Govt revives JET City project, clears way for MSME hub
Vijayawada: The construction of the flatted factory complexes (FFCs) at the Vemavaram Jakkampudi economic township (JET City), intended to house micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), is finally set to see the light of the day. The state govt has permitted the Andhra Pradesh economic development board corporation limited (APEDCO), the original nodal agency appointed for the construction of the FFCs, to proceed with the pending land alienation and hand it over to the Andhra Pradesh industrial infrastructure corporation (APIIC). APIIC is the nodal agency for the micro and small enterprises cluster development programme (MSECDP) scheme, which includes two components: infrastructure development (ID) and common facilities cluster (CFC). APIIC will complete the pending tower works intended for MSMEs. In this regard, the government has allowed APEDCO and APIIC to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU), under which APIIC will be responsible for completing the pending parts of the first tower and the remaining towers of the FFCs. Land was allotted to the extent of 60.01 acres in Vemavaram and 93.02 acres in Jakkampudi, totaling 153.03 acres. The govt sanctioned and took up phase-1 works of the JET CITY project at an estimated outlay of ₹143 crore under the EPC model for the development of three towers and trunk infrastructure for the flatted factories over 6.45 lakh sqft. However, the contracting agency achieved only 20% progress due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and further progress was halted due to non-alienation of land parcels to APEDCO, which stalled the project due to non-release of funds.

Rewards in Obyte City Purchasing a plot assigns it random coordinates in the City (horizontal and vertical coordinates range from 0 to 1,000,000), and if it lands close enough to another unbuilt plot, both owners become eligible to receive houses and two new plots each as rewards. They must work together to claim this initial reward by connecting via Discord or Telegram. Then, those new plots can become neighbors with other existing ones as well, triggering further cycles of collaboration and gain. Plots that remain unbuilt can still attract future neighbors or be relinquished at any time for a refund of the original price in CITY tokens, minus the burned fee. Building a house not only grants a permanent presence in the City but also enables owners to register unique shortcodes, which may later serve as human-readable wallet addresses. These shortcodes can be traded with other house owners, adding a layer of value exchange. Users can also earn rewards through referrals — when a new participant buys a plot via their link, the referrer benefits from increased odds of becoming a neighbor. Over time, established neighbors receive follow-up bonuses that must be claimed together via Telegram or Discord, just as the initial reward, reinforcing long-term connection. Meanwhile, the mayor of the City shapes the City's layout by placing special houses that form its streets and avenues. These houses can't have shortcodes, and their content can highlight notable people, ideas, or even links to other platforms and sites. The mayor is elected through community governance. CITY Token Initial Sale The CITY token is the native currency of Obyte City and is required to buy plots, except during the limited initial sale period from June 3 to June 30, 2025. During this sale, users can purchase plots directly with GBYTE at a fixed exchange rate of 1 GBYTE ($5.1) = 1,000 CITY. Each plot costs 1,000 CITY (equal to 1 GBYTE in the presale). To buy CITY in the initial sale, buyers of plots send an additional 0.1 GBYTE per plot, which grants them 100 liquid CITY tokens. CITY is also minted as rewards when users become neighbors and through follow-up incentives, while plot purchase fees are burned, offsetting emissions and making the token potentially deflationary. The initial token supply is zero. CITY is created and destroyed based on user activity, maintaining a dynamic balance that could tilt deflationary if many users exit plots early. 2025/26 WSL key dates confirmed
The Barclays Women's Super League have confirmed the dates for the 2025/26 campaign. It means the new top-flight season, along with the Championship, will kick-off across the weekend of the Saturday 6 September and Sunday 7 September. However, the WSL's final fixture weekend falls on Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May – a fortnight after the conclusion of the second-tier term. This is due to the European Championships taking place this summer in Switzerland from Wednesday 2 July to Sunday 27 July. CITY V EVERTON | BUY YOUR TICKETS As ever, there will be a winter break next season which runs from Monday 22 December to Sunday 4 January with league fixtures resuming across Saturday 10 January and Sunday 11 January.
