IIT-Kgp, JU better global ranks, CU sees slight dip
Kolkata: IIT-Kharagpur, Jadavpur University and Calcutta University are the only three institutes from Bengal that have made it to QS World Ranking 2026. While IIT-Kharagpur and JU improved their rank, CU's position saw a dip. The list this year features 54 institutes from the country. The QS World University Rankings, published annually by the London-based global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, assess universities based on performance indicators, like academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, research impact, international student diversity, graduate employability. IIT-Kharagpur has climbed seven spots from 222nd rank last year to 215th. It also ranked 4th among the IITs. The new IIT Kharagpur director, Suman Chakraborty, said, "We have performed better than last year but our rank can improve if we can create a positive impression on the outer world as perception plays an important role." The outgoing acting director, Amit Patra, said, "Our performance in citations per faculty, international research network and sustainability, helped us better our position. " At 676, JU's rank improved significantly from last year's position between 721 and 730. "As a state-run institute, we have constraints, including funds crunch. Still, JU has been performing well. The credit goes to our teachers', researchers' and students' dedication. Improvement in areas, like faculty-student ratio, international student diversity and international student ratio, could have advanced our rank, but they do not depend entirely on the university," said an official. CU's rank dropped to a place between 771 and 780 from last year's 751 to 760. CU acting VC Santa Datta said, "The rank has slightly dipped but it's a proud moment that we are still among institutes on the world ranking list. With limited resources, my aim is to develop the university holistically, focusing on research and international network."

Deion Sanders' Son Makes Major Nike Announcement
Deion Sanders' Son Makes Major Nike Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Sanders family is likely the most popular sports family in the current landscape. On Instagram alone, the Sanders family boasts over 10 million followers. While social media is not the lone metric, that is a number that cannot be ignored. Advertisement Deion Sanders Jr deserves his flowers and Nike stepped up. Like every other Sanders, Bucky was an athlete. In three seasons with SMU, Bucky amassed over 1500 return yards with a 21-yard average, 233 yards on offense, as well as being a contributor on defense. The NFL was a long shot. However, once Deion Sanders became a Power Four college football coach, Bucky seized an opportunity. Shortly thereafter, Well Off Media would become the most popular inside access sports channel on the internet covering any one team. With almost 600k subscribers and almost 2,000 videos posted, Well Off Media has become daily viewing for fans. On Monday, Sanders Jr's official twitter account posted four images, and the caption read, 'Ossacin done got his own DT 93s'. Yes, he is a Sanders. Yes, he has access to the CU facility that has access to Nike's entire catalogue. Yes, his father is a Nike signature athlete. However, those factors do not equal getting his own shoe. Advertisement This would be a significant get for any non-player, but in the case of Bucky, it almost feels like the credit for what he's created. For a media model that should be emulated by every Power Four program in the country. Bucky saw an opportunity and turned into a social media empire. Bucky's Proto '92 would move numbers. First and foremost, the Bucky PE might be the best colorway of the Diamond Turf Proto '92 that we've seen to date. Mostly red, Bucky's admitted favorite color, in a delicate suede. Black forefoot strap that moves up from the black mid and outsole. With significant amounts of white throughout. Everything fits within something the sneaker community would expect to see produced. The heel counter includes a large white anchor panel with the 'Well Off Media' W-O crown logo in full view, at 3x the real estate given to the swoosh below it. While it could be easy to assume that Bucky's proximity to Coach Prime all but guaranteed this might eventually happen, the shoe makes a very different statement. Hopefully, Deion Sanders Jr will influence future colorways and styles moving forward. The Ossacin DT 93s is strong evidence that Bucky is already a better celebrity collab designer than Travis Scott, Ma Maniere, and Off White. 5 Canadian Dividend Stocks to Buy Now and Hold for 20 More Years
Written by Amy Legate-Wolfe at The Motley Fool Canada There's something comforting about dividend stocks. When the market zigs and zags and investors scramble to guess what's next, dividends just keep rolling in. That's why long-term investors often love dividend-paying companies, especially those with a track record of consistency. If you're thinking about building a portfolio for the next 20 years, these five Canadian dividend stocks deserve a spot on your radar. Let's start with some real estate investment trusts (REIT) like H&R REIT (TSX: This REIT focuses on a mix of office, residential, industrial, and retail properties. Over the years, it has transformed itself to adapt to changing trends, including a recent pivot toward residential and industrial assets. As of early June 2025, shares trade around $8.27 with a dividend yield near 7.3%. pays $0.05 monthly per unit. In its most recent quarterly earnings, H&R posted property operating income of $121.2 million, up slightly year over year. It's a steadily performing REIT, and with rising demand for well-located residential housing and industrial properties, it's positioned to keep rewarding patient investors. Primaris REIT (TSX: might fly under the radar, but it offers something special: exposure to Canadian enclosed shopping centres. While the retail world has changed a lot in recent years, Primaris owns properties in strong locations with steady foot traffic. In 2024, revenue rose 22% to $501.9 million. Despite higher operating expenses, it still posted net income of $79.5 million. pays a monthly distribution of $0.07, or $0.84 annually, yielding over 6% at today's price of around $13.50. Then there's Granite REIT (TSX: This REIT is all about industrial properties – think warehouses, logistics centres, and distribution hubs. With long-term tenants, it offers stability you can count on. In Q1 2025, Granite posted rental revenue of $146 million and funds from operations per unit of $1.46. It currently pays $0.267 monthly, or $3.20 annually, yielding just under 4.5%. With e-commerce and logistics not going away anytime soon, Granite looks like a rock-solid bet for the long term. Now let's look at stocks that aren't going anywhere. Canadian Utilities (TSX:CU) is one of the most reliable dividend payers in the country. It has increased its dividend every year for more than 50 years, with the longest streak of any publicly traded Canadian company. The dividend stock provides electricity, natural gas, and related infrastructure services across Alberta and globally. In its Q1 2025 earnings, it posted adjusted earnings of $232 million, compared to $203 million in the previous quarter. CU stock's dividend yield is around 5.3%, and it pays out $0.4533 per quarter. For conservative investors who want reliability and compounding power, CU is tough to beat. Finally, there's Rogers Communications (TSX:RCI.B). Everyone knows Rogers. Whether it's your phone bill or your internet connection, Rogers has a role in many households. It also owns a chunk of Canadian media through Sportsnet and its interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. After a major merger with Shaw Communications, Rogers is now the biggest wireless provider in the country. In Q1 2025, it reported revenue of $3.5 billion and net income of $366 million. It pays a dividend of $2 annually, yielding about 5.5%. With wireless services essentially a utility now, Rogers offers both growth and income potential. Each of these dividend stocks operates in a different sector, giving you natural diversification. Real estate, utilities, telecom – they all move differently, and that's what makes them so appealing for a long-term investor. When one dips, another might hold steady, and over time, you can build wealth slowly and steadily. So how much could you make from investing around $5,000 in each stock? That would shake out to about $1,248 annually, or about $104 on average per month with a mix of quarterly and monthly payouts. COMPANY RECENT PRICE NUMBER OF SHARES DIVIDEND TOTAL PAYOUT FREQUENCY INVESTMENT TOTAL $10.58 472 $0.60 $283.20 Monthly $4,993.76 $69.20 72 $3.20 $230.40 Monthly $4,982.40 CU $38.36 130 $1.78 $231.40 Quarterly $4,986.80 $15.11 330 $0.70 $231.00 Monthly $4,986.30 RCI.B $36.50 136 $2.00 $272.00 Quarterly $4,964.00 The best part? You don't need to time the market perfectly. If you reinvest the dividends, keep holding, and let time do the work, these stocks could pay off for decades. Colorado coach Deion Sanders gives update on his health
USA TODAY Sports reported Monday that the timing of his return to campus was unclear, based on what his son Deion Jr. said on a YouTube livestream on Sunday. Deion Sr. thanked his supporters Wednesday on social media site X. "Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers," Sanders Sr. wrote. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!" He didn't give a date for his return. "I'm excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program," Sanders wrote. "When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. . Until then, I'M COMING BABY, #CoachPrime." Sanders Sr. mentioned the issue on a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel in late May. "I hope you're feeling better," Samuel said to Sanders. Samuel then asked him if he ever tried fasting. Sanders responded by saying "what I'm dealing with right now is at whole nother level" but said he's coming back after losing about 14 pounds. Last week, CU hosted separate camps for high school football players and eligible high school graduates. CU also started a youth football camp this week, which Sanders has attended in previous years at CU. This year the camps have gone on without him and have been run by staff. Though he hasn't said what the issue is exactly, he has battled issues with blood clots in his legs for years and had to miss a Pac-12 Conference media event in Las Vegas because of it two years ago. Deion Jr.'s YouTube channel has showed that CU athletic trainer Lauren Askevold has been at his estate in Texas in recent weeks. She has helped him with his legs since the issue got serious in 2021, including the amputation of two of his toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf. Sanders also canceled a scheduled speaking engagement scheduled for June 8 in Florida. He canceled because of an "unavoidable last-minute scheduling change," according to The Foundation for Sickle Cell Research. The foundation replaced him with basketball legend Magic Johnson.
