Cyberpunk 2077's next update may add more features to NCART metro system

When the game initially launched, players expected a usable metro system for traversing Night City, but only hollow station shells serving as fast travel points were available. Years and multiple updates later, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen significant improvements, making it nearly unrecognisable from its initial release state. Despite these advancements, the metro system, even after update 2.1, has not yet reached its full potential. The latest update, version 2.1, introduced functional subway rides with 19 NCART stations across five colour-coded lines, offering an immersive, though passive, travel experience. However, this feature is reportedly seen by some as a partial measure compared to what was originally envisioned for a fully explorable and interactive metro system. Such an addition could fulfil an early promise, deepen the city's worldbuilding, and enhance moment-to-moment immersion. How Cyberpunk 2077's next update can upgrade NCART metro system Cyberpunk 2077's current NCART metro system focuses more on creating atmosphere than providing utility. After progressing past the Konpeki Plaza heist, players can access metro stations to fast travel or ride trains in real time, but the experience is largely passive. Players can't walk around trains, interact with NPCs, or explore station interiors beyond brief cutscenes. According to a report by Gamerant, modders have already shown that a more interactive and realistic metro experience is possible, suggesting CD Projekt Red (CDPR) could expand the system in future updates. Enhancements could include explorable platforms, embedded quests, and dynamic interactions that reflect Night City's social hierarchy, such as cleaner, secure stations in Corpo zones and rundown, graffiti-covered ones in gang territories. Moreover, introducing ambient NPC routines—like commuters, JoyToys, or recurring characters—could deepen immersion, the report adds. The current system lacks incentive, making fast travel and vehicles more efficient. CDPR may fix this in Update 2.3 by offering gameplay perks like stealth bonuses for using public transit or unlocking hidden objectives in gang zones, the report adds. Beyond narrative depth, a fuller NCART system could improve accessibility for players who prefer not to drive. Stations could act as mission hubs, vendors, and fixers, offering streamlined map navigation. Personal touches, like in-game messages from allies during train rides, could turn metro travel into a reflective, immersive part of the journey. Even if not fully realised in Cyberpunk 2077, these ideas could lay the foundation for a more robust system in the sequel, Cyberpunk 2 (Project Orion). ‘Cyberpunk 2077' Is The Switch 2's #2 Launch Game
Cyberpunk 2077 While the Switch 2's primary launch game is obviously Mario Kart World, a number of ports of older games have landed on the system as well, and not just 'upgraded' Switch 1 titles. The highest profile example would be CDPR working hard to make a version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch 2, a game that may very well be the best-looking game on high-end PCs but had notorious problems running on last-gen consoles. But CDPR managed to develop a version that works on the Switch 2, including its handheld mode. It's certainly not perfect, but it's been attractive enough to now become the #2 best-selling game on the system, at least initially. In the US, Cyberpunk 2077 is the second best-selling game both in the eShop and in terms of physical copies moved. Physical: eShop: Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR recently announced that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 30 million copies since its launch over four years ago, and being a key part of the Switch 2 launch, a console that has just broken every initial sales record, is going to be a huge boost for further expansion. CDPR has previously said they're done updating Cyberpunk, but that has not turned out to be true, as the game keeps getting new additions through patches now through the help of support studios as CDPR moves on to start making the Cyberpunk sequel, parallel to the development of The Witcher 4. Though that ultimately did not hurt the Switch 1 at all, so if it follows that same path? Who cares, really? As for Cyberpunk 2077, over the past few years, I have come to realize that it's my favorite video game of all time, an honor I do not bestow likely. Even if this isn't rendering with perfect performance with all the bells and whistles of PC, it's without question worth playing on whatever hardware you can get your hands on. The Nintendo Switch 2 Should Get Its Most Important App Soon
Switch 2 The Nintendo Switch 2 is out and has sold millions of copies already. Its game roster is mostly reprised hits, with only a few truly new entries (Mario Kart World), but owners also want the handheld to be able to do more than just play games. As it stands, there is no YouTube app on the Nintendo Switch 2, mirroring the issue that the Switch 1 had for a long while. The original Switch was launched on March 3, 2017 and it did not get the much-requested YouTube app until November 8, 2018, over a year later. Nintendo and Google are apparently both trying to avoid that kind of lengthy wait this time around. The YouTube team app responded to a fan asking about the issue, and got a response: I'm not sure a list of other devices that play YouTube is helpful here. The timeline here is 'soon,' which I take to mean less than a year like we saw with the Switch 1. I am amazed that Nintendo has been making this console for probably half a decade and once again it launched without key dedicated video apps, YouTube included. I'm not clear on how they can get CDPR to tireless work on making Cyberpunk 2077 work well on the Switch but they can't figure out how to get YouTube or Hulu on the system for launch. It's bizarre. This is one of those things where I think we give Nintendo too much slack about, the fact that the console can launch with almost no actually new games and not even a ton of standard apps that it should have for day one. But hey, it's Nintendo and Nintendo always gets passes. Hopefully we hear more about this soon from a source other than what a help account bot, but I have to believe it's a priority on at least Google's side, if not Nintendo's. I've played 8 Nintendo Switch 2 launch games — here's the 3 I'd buy first (Mario Kart World isn't one of them)
The Nintendo Switch 2 is out in the wild, and the first question most early adopters will be asking themselves is 'Which launch games should I buy first?' The obvious answer is Mario Kart World, but I'm going to be controversial here and say that Mario's latest karting adventure isn't the most essential title on the Switch 2 at launch. Don't get me wrong, it's plenty of fun, but I'm not convinced some of its changes are for the better, and I currently prefer the familiar comforts of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. During my first 24 hours with Nintendo Switch 2, I have played more than half a dozen titles that have convinced me this hybrid system already has a pretty healthy library right out of the gate. From Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to the surprisingly enjoyable console showcase Nintendo Switch Welcome Tour, there are plenty of great games on Switch 2. After testing eight different games on my first day with the Nintendo Switch 2, here are the three that I recommend you pick up first if you've just secured the hybrid console for yourself. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was already a phenomenal game on platforms like PS5 and PC, so it's hardly a surprise that it's fantastic on Nintendo Switch 2. The open-world RPG from The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red sees you play a mercenary named V in the dark sci-fi megalopolis Night City and is packed with intense missions to complete and memorable characters to meet. It's pretty widely considered one of the best RPGs of recent times for a reason. What makes it such a standout in the Switch 2's launch library is that it's a pretty demanding title. It infamously ran atrociously on PS4 and Xbox One at launch in 2020. The fact that it's running, and running seriously well on the Nintendo Switch 2 — even better than on the Steam Deck — is the first sign that Nintendo's new hardware has some serious horsepower under the hood. Yes, it's not as visually lush as on a top-end gaming PC, or a PS5 Pro, and you won't get a 60 fps framerate, but the graphical compromises on Switch 2 are surprisingly slight, and having such a vast experience on a handheld is still awesome even in an era of gaming where powerful portables are becoming pretty standard. Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 is the definitive way to enjoy CDPR's critically acclaimed first-person open-world RPG on the go. You play a mercenary named V, completing missions in the dark city of the future, Night City, though your main aim is surviving the chaos that surrounds you. This Ultimate Edition also includes the essential Phantom Liberty DLC expansion, which opens up a new area of the map, the ruthless Dogtown. Am I cheating here by listing both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as a single list entry? You bet I am, but it's my list, I make the rules. Okay, if pushed for a single choice, I'd opt for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but the games are so closely linked that I think you can make the case for them being included in a single entry. Plus, Nintendo has been grouping them together in marketing materials, so don't @ me! Regardless of your first pick, these are two of the best games of all time, Breath of the Wild was my first ever Zelda game back in 2017 on the original Nintendo Switch and it's focus on largely unguided exploration, coupled with ingenious puzzles and surprisingly tricky combat resulted in an experience that very few titles since have managed to match in the past almost decades. Meanwhile, Tears of the Kingdom builds upon Breath of the Wild in seriously interesting ways by expanding your arsenal of abilities, and includes some of the most satisfying head-scratchers I've ever encountered in a video game. Just being able to manipulate objects and stick them together to create all sorts of inventions is pure Nintendo brilliance. The problem with these games was always the hardware they were confined to. The original Switch just wasn't powerful enough for such vast games, with so many physics-driven systems at its core. Blurry textures and framerate drops were an all too common problem. But thanks to their Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades, both games now play with a near-perfect framerate and look better than ever. Frankly, Tears of the Kingdom is so good on Switch 2, I'm tempted to return to my 4.5 out of 5 review from 2023 and now bump it up to a perfect score. The original Switch's definitive launch game has returned for the Switch 2, and now it's been enhanced for Nintendo's new hardware. It's the masterpiece you (probably) know, but looking and running better than ever. If you've never played Breath of the Wild, there really isn't a better time to jump into Hyrule than via this Switch 2 Edition. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the incredible direct follow-up to Breath of the Wild, and sees Link once again exploring a vast open Hyrule, as he hunts for answers regarding the mysterious gloom infecting the lands. whereabouts. This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition boosts both image clarity and framerate, making it the definitive way to enjoy one of the best games of recent years. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour took a lot of punches when it was revealed during the Nintendo Direct event. This collection of tech demos and micro-games is designed to showcase the unique features of the Switch 2, like the Mouse Mode and Joy-Con 2 controllers' HD rumble 2. The internet (and to be honest, myself as well at the time) declared that it should have been a free pack-in title ala Astro's Playroom on PS5 or Wii Sports on the Nintendo Wii. I do still think Nintendo probably should have given this game away for free with each Switch 2 console. However, after playing it myself, I'm pleasantly surprised. Is it worth the $10 cost? I think so (just). The whole experience is set within a giant Nintendo Switch 2, which has been retrofitted to be a museum-like hub. You pick a basic avatar and then run around collecting stamps and medals by completing mini-games and acing quizzes that test you on a series of fact files you just read. Granted, the latter activity does feel quite a lot like completing a training module at work! One micro-game, which casts you as a mini UFO trying to avoid falling objects using the Joy-Con 2 Mouse Mode, had me hooked for a good 15 minutes, as I was eager to beat the preset high score. Yes, it's a simple experience, but the clean art style is appealing, and it's very novel in concept. I've also already found Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour to be a great game to pick up if you want to showcase the console to your non-gamer friends and family, as it can be picked up and enjoyed with basically zero familiarity with gaming and controller experience. The $10 price point also makes it appealing if you're looking for an extra launch game that won't cost you a full $60-70. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour serves as a fantastic way to get familiar with the brand-new console. Set within a giant Switch 2, you walk around a Museum-like setting and complete micro-games and tech demos that showcase the console's new features, and also learn more about the technology that powers the Switch 2.

Fool Me Eight Times: ‘Cyberpunk 2077' Releasing Big New 2.3 Patch Soon
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty CDPR has previously made a big show of the fact that it was moving on to Cyberpunk 2077's next iteration, the sequel codenamed Orion. That involved ceasing development 2077 shortly after its 2.0 Phantom Liberty expansion dropped, but that…did not turn out to be the case. It's an ongoing joke at this point that despite the fact that CDPR says it's done with Cyberpunk 2077, they keep making new patches. And now a big one is on the horizon. CDPR has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.3 will arrive on June 26. As a full 'point' numbered patch, it's going to be a big one. Here's what happened in the last two big patches: Patch 2.1 Patch 2.2 Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR There have been other patches in between these that are mostly technical in nature or adding somewhat minor new things. But the point being, the game has received significant updates since Phantom Liberty launched in 2023. This 2.3 patch came up during a CDPR stream where they were asked about new DLC for the game. They revealed the patch was coming, but I believe they consider the above features to be technically DLC, rather than say, an expansion like Phantom Liberty. Still, there are recent hints that there may be at least some new quests in development for a future update, maybe this one, based on job listings. Why now? Well, CDPR really didn't seem to need a reason before, but this new update will come a month after Cyberpunk 2077 has launched on Nintendo Switch 2, something of a technical miracle that they were able to make that happen on a handheld system with those specs. It's a potential new audience getting to play the entire game up to patch 2.2 from the start, which is awesome. But now, 2.3 will be here soon and I'm guessing it will be similar to the last two.
