Singer and former One Direction member, Liam Payne, died on October 16 last year after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. Now, nearly eight months after his death, his girlfriend, influencer Kate Cassidy, shared a heartbreaking message in his memory, calling him her "best friend" and someone she still misses deeply. The photos showed Liam and Kate smiling together, enjoying each other's company. Along with the pictures, Kate wrote a long caption in which she opened up about her pain, mentioning how Liam was someone she thought she had "so much more time and life left to share with." She described how much she misses him and how difficult it is to adjust to life without him. Liam was the kind of person you'd start missing the moment you walked out the door. Even when leaving the house for a few hours, I'd find myself rushing home to be with him again out of excitement," she wrote in her post. "Now, facing the reality that I live in a constant state of missing you is something I still can't fully wrap my head around. Knowing I can't just come home and see you, hear your voice, or feel your hug--it's a type of pain I can't fully put into words. I can't seem to tell if life is flying by without you or moving so slowly that none of it fully makes sense. But I am trying to live my life as best I can for now and live it for you. I miss you more than words can say. One day, I'll see you again, and I'll have so much to tell you. So much to catch up on. I love you, my angel. 444," she added. The 30-year-old singer fell from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo hotel after reportedly spending the day consuming whiskey and cocaine. His sudden and tragic death left the music industry and his global fanbase in shock.

Contestants perform alone in sound booths and choose potential bandmates based only on their voices and musical compatibility. The goal is to create groups built purely on talent and connection, not on visuals or image. Once the bands are formed, the real test begins. The singers meet face-to-face for the first time, rehearse, choreograph, and prepare for performances. The show follows them through every stage, from blind auditions to rehearsals to final showcases, as they try to prove that chemistry in music can come before appearances. Building the Band starts with solo performances in isolation booths, like that of 24-year-old Donzell from Arkansas, who sings Labrinth's 'Jealous.' Their identities remain hidden until the groups are formed, making the process focused purely on sound and potential. The release is structured over three weeks: July 9 – Episodes 1 to 4 July 16 – Episodes 5 to 7 July 23 – Episodes 8 to 10 The host, judge and mentors Building the Band is hosted by AJ McLean, known for being part of the Backstreet Boys. Nicole Scherzinger leads as judge and mentor, drawing on her own experience in a pop group. Guest appearances include Kelly Rowland, offering her perspective from her time in Destiny's Child. The show also features the late Liam Payne as a guest judge. His segments were filmed before his passing and have been included with the approval of his family. This marks his final on-screen appearance.

Liam Payne's Family Approves His Inclusion in Netflix's ‘Building the Band'
When Netflix premieres its latest musical competition series 'Building the Band' next month, the late Liam Payne will be featured as a guest judge. Thankfully, his family 'has reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion,' the streamer shared on Wednesday. 'Building the Band' will essentially combine elements of 'Love Is Blind' and 'Making the Band' in order to give contestants the chance to craft their ideal musical group … all without seeing each other face-to-face. Payne will be a guest judge on the reality TV series opposite mentor and head judge Nicole Scherzinger, host AJ McLean and fellow guest judge Kelly Rowland. The One Direction singer filmed the show prior to his death in October 2024. He was 31. All four of the aforementioned names, of course, come with plenty of expertise to share about being in bands — Payne was famously part of 1D after being put together on 'The X Factor,' while Scherzinger was in The Pussycat Dolls, Rowland was in Destiny's Child and McLean was in The Backstreet Boys. Netflix's musical competition series, Building the Band, will premiere on the streaming service this summer. The first four episodes will make their debut on July 9, three more will appear on July 16, and the final batch is set for July 23. Netflix had previously paused production on the series following the death of one of its judges, Liam Payne. In the series, a group of singers attempts to build chemistry with each other — eventually forming a band — by singing with one another in booths. They're not able to see each other, similar to Netflix's dating show, Love Is Blind. Once the bands are in place, they meet and see each other for the first time, hoping they'll have chemistry and the choreography chops to pull off a working ensemble. 'Liam Payne's family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion,' Netflix wrote in a statement. Payne's segment of the show was filmed last July, months before his October death. 'He remembered people's names and was chatty and approachable,' Simon Hay, the show's shooting producer-director, told Rolling Stone in an interview for the magazine's in-depth investigation into Payne's death. Another crew member described Payne as 'egalitarian and charming' on set. That crew member also recalled that Payne 'really wanted to help' the participants on the show. 'That was the extra gut punch when I heard the terrible news,' the source said. 'He wouldn't be able to help them anymore.' 'He and I immediately connected on not only a music level but a human level,' McLean told Rolling Stone, 'like we both were living a parallel life. There was a lot of funny boy-band jabs that we would take at each other. He really had a quick wit to him — that nice, dry, British humor.'
