The grandson of an Immortal and a 'freak of a human' spearhead the NSW Combined Independent Schools' national title campaign. The NSW CIS will aim to take out the Under-15 ASSRL Nationals boys title for the third time in four years when they travel to Townsville at the end of the month. Every match of the ASSRL National Championships will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV across all News Corp Australia digital mastheads from June 29-July 4. FIND OUT HOW TO WATCH THE ASSRL NATIONALS LIVE NSW CIS have brought together a squad of 20 elite talents from a record number of initial trialists, with a towering prop, an elite fullback and the grandson of a rugby league legend leading the charge. A year after missing out on selection with the NSW CIS squad, Billy Beetson, the grandson of Roosters legend Artie, will make his debut at ASSRL level. Already contracted to the club synonymous with his last name, Beetson is a humble and hardworking backrower. 'He tried out last year and he didn't make it and the way he has come back and trialled this year, he has improved so much and clearly learned a lot,' NSW CIS manager Clint Maguire said. 'He is a totally different player to who he was last year. 'I don't think (the last name) impacts him. In all my dealings with him, I found he is down to Earth and just wants to learn. He wants to be a better footballer.' Beetson will be joined by Panthers-contracted prop forward Urijah Brown, 14, who has been reported to tower over his teammates at 6-foot-4 and tipping the scales at 115kg. 'He is a massive kid, but he has hands like a back,' Maguire said. 'He can ball play through the middle and has the ability to identify spaces and set up the guys around him. He is a freak.' Eels junior and Barker College First XV player Lorima Seuseu will be the key focal point in the NSW CIS attack with his impressive mix of speed and agility at fullback. Maguire said the NSW CIS side had spent time in a camp at Narrabeen in the lead up to the tournament where they outlined a set of principals which will underline their performance. 'It is about the CIS way, and what it means to pull on that jersey,' Maguire said. 'We have a set of non-negotiable principals around what CIS stands for. To be connected, impactful and selfless. To show commitment, intent and smarts.' Here's how much the illegal immigrant population has plummeted since Trump's return to the White House

The population of illegal immigrants in the US has dropped by an estimated 1 million since President Trump returned to the White House in January, according to a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies. The decline occurred between January and May as Trump ushered in a new mass deportation campaign and border lockdown, according to the report, which analyzed a household survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Migrants walking on a dirt road in Boulevard, Calif., after crossing the Mexico border in February 2024. James Keivom And it's 'perhaps due to their leaving in response to President Trump's election and stepped-up enforcement effort,' the report noted. There were an estimated 14.8 million illegal immigrants roaming the US in May, according to CIS' estimate. In January, CIS estimated that there were 15.4 million illegal immigrants in the United States, which jumped 50% as the Biden administration released record numbers of border jumpers into the country. Many of the illegal immigrants left on their own as Trump pushed them to 'self-deport,' CIS fellow Andrew Arthur noted in a recent op-ed for The Post. The Trump administration launched the CBP Home app in March to allow illegal immigrants to volunteer to leave the country on their own without facing any consequences. The White House also began paying for illegal immigrants' commercial flights home with an additional $1,000 payment for going back to their native countries. Line graph showing decline in non-citizen population from Latin America since December 2024. The massive drop is largely attributed to a 1.07 million 'falloff' in the population of non-citizens from Latin America who arrived in 1980 or later, which 'overlaps significantly with illegal immigrants,' Steven Camarota, who co-authored the report, told The Post. The number of foreign-born workers also dropped by 601,000 from January to May, according to the study. The total foreign-born population dropped 957,000 from January to May, which is 'one of the largest declines over a four-month period in the foreign-born in the last three decades, but it is not unprecedented,' according to the report. It also noted that it's possible that some undocumented immigrants didn't participate in the survey, fearing that they could be swept up in Trump's immigration raids as a result of sharing their status with the federal government.

Israel ‘immeasurably' stronger militarily since October 7

Incoming CIS Executive Director Michael Stutchbury discusses the future of the Israel-Iran conflict. Mr Stutchbury told Sky News host Paul Murray that Israel has got 'immeasurably' stronger as a military since the October 7 attack. 'The question there just three weeks ago, was, should Israel then take advantage of this great opportunity, historical opportunity, with Iran weakened, its proxies weakened … to take out its nuclear weapons facility?'

Extra: Agroterrorism? AI Weaponization? Student Spies? … A Look At How China Is Trying To Undermine the U.S.

Concerns about China's espionage campaign against the United States are growing. Most recently, China has faced scrutiny following the arrest of three Chinese nationals, including one who attempted to smuggle illegal biological materials, potentially harmful to crops, into the U.S. from a university in Wuhan, China. This has sparked fears about agroterrorism. Earlier this week, Jim Lewis, a former diplomat and senior advisor at the Center for International Studies (CIS), joined host Dave Anthony to discuss China's threat to the United States and how it is targeting America on multiple fronts. He described the troubling size and scope of their espionage campaign against the U.S. and how they are using student spies, AI, surveillance, and many other tactics to undermine America. We often must cut interviews short during the week, but we thought you might like to hear the full interview. Today on Fox News Rundown Extra, we will share our entire interview with former diplomat Jim Lewis, allowing you to learn more about China's tactics against the U.S. These adjustments aim to enhance readability and ensure grammatical consistency. Russia holds strong position in global AI race

Russia has maintained a strong position in the global race for artificial intelligence (AI), despite facing significant challenges, according to Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy CEO of Sber, the country's largest bank. Speaking to RT on Tuesday, Vedyakhin emphasized that Russia's continued progress in AI has been made possible by world-class mathematicians, talented engineers, and the bank's financial capacity to invest in innovation – even amid sanctions and chip shortages. 'The talent, strong motivation, and Sber's ability to invest have allowed us to overcome a number of constraints,' he said. While acknowledging that Russia lags behind AI frontrunners like the US and China by six to nine months on certain indicators, Vedyakhin pointed out that the country has achieved competitive results with a fraction of the investment made by competitors. He also noted that Russia is actively collaborating with major AI players such as China, India, and several members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). 'In particular, we have very strong ties with Uzbekistan, where we not only share expertise but also implement AI-based solutions – primarily in healthcare and social services,' Vedyakhin explained. Addressing growing concerns about AI-induced job losses, the executive compared the development of the technology to raising a child, stressing that it is humanity's responsibility to guide it in a positive direction.
