Central Zonal Council meet: Shah to arrive in Kashi today

1 2 Varanasi: Union home minister Amit Shah will arrive here on Monday evening to chair the 25th Central Zonal Council, which will be attended by chief ministers of four BJP-ruled states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. All four chief ministers – Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), Mohan Yadav (Madhya Pradesh), and Vishnudev Sai (Chhattisgarh) – will welcome the home minister at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport on Monday evening. Before the formal meeting, the dignitaries will pay their respects at Kashi Kotwal Kaal Bhairav and the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Following the visit, they will attend a dinner hosted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Over 100 officials from different ministries and departments will also take part in the meeting scheduled on Tuesday. This is the first time a non-state capital city has been given the opportunity to host the zonal council meeting. Uttar Pradesh hosted the last CZC meet in Lucknow in 2018. On reaching the city, Shah will receive a rousing welcome amidst showering of flower petals, beats of damru and blowing of conch shells. BJP workers will express gratitude to Shah for giving Kashi the opportunity to hold the CZC meet, highlighting his achievements on the fronts of internal security and the Naxalite menace. Overseeing preparations for the CZC meet, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Sunday said that the series of arrivals of VIPs, including UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and his counterparts Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai will start after 3 pm on Monday, while Shah is expected to arrive in the evening. He said over 100 senior officers from different ministries and departments will also arrive on Monday. All the arrangements for VIPs, including their movement in the city and night stay have been finalised. The BJP is busy finalising arrangements for a grand welcome of Shah and the chief ministers. According to BJP Kashi regional unit president Dilip Singh Patel, party leaders, workers and supporters will take positions to welcome Shah upon his arrival around 5:30 pm, showering him with flower petals On coming out of the LBSI Airport, Shah will be welcomed by the leaders and workers from Pindra, Sevapuri, and Rohaniya assembly areas, who represent five rural assembly constituencies. As he moves towards the Varanasi highway, he will be greeted by workers of the Varanasi North assembly area at Bhojubir and the Cantt area near Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. A grand welcome by the workers of the Varanasi City South assembly areas will start from Lahurabir to Kaal Bhairav temple via Maidagin amidst beats of damrus and blowing of conch shells. Patel stated that the grand welcome is to express gratitude to Shah for entrusting Kashi with the honour of hosting the CZC meet. Patel said, "It's a matter of pride for Kashi, following the G20 meeting, this opportunity is another proud moment for the city." "The heroic welcome to Shah will also be given for his achievements as the home minister, including strengthening internal security and on the fronts of Kashmir and Naxalism," he added.

Varanasi: As part of the Central Zonal Council (CZC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, a special exhibition featuring 10 GI-tagged handicraft products from Varanasi will be organised at the venue. This exhibition will highlight the region's rich heritage under the initiative of the Yogi Adityanath-led govt. The exhibition will be attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , and the CMs of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh — Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mohan Yadav, and Vishnudev Sai respectively — along with senior officials from various ministries and state departments. The featured products, known for their intricate craftsmanship and cultural value, include Banaras Brocade and Saree, Banaras Zardozi, Banaras Gulabi Meenakari Craft, Banaras Glass Beads, Banaras Metal Repoussé Craft, Banaras Metal Casting Craft, Varanasi Wooden Lacquerware and Toys, Banaras Wood Carving, Varanasi Soft Stone Jali Work, and Banaras Hand Block Print. Padma Shri awardee Rajni Kant, popularly known as the 'GI Man of India', hailed the event as a proud moment for Kashi. "This exhibition offers an opportunity to present the unparalleled skill of local artisans on a national platform. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is home to 32 GI-tagged products, which support nearly 20 lakh artisans and generate an annual business of over Rs 25,500 crore," he said. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday inspected the venue of the 25th Central Zonal Council meeting, scheduled for June 24 at a city hotel in Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh is the host of 25th CZC meeting. Union home minister Amit Shah will chair the meeting whereas the chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand and UP will be in attendance at the high-level council session. CM Yogi reviewed arrangements at the site, received information in detail about the arrangements from divisional commissioner S Rajalingam, and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements for the meetings remain in place. Progress in the government's aim to ensure availability of banks or postal banking facilities within a three-kilometer radius of villages across the country will be reviewed during the meeting, sources said. Digital infrastructure and cyber crime are most likely among the topics to be discussed during the CZC. The issues of digital awareness among farmers is also likely to be discussed in the meeting. During the inspection, the CM was accompanied by Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh, labour and employment minister Anil Rajbhar, ministers of state (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal and Dayashankar Mishra 'Dayalu', district panchayat president Poonam Maurya, MLAs Saurabh Srivastava, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, police commissioner Mohit Agarwal, and district magistrate Satyendra Kumar. The 24th CZC meeting was held in Narendra Nagar in Uttarakhand.
