Truck crashes into overpass near Winnipeg's Polo Park mall

(Murray Captain) A truck crashed into the overpass near Winnipeg's CF Polo Park, temporarily causing traffic closures on Thursday. According to the City of Winnipeg, the collision took place around 3:50 p.m. on Thursday in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue. Images from the crash show emergency personnel at the scene after the truck got stuck in the overpass. Westbound lanes in the area were temporarily closed but reopened hours later. In a statement, the city said the overpass belongs to CP Rail, but that it's the city's responsibility to place and maintain the signs that warn drivers of the maximum height. 'It is the responsibility of drivers to know their vehicle height and heed the many height-limit warnings on overhead structures,' the statement said. 'They are posted to prevent such incidents.'
