Aberdeen denied them a treble with a famous penalty shoot-out victory in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden in May. McGregor himself is a former UFC featherweight and Lightweight champion holding both titles at the same time - a historic first in the sport. And he alluded to that success in his post with the Celtic manager. McGregor wrote on twitter: "LEGENDARY DOUBLE CHAMP LINK UP! "NEXT YEAR, TREBLE! "God is great! "Congrats to the Rodgers family on the new addition to their family." Meanwhile, as the fixtures were announced for the new season, Rodgers says he is preparing for a tougher test this year ahead of facing a new-look Rangers team. He told Sky Sports: "We create our own benchmark and our own levels and we have been doing that consistently now. Update on future of Celtic-linked star as another club joins the race to sign Norwegian ace worth £7 million
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CELTIC could miss out on Norwegian winger Sondre Ørjasæter with reports suggesting another club has jumped to the front of the queue to land the 21-year-old. We told you how Ørjasæter was a top target for Brendan Rodgers' side in December, and the Scottish champions later opened talks with Sarpsborg about a potential deal. Orjasaeter scored six goals in 32 appearances for Sarpsborg last season, with their campaign finishing in December. He started every league game and also played in five games for the Norway Under-21s. Since then the left winger's played seven games since the Norwegian league started at the end of March, with one goal and three assists. He picked up a thigh injury in the May against Brann Bergen, but the injury has now cleared and he is fit and raring to go again. And the interest in the young talent is ramping up, according to reports. TV Sport 2 in Norway reckons it would take a bid of more than £11million to prise the star asset away from the Eliteserien. Both French side Lille and Celtic are credited shown interest. But the report claims Dutch club PSV is now leading the race for his signature, and says Orjasaeter is open to the move as he feels the Eredivisie would suit his style of play. Ørjasæter told the Norwegian outlet: "Now I feel ready to take the step, while I am doing well here with full focus on Sarpsborg. Eric Black on losing love for football & the ex-Celtic star who's the best he's ever seen "A transfer is not something I think about very much. "I think that if it happens, it happens. It's not like I'll be depressed if there's no transition." If Celtic were to miss out on the 21-year-old they are also looking at other options, with Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Antwerp on Brendan Rodgers' radar. Meanwhile, the club announced their second signing of the summer on Friday as goalkeeper Ross Doohan rejoins the club he started out as a youngster. The 27-year-old arrives on a free transfer and has signed a three-year deal. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Celtic announce second summer signing after Kieran Tierney as Brendan Rodgers hails star with ‘tremendous attitude'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CELTIC have confirmed the signing of Ross Doohan on a free transfer. SunSport told you last month how the Scotland international had penned a pre-contract to return to Parkhead this summer as a replacement for Scott Bain. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Ross Doohan is back at Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay Doohan, 27, left Aberdeen at the end of his contract following the Scottish Cup final win at Hampden and it didn't take long for Brendan Rodgers to swoop in. He's been handed a three-year deal in Glasgow. Doohan told the Celtic website: 'I'm over the moon. Coming through the Academy, spending 11 years there and now to be coming back, it's an amazing feeling. 'It was always the dream to come back. I knew at the starting point of my career that I needed to go away and play games and hopefully the opportunity would come up to come back to the club, which I always wanted to do and thankfully that's happened now. 'I'm buzzing to get going and to meet all the boys and hopefully it'll be another successful season for the club." Celts boss Rodgers said: 'I am really pleased that we are bringing Ross back to Celtic. He knows the club so well and has grown up understanding the demands of the club. 'He has gone away, got some great experience, really focused on developing himself at some good clubs, so much so that he has now achieved his first Scotland cap, a great moment for him and his family. 'Ross is a really talented goalkeeper, hungry to achieve more, but he is a humble guy with a tremendous attitude to the game. I am sure he can be a real asset to our squad'. Iconic US singer with over 125 million record sales given personalised Celtic top by up-and-coming Scots artist
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CELTIC had to settle for two rather than three trophies this year. But in the man behind Three Times a Lady, the Hoops may well have gained a new fan. 3 Brooke Combe has been supporting music icon Lionel Richie on his UK tour 3 Combe with Richie and the rest of the touring team 3 She gifted him a Celtic top as thanks for letting her gig with him Legendary US singer Lionel Richie kicked off the UK leg of his latest tour in Glasgow earlier this month. And joining him on stage has been up-and-coming Scots artist Brooke Combe. Soul icon Richie, 75, has been on the road for his Say Hello To The Hits tour. Combe, 23, has had a breakout year with her album Dancing at the Edge of the World after going viral on the back of a cover of Yes Sir I Can Boogie, the song that powered the Scotland national team to the Euros. A self-confessed Celtic fanatic, Combe took the opportunity to mark her time touring with Richie by gifting him a personalised Hoops top. The songstress posted a picture of them together on her social media accounts after their final concert, in which she's holding up a Celtic shirt with RICHIE 25 on the back. Richie himself can be seen holding a box covered in Celtic badges with what looks like several more jerseys inside, perhaps intended for his backing singers, crew and entourage. Combe called the experience of gigging with the Dancing on the Ceiling singer one she "won't be forgetting anytime soon." Her post on Instagram read: "What a tour! Class crowds, top laughs, & memories myself & the band won't be forgetting anytime soon. "Huge thanks to @lionelrichie & his team for being the most amazing/inspiring group of people I've had the pleasure of working alongside the last few weeks. Celtic transfer special - Nygren in and Kyogo to return "Keep saying it but not many people get the chance, at 25, to hit the road with a true music legend. What a legacy Lionel has created. Beyond grateful. "Before I cancelled those gigs last year, my world was falling down but I took time for myself, got healthier & I've never felt better. What a boss six months this has been. "Thanks & hi to all the folks that came down early each night too. "All the best. "Brooke X." US pop star spotted in Celtic tracksuit top at glitzy red carpet ceremony as wild fans say ‘want my season ticket?'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FANS have been left shocked after seeing a huge US pop star turn up on the red carpet wearing a CELTIC tracksuit top. The Capital Summertime Ball, hosted by Capital FM, saw a number of high profile artists descend on Wembley Stadium in London last night including Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Myles Smith, Busted and McFly. Rapp has had a breakout 12 months as she branched into film, playing the part of Regina George in the 2024 musical adaption of Mean Girls. She played the same role on Broadway as a replacement for Taylor Louderman and won new fans with an appearance on Saturday Night Live. Rapp performed several of her favourite songs to the 80,000 strong audience at Wembley wearing a pair of black hot pants, a ripped white t-shirt and leather jacket, plus a pair of heeled boots. Before that outfit change however, she stunned fans by rocking up to the red carpet in CELTIC gear. Rapp sported a green zip-up jacket with a Celtic badge on the chest and the sleeve, with yellow and white lines on the sleeve and collar. The garment looks to be a retro piece from Celtic's days sponsored by Nike. Indeed, a version of the top is going on eBay for £62 at the moment - and it's perhaps no coincidence that it's sold out on second-hand retailer GPS Vintage. She paired the vintage jacket with a grey plaid midi skirt and black knee high boots, with a black handbag and sunglasses for good measure. As images dropped from the red carpet and clips began to circulate of Rapp taking part in interviews wearing the garment, fans rushed to share their excitement. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up One ecstatic fan wrote: "RENEE IN A CELTIC TOP MY NEW PERSONALITY." Another said: "Just saw Renee Rapp in a Celtic jacket, MON THE HOOPS, love her." "Renee Rapp wearing a Celtic jacket today oh she is so real for that," said another. While this fan said: "As if I couldn't be any more in love with her." One astounded Hoops supporter exclaimed: "This is literally life changing @reneerapp lmk if you want a loan of my season ticket." Before this fan commented: "Renee Rapp in a Celtic top is not what I expected to see today." Rapp herself gave a slight suggestion into why she was wearing the jacket - and whether she is a Celtic fan... (she has been spotted at Boston Celtics basketball games before). In an interview with ITN, she confessed to having no knowledge of what tartan is after being quizzed about her plaid skirt. After the reporter noticed the Celtic badge, they said Rapp looked "very Scottish" and could be considered "an honorary Scot". To which she replied: "Yeah, this is all my grandfather... he made this." 7 Rapp seemed unaware of the potential impact of her outfit Credit: ITN 7 She explained that her grandfather had something to do with it Credit: ITN 7 She showed off the badge to a stunned Scots reporter on the red carpet Credit: ITN Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
