Hunger Games fans are all saying the same thing after movie franchise cast Glenn Close

Hunger Games fans have all drawn the same conclusion after learning about the casting for the upcoming installment. On Monday, the franchise announced that actress Glenn Close, 78, would be playing Drusilla Sickle - District 12's escort - in the prequel titled Sunrise on the Reaping. The fifth novel in Suzanne Collins' series, of the same name, was released to eager fans on March 18, 2025. Sunrise on the Reaping will be a prequel to the original trilogy, taking place 40 years after the events of the most recent tale, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. But in light of the new addition to the cast, many fans have been left wondering the same thing... with such a huge casting budget, what will the rest of the film look like? People took to X (formerly Twitter) in their droves to express their concerns and marvel at the seemingly massive budget. 'Half of the budget is for the cast lmao,' someone wrote. 'The budget is unlimited,' another fan joked. Sunrise on the Reaping will be a prequel to the original trilogy, taking place 40 years after the events of the most recent tale, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes 'Ninety-nine percent of the Sunrise on the Reaping budget going towards the cast,' someone else shared. 'This move about to be expensive as hell because how the F**K you get GLENN CLOSE,' another user said. 'Leave some budget for the special effects damn,' a fan begged. 'The tributes are gonna be dying from natural causes at this point because there's no way they are affording all this LMFAOOOOO,' a person observed. 'The budget for the casting of this movie alone is $1B,' a user penned. 'GURL, HOW BIG IS YOUR BUDGET?' someone asked. 'Lionsgate, never close your purse again please!' a person pleaded. Another wrote: 'OHHHHHH THE BUDGET...' Collins said in a statement: 'With Sunrise on the Reaping, I was inspired by David Hume's idea of implicit submission and, in his words, "the easiness with which the many are governed by the few." People took to X (formerly Twitter) in their droves to express their concerns and marvel at the seemingly massive budget 'The story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. The question "Real or not real?" seems more pressing to me every day.' Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sunrise on the Reaping returns to the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, and is timed for the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The story tells the tale of how Katniss Everdeen's beloved mentor Haymitch Abernathy survived the Hunger Games. 'Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances,' the official synopsis reads. 'All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch's name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. 'He's torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who's nearly a sister to him, a compulsive odds-maker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. 'As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he's been set up to fail. But there's something in him that wants to fight... and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena.' Close isn't the only A-list name in the cast, others include: Billy Porter as Magno Stift, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Ralph Fiennes as Coriolanus Snow, per USA Today.

HBO's HARRY POTTER Series Casts Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as the Dreaded Dursleys — GeekTyrant

The Dursleys have been cast in the new live-aciton Harry Potter series and they're bringing their signature brand of magical denial and emotional repression. Variety reports that Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby have been cast as Petunia and Vernon Dursley in HBO's Harry Potter series, offering a fresh take on one of the wizarding world's most dysfunctional Muggle households. Fans of the franchise know the Dursleys all too well: Petunia is Harry's bitter aunt and the estranged sister of his late mother, Lily. Vernon, her equally unpleasant husband, is the kind of man who prides himself on his normality and has an allergic reaction to anything that might seem remotely unusual, including magic. Together, they raise Harry in a cupboard and treat him more like a stray dog than a child. In the original film adaptations, Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths played the roles with a delicious mix of comedy and cruelty. Bel Powley is best known for roles in The Diary of a Teenage Girl , White Boy Rick , and Apple TV+'s The Morning Show . Her TV work has recently included Masters of the Air and A Small Light . Daniel Rigby, who nabbed a BAFTA TV Award for Eric and Ernie , will tackle the gruff and huffy Vernon. His recent work includes Renegade Nell , and Tom Jones , and he's also set to appear in Amazon's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 . Still to be cast is Dudley, their overindulged son and professional pudding-eater. This news follows previous casting reveals, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. The ever-growing ensemble also features John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Filch. HBO promises a 'faithful adaptation' of J.K. Rowling's beloved novels. According to the official logline, the series will be 'exploring every corner of the wizarding world,' with each season delivering the full Harry Potter story to 'new and existing audiences.' Francesca Gardiner ( Succession, His Dark Materials ) is writing and executive producing the series, and will also serve as showrunner. Director Mark Mylod ( Game of Thrones, The Menu ) will helm several episodes and executive produce.

Saatoh W Tarikhuh: Egyptian TV series unveiling real crime cases - Screens - Arts & Culture

Saatoh W Tarikhuh, an Egyptian TV series, is the first of its kind to reveal real crime cases that occurred within the 21st century. The crime series' first season debuted in December 2024, and its second season began this February. The events of each episode are real cases with different names and some changes in events, some of which may be familiar to the audience because they are cause célèbre. Every episode features a new crime, showcasing the motive and background of the incident in which the crime took place. The episode concludes with the ruling issued by the Egyptian court against the perpetrator in each case. Several crimes revealed include contemporary ones that some Egyptians have witnessed, such as sexual harassment, blackmailing, and the dangers of the dark web. Other crimes featured are domestic abuse, illegal archaeological excavation, murder, robbery, and quackery. Each 30- to 40-minute episode is filmed in almost one setting, focusing on dull lighting. This invites the audience to connect with the characters and understand the narrative through direct dialogue and intense emotions. Saatoh W Tarikhuh is the brainchild of director Amr Salama and is generally directed by him and written by Mahmoud Ezzat. The series' team of directors rotates between episodes and consists of Ahmed Adel, Amr Mousa, Ahmed Sobhy, Adel Yehia, Amira Diab, and others. The scriptwriters include Dina Maher, Seif Konsowa, Reem Nehad, Engy Shoukry, Asser Ahmed, Ahmed Samir, and Hoda El-Ghorab. The TV series stars several actors from the reality show Casting (2024), showcasing emerging talents and preparing them for their acting careers. Casting was under Salama's supervision, and the chosen talents were granted roles in one of his future works. The featured talents are Eslam Khaled, Salma Abdelkareem, Omneya Bahy, and Mariam Karam. Other actors include Mayan El-Sayed, Ahmed Amin, Heba Magdy, Yasmine El-Abd, Soliman Eid, Diab, Arwa Gouda, Esaad Younis, and Ahmed Dash.
