CBI Registers FIR On Lokpal's Orders Over Rs1.62 cr Illegal Excavation On CONCOR Land
Nagpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a former deputy general manager (civil) of Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), and M/s Aditya Enterprises, along with other unidentified persons, including public servants and private individuals, in connection with unauthorised excavation and alleged criminal misconduct at the Container Corporation of India's premises at Mihan, Nagpur, leading to a loss of Rs1.62 crore. CONCOR is a public sector undertaking tasked with transportation and handling of containers. The case stems from a complaint forwarded by the Lokpal of India, who, through an order dated May 22, 2025, directed the CBI to initiate an investigation into the matter. The Lokpal also ordered that the identities of the complainant and the respondent public servant be kept confidential under Rule 4 and other applicable provisions of the Lokpal Complaint Rules, 2020. According to the FIR dated June 12, M/s Aditya Enterprises illegally carried out excavation work on CONCOR land with alleged support from the then DGM, causing a financial loss of Rs1.62 crore to the public sector enterprise. The act was categorised under criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct by a public servant, punishable under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 7, 13(1)(a), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The FIR states that the DGM, being in charge of the site, facilitated the excavation and misappropriation by M/s Aditya Enterprises. This unauthorised activity allegedly bypassed standard procedures and regulatory permissions, resulting in significant financial damage to CONCOR Ltd. Confirming the development, Bhartendar Sharma, superintendent of police, CBI, AC-III, New Delhi, told TOI, "The investigation regarding the case is in primary stages, so nothing can be confirmed for now; however, we will investigate every lead and link with this." The investigation is being led by inspector Parvender Kumar of CBI AC-III, New Delhi. As the probe moves forward, it is possible that it might uncover deeper insights into possible collusion and broader involvement, if any, in this suspected act of corruption rooted in the heart of Nagpur's logistics sector.

Illegal excavation: CBI files FIR against ex-CONCOR official, firm over Rs 1.62 crore scam in Nagpur
New Delhi: The CBI has registered an FIR to investigate a Rs 1.62 crore scam involving illegal excavation at a Nagpur-based premises of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), allegedly involving the PSU's former senior official and a private firm. The FIR, registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and penal provisions related to criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct by a public servant, was filed on the direction of the Lokpal of India. The federal agency booked CONCOR's then Deputy General Manager (Civil) -- while keeping his identity confidential -- and Nagpur-based company Aditya Enterprises, along with unknown public servants and private persons. The CBI said in its FIR, 'Being in-charge of the site, the DGM (Civil) allowed Aditya Enterprises to do misappropriation by unauthorised/illegal excavation to the tune of Rs 1,62,76,123.50, thereby causing wrongful loss to CONCOR Ltd.' The illegal excavation came to light after a complaint was formally lodged with the Lokpal. After receiving the complaint, the anti-corruption watchdog directed the CBI to keep the identity of the complainant confidential. The CONCOR premises episode had also turned focus on the rampant illegal murrum–reddish soil excavation on government lands in Nagpur. Murrum is commonly used in construction, particularly for plinth filling, footing pit backfill. Such soil is found in humid tropical or equatorial regions. The CBI said in its FIR that Aditya Enterprises has its office in Sanmarg Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur. Sources said officials of the firm are to be questioned over the illegal excavation scam. While approving the registration of an FIR, a senior CBI official directed his team to take up the investigation into the allegedly illegal excavation while keeping in mind the Lokpal's directions to keep the identity of both the complainant and the CONCOR DGM confidential. Referring to the May 22 order of the Lokpal, the CBI officer said, 'In the said order. Lokpal of India has also directed to keep the identity of the complainant and RPS provisions (respondent public servant) confidential as per provisions of Rule 4 and other enabling provisions of the Lokpal Complaint Rules, 2020.'

Mysore MP promises swift resolution of logistics park issues
Mysuru: Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Tuesday said he will take swift action to address the operational challenges faced by the Multi Modal Logistics Park, an inland container depot in Kadakola, which was developed by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR). The depot, inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024, was built at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore but remained underutilised due to the absence of a customs clearance facility. Suresh Jain, general secretary of the micro, small and medium enterprises council, Mysuru, highlighted the issue, stating, "Without a customs clearance facility, industries are forced to rely on ports in Chennai, Mangaluru, or Kochi, rendering the depot idle." Responding to the concerns, Yaduveer told reporters that he was unaware of this issue. "I will work to resolve it at the earliest," he said. Meanwhile, Yaduveer announced plans to commemorate Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar's birth anniversary on Wednesday, uniquely by making the Mysuru Palace plastic-free. "We will install a water vending machine on the palace premises. This will end the problem of water bottle menace," he said. "It is our duty to support the civic workers who serve the society. Our aim is to provide ration for a month," he said. Addressing the issue of Kamal Haasan's controversial statement, which was perceived as anti-Kannada, Yaduveer stated that only the public can teach a lesson by boycotting the actor's films until he apologises. "Languages naturally influence one another, but claiming one language gave birth to another is unacceptable," he remarked. The MP also called on the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and police to devise a strategy to prevent miscreants from defacing statues in the city, emphasising the need to protect public monuments.
