Why Barcelona are ‘losing patience' with attacking transfer target
The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are growing impatient with the situation of a headline member of the club's summer transfer shortlist. That's according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Luis Díaz as the player in question. Advertisement Wide-man Díaz has of course seen his name pushed somewhat into the background in Catalunya's capital over recent days. This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Colombian has been overtaken in the race to be a new Barcelona player by Athletic Club standout Nico Williams. This shift came for a number of reasons, not least of them the fact that Nico himself is actively pushing for a Camp Nou switch. A similar approach had been expected on Díaz's part for some time now, but is yet to come to fruition. And as per the aforementioned MD, as much has not gone down well with the likes of Deco and Joan Laporta: Advertisement 'In the case of Luis Díaz, Barcelona have begun to lose patience. Joan Laporta and Deco's plan was for the Colombian to put strong pressure on Liverpool. However, aside from Díaz's statements in a recent press conference, the reality is that there has not been any significant pressure on the Anfield leadership.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Barca reject chance to swap Fermin for Nkunku
Barcelona have reportedly turned down an offer from Chelsea to swap Fermin Lopez for striker Christopher Nkunku. There have been a few whispers of Chelsea interest in Lopez over the last few days, but the latest report claims the Blues were thinking about a swap deal. Advertisement According to Mundo Deportivo, the idea didn't go down too well in Catalunya. Barca 'flatly rejected' the proposal with Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick both uninterested. Lopez became a really useful player for Barcelona last season. He was not a regular starter but still ended up with eight goals and eight assists for Flick's side. The youngster has already made it clear he's not interested in leaving Barcelona, and it seems the feeling is completely mutual. MD say that Barcelona will only consider letting Fermin leave if he wants to move on in search of more regular playing time. Lopez seems happy at the club for now though and did sign a new long-term contract until 2029 at the end of last year. Advertisement More from

Piastri on pole as McLaren sweep front row in Spain
The pole was the Australian's (centre) fourth in nine races so far this season. (AP pic) BARCELONA : Formula One championship leader Oscar Piastri seized pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday with teammate and title rival Lando Norris completing a McLaren front row sweep. Red Bull's Max Verstappen, last year's winner, qualified third fastest in the same time as Mercedes' George Russell, who will start fourth because the reigning champion finished his lap first. Piastri had led the final shootout with a lap of one minute and 11.836 seconds but Norris then made the most of an aerodynamic tow to go quicker by 0.017 as stricter front wing flex tests made no difference to McLaren's speed. Norris, winner in Monaco last Sunday to close the gap at the top to three points, managed to improve his time only to 1:11.755 before Piastri clinched pole with a final effort of 1:11.546 around the Circuit de Catalunya. The pole was the Australian's fourth in nine races so far this season. 'It wasn't the perfect lap but I think around here with the tyres going off so much through the lap it's very tough to do that,' said Piastri. 'I'm very happy with all the work we've put in.' Norris said he had the pace but made a couple of small mistakes. 'A good result for the team, a nice one-two and an interesting start for tomorrow,' said the Briton. Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth for Ferrari with Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli sixth. Charles Leclerc was seventh for Ferrari, doing only one flying lap, with Alpine's Pierre Gasly eighth and Isack Hadjar ninth for Racing Bulls. Spain's double world champion Fernando Alonso completed the top 10 for Aston Martin in front of his home crowd.
