Celtic sign goalkeeper Ross Doohan on three-year deal

Celtic have signed goalkeeper Ross Doohan on a three-year deal, the club have announced. The 27-year-old, who came through the ranks of Celtic's academy, returns to the club after a two-year spell at Aberdeen. Doohan has also played for Ayr United, Ross County, Dundee United, Tranmere Rovers and Forest Green Rovers. The keeper also made his Scotland debut in a 4-0 away win over Liechtenstein earlier this month. Speaking to the club's website, Doohan said: 'I'm over the moon. Coming through the Academy, spending eleven years there and now to be coming back, it's an amazing feeling. ✍️ #CelticFC is delighted to announce that goalkeeper, Ross Doohan, has signed for the club on a three-year deal🍀 Welcome back, Ross!#RossReturns🧤 — Celtic Football Club (@CelticFC) June 20, 2025 'It was always the dream to come back. I knew at the starting point of my career that I needed to go away and play games and hopefully the opportunity would come up to come back to the club, which I always wanted to do and thankfully that's happened now. 'I'm buzzing to get going and to meet all the boys and hopefully it'll be another successful season for the club.' The Scottish Premiership champions have already secured the return of Kieran Tierney to the squad, while long-serving goalkeeper Scott Bain left the club to join Falkirk. Brendan Rodgers added: 'I am really pleased that we are bringing Ross back to Celtic. He knows the club so well and has grown up understanding the demands of the club. 'He has gone away, got some great experience, really focused on developing himself at some good clubs, so much so that he has now achieved his first Scotland cap, a great moment for him and his family. 'Ross is a really talented goalkeeper, hungry to achieve more, but he is a humble guy with a tremendous attitude to the game. I am sure he can be a real asset to our squad'. Celtic reveal major change to iconic club crest as badge used for last 30 years is DITCHED

CELTIC have revealed a major transformation to their iconic club crest. The Hoops unveiled new brand guidelines this morning, including an update to the badge for the first time in 30 years. 2 2 The change was trailed last week when the club switched up the logo used on their official social media accounts from the old badge to the new one. Since 1995, Celtic have used a different crest on club kits to what they have used on official merchandise and documentation. That latter crest will now be replaced by a new kit crest which will feature across of the club's branding. A statement from Celtic Park read: "For a number of years, there have been two versions of the Club Crest in use. This had been a legacy of our 'Primary Crest' being adapted to a simplified 'Kit Crest' which features on Club apparel, including our world famous green and white hoops. "The simplified 'Kit Crest' will now move to the position of 'Primary Crest' across all applications. This is a strategic move to create a stronger identity both on and off the field. "The consistent use of the simplified crest across all Club platforms and communications will ensure greater consistency of application across all digital formats, merchandise, media and broadcast platforms — ensuring our iconic brand identity is more widely recognisable worldwide. "This is not a new identity, simply a consolidation of the use of the crest that balances respect for tradition with a fresh, contemporary feel." One noteworthy inclusion to the updated brand guidelines includes when the badge is used in mono transparent form (used when the main crest isn't usable because of the particular background colour) - stating that it should NEVER be on a blue background, the colour used by rivals Rangers. It reads: "This crest should only be applied to colours that fit well within the brand colour palette and consideration should be given to background colours, textures or patterns, given that these will all remain visible upon application of a transparent crest. The Mono Transparent Crest should never appear on a blue background." Celtic have used a number of different crests over the course of the club's history. Celtic transfer special - Nygren in and Kyogo to return The version adopted in 1995 was an adaptation of a similar design that had been in use for the majority of the club's modern era. A gold version of that crest was used in season 2017–18 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club's European Cup win in 1967. Prior to that, there was a change in the club's centenary year that harked back to earlier badges that incorporated a Celtic cross, with similar work done for the 125th anniversary. Indeed, the first ever instance of a Celtic badge was simply of a Celtic cross, on a red background. That was first used in 1888 on kits, with a different version on season tickets. But by 1925 the club changed tact and began using a clover leaf on some away kits. Albeit back then it was a three-leaf clover, with the four-lead clover first implemented on kits in 1977.

Rod Stewart calls on Celtic FC fans to turn Glastonbury green and white

Sir Rod Stewart is hoping to see a sea of green and white when he takes to the stage at Glastonbury. Sir Rod Stewart has one request for the crowd coming to see him at Glastonbury. The Maggie May icon takes the stage for the legend slot at the festival later this month. Hoops superfan Rod wants to see a wave of green and white when he belts out his biggest hits from the iconic Pyramid Stage and is asking his fans to wear Celtic FC shirts to help him achieve the dream. ‌ The singer, 80, appeared on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this week and revealed his hope for the much anticipated performance on Sunday, June 29. ‌ Throughout the years, various different artists have performed during the legend slot, such as Shania Twain, Diana Ross, Tom Jones and Lionel Richie. And Glastonbury fans have a history of showing up dressed as the artist they are there to see. Zoe asked Sir Rod if he was expecting to see members of the crowd show up wearing his signature leopard print style, or even donning wigs in tribute to his much loved spiky, tousled look barnet. Rod joked with Zoe as he said: "My fans usually wear Celtic shirts now. "They're all in Las Vegas in the front row with their Celtic shirts - most of them don't know what the goalkeeper's name is, but their intention is good." "I do hope there are a few Celtic flags up at Glastonbury," he continued. ‌ The You're in My Heart singer has recently been forced to cancel several of his tour dates - four in Vegas and two in California - due to health issues. Rod recently took to social media, sharing the news with his fans that he was under strict orders to rest. He posted on Instagram: "I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu. So sorry, my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon." ‌ Despite the recent health scare, the father of eight assured Zoe he has no plans to give up performing anytime soon. Zoe joked with the rocker saying she couldn't imagine his retiring to play golf, to which he replied: "No, no, I think I'll keep singing until I fall flat dead on the stage like Tommy Cooper." ‌ With a laugh, he added that there's only one other way he'd want to go: "Or watching Celtic win another trophy in the stands." Unlike other legendary slots at Glastonbury, Sir Rod's set will run for 90 minutes. He revealed he told festival bosses that "it wouldn't be fair to his mates in the crowd" to perform for the original hour and 15-minute slot. He also revealed to Zoe that during his set, there will be three surprise guests. But Rod is remaining tight-lipped on who they might be. He wants fans to have that element of surprise, and wants them to speculate who it is right up until he takes to the stage, he told Zoe.
