Man sought after sexually abusing children at Chicago playground
The Brief A man is accused of making inappropriate contact with two young girls at a Dearborn Park playground in Chicago's South Loop. Police said he grabbed one girl and briefly touched another before following the group and fleeing through a nearby tunnel. Authorities are searching for the suspect, described as a man in his 60s or 70s with a bald head, facial hair, and a gold tooth. CHICAGO - Police are searching for a man who inappropriately touched two young girls at a playground Tuesday evening in the South Loop. What we know The incident happened around 7:37 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Plymouth Court, where three girls were playing at Jones Park, according to a community alert from Chicago police. Authorities said the man approached one of the girls as she crawled on playground equipment and grabbed her. He then sat next to another girl, briefly spoke with her and touched her inappropriately before all three children left the area. The man reportedly followed them for a short time before fleeing north through the Plymouth Court tunnel, police said. The suspect is described as a Black man between 60 and 70 years old with a bald head and gray or white facial hair. He was missing several teeth but had at least one gold tooth. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with a white skeleton decal and blue jeans. Chicago police issue alert after 2 victims beaten, robbed overnight in River North
Chicago police are warning the public to be aware of their surroundings after two people were beaten and robbed early Thursday morning in the River North neighborhood. The attacks happened within five minutes of each other on the 0-100 block of West Kinzie Street. In each incident, the suspects targeted the victims while they were alone, around 1:55 and 2 a.m., on the sidewalk. While using physical force, they took belongings from the victims, police said. The suspects were described as three African American men, between 20-30 years of age, between 5-feet-10 and 6 feet tall, weighing between175-185 pounds, with dreadlocks hairstyle. The Brief A pedestrian was hit by a car in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Police said the driver of a silver 2019 Chevrolet Malibu fled west on 79th Street after the crash. Investigators are asking the public for tips as they search for the driver. A pedestrian was on the crosswalk of 79th Street when they were struck by a 2019 silver Chevrolet Malibu with Illinois license plate DH27880. After hitting the pedestrian, the car fled westbound on 79th Street toward Martin Luther King Drive. Police said the vehicle had several tinted windows and possible damage to the front left side of the vehicle/windshield. It happened just before 10 p.m. in the 700 block of East 79th Street. Chicago police issue alert about string of business burglaries on North Side
Chicago police are warning businesses about four burglaries on the city's North Side this week The burglaries happened in the morning and evening hours on Monday and Tuesday in the Norwood Park, Jefferson Park, Wildwood, and Irving Park neighborhoods. Police said a group of men, driving a silver Hyundai four-door sedan, forced their way into the businesses by smashing either a window or the front glass door. Once inside, they stole cash from the registers. Incident dates and locations: 6100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue from June 2 at 8:30 p.m. through June 3 at 06:30 a.m. 5200 block of North Elston Avenue on June 3 at 2:40 a.m. 6200 block of West Touhy Avenue on June 3 at 4 a.m. 3700 block of West Irving Park Road on June 3 at 04:15 a.m. Police said the men wore black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, and gloves. Two of them wore black balaclava-style masks. One also wore a red, white, and blue "Scream" style mask.
