Donald Trump sends message to wrestling legend Brock Lesnar's daughter after major sporting success

Donald Trump has paid a glowing tribute to the daughter of wrestling icon Brock Lesnar after she won a major college athletics title. Mya Lesnar won the NCAA shot put title with a first-round toss of 19.01 meters earlier this month to become the first Rams athlete to win an outdoor event title since Loree Smith did so in 2005. Just the sixth Colorado State athlete to win outdoor gold, the younger Lesnar previously won the NCAA indoor shot put title in 2024. What's more, the 23-year-old is the only competitor in program history to win both indoor and outdoor titles. She followed in the footsteps of her father, who was actually an NCAA title winner as a heavyweight wrestler at Minnesota. Now Maya has received some special praise from the president, who took to Truth Social on Thursday night to send his congratulations. Mya Lesnar of the Colorado State Rams competes in the shot put during the Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship held at Hayward Field Trump wrote: 'Congratulations to Mya Lesnar on the WIN — Great Genetics!' 'Heck yeah it was. It was pretty awesome,' Lesnar told the school's athletics website, after her victory. 'Obviously throws like that don't happen often, and to do it on my first one was pretty cool. I just went calm, hit my cues. [Rams coach Brian] Bedard and I have tons of trust, and that's exactly what we did. 'I think it had more of an effect for me. It meant more for me to do it on the first one, to start off the competition strong. A lot of the other ladies responded. It was awesome.' While her 19.01m effort remained the best throw of the day, Mya would nearly top it with an 18.8m effort for the top two results of the day. Remarkably, Rams coach Brian Bedard thinks Mya is actually capable of much more. 'I still think she missed the big one today because in training we've been seeing throws in the 19.30-meter range, so she didn't quite put it together,' Bedard said. 'She probably had a B-plus day for her, but when a training is going so well to have a big margin that she can maybe not hit her best and win it is awesome. 'It was a great start for her. We've been working on the mental game and trying to have some joy when she competes and really simplify some technical cues and managing excitement levels and all that, and I thought she did that today. When she came up and talked to me between throws, she had a really good awareness of what she was doing in the throw and what she was feeling. I just loved her mindset today. It was mature.' To put Mya's top throw into perspective, China's Lijiao Gong won the shot put at the Tokyo Games in 2023 with a toss of 20.58. Mya's toss Thursday would have been sixth in Tokyo To put Mya's top throw into perspective, China's Lijiao Gong won the women's shot put at the Tokyo Games in 2023 with a toss of 20.58. Mya's toss would have been good enough for sixth place in that tournament. Mya has gone viral in recent years both for her sensational athletic ability and her striking resemblance to famous father Brock. Back in 2023 the track and field athlete grabbed headlines after breaking the shot put record at Colorado State with a superb 18.50 attempt, while she also claimed three straight Mountain West Conference titles. Brock, who has not featured in WWE since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023, is one of the wrestling's most celebrated stars and a highly-successful combat-sport athlete.

Brock Lesnar's daughter wins NCAA Division I women's shot put championship

The Lesnar genes are reigning supreme. Mya Lesnar, the daughter of WWE legend and former UFC champion Brock Lesnar, earned the NCAA Division I women's shot put crown on Friday. The Colorado State senior added to her already-impressive resume with her first outdoor track and field title - she won the indoor title in the 2023-24 season. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON Lesnar was unable to defend that championship earlier this year, despite winning the Mountain West championship. (She finished fourth at nationals.) But she came to the outdoor season with a vengeance. Her very first throw went 19.01 meters (62 feet, 4.5 inches), and no one else came particularly close for the rest of the meet. In fact, no else reached the 62-feet mark. "It was pretty cool. Obviously, throws like that don't happen often. To do it on my first one is pretty cool," Lesnar said after the meet. "It meant more to me to do it on the first one and start the competition strong." WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPION TIFFANY STRATTON GOES VIRAL AFTER FIRST PITCH AT METS GAME GOES HORRIBLY WRONG Earlier this season, Lesnar threw a career-best 19.60 meters, or 64'3.75". That is currently the seventh-longest throw by a woman this year. Lesnar has been named to both the indoor and outdoor All-Mountain West teams in each of the last three years. She also earned the conference's weight throw title during the 2023-24 indoor season. But it had been "a while" since she was "number one again." "A lot of emotions. A lot of hard work. A lot of dedication. And then just executing, not overthinking," she said. Lesnar's father won a national championship while wrestling at the University of Minnesota in 2000 in the 285-pound category. After that, he became an instant hit in the WWE, becoming the youngest person to be the company's main title belt at the age of 25 just two years later. WWE legend Brock Lesnar's daughter Mya makes history after winning NCAA national shot put title

BROCK LESNAR'S daughter Mya has reached new heights after setting a college record. The 23-year-old senior out of Colorado State threw 19.01 meters in the first round to win the NCAA shot put championship. 5 5 Since Loree Smith's 2005 victory in an outdoor event, she is the only Rams athlete to achieve so, and joins her former WWE star father in securing a national crown, with Brock, a heavyweight wrestler at Minnesota winning an NCAA title back in 2000. Mya, who had won the indoor championship in 2024, is keen to make her own way despite the talk around her famous dad. Mya's high throw of 62 feet, 4 1/2 inches was part of her incredible effort that helped seal the win. Every participant gets three chances, but Mya got an early edge by making a statement with a throw that exceeded 60 feet. At 61 feet, 10 1/4 inches, Illinois athlete Abria Smith's third throw put her in second place. Nevertheless, Mya easily won with her second-best throw of 61 feet, 11 inches. Her ecstatic father Brock watched from the stands as she would go on to keep the family name in the national rafters. The younger Lesnar earlier won the NCAA indoor shot put title in 2024, making him just the sixth Colorado State athlete to earn outdoor gold. Mya is now the only athlete in program history to win both indoor and outdoor championships. After transferring from Arizona State to CSU, Mya became one of the country's best collegiate throwers under coach Brian Bedard. She came into this week's competition as the top seed in the country after placing sixth at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Last summer, she would go on to win an Olympic bronze with her personal best score of 64 feet, 3 3/4 inches. "Heck yeah it was. It was pretty awesome," Lesnar said to the school's athletics website, on her triumph. "Obviously throws like that don't happen often, and to do it on my first one was pretty cool. I just went calm, hit my cues. [Rams coach Brian] Bedard and I have tons of trust, and that's exactly what we did." As stated, her achievements echoes her famous father. Brocl came back from a losing position in double overtime to win 3-2 in one of the most thrilling tournament finals ever. In addition to starting a career that would include celebrity status in the WWE, UFC, and a brief NFL stint, that victory culminated a 50-2 record at Minnesota. 5 5 His daughter's ascent to NCAA greatness now partially matches his remarkably powerful athletic past. Since his final in-ring performance at SummerSlam 2023, Brock has been absent from the professional wrestling industry.

There's truth to the saying: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The 23-year-old Colorado State athlete secured victory with her first throw of 19.01 metres on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, with her father, Brock, watching. Throws like that don't happen often, and to achieve it on my first attempt was special. I stayed calm and focused," Lesnar told reporters. 'Coach Brian Bedard and I have a strong bond of trust, which played a significant role. It meant a lot to start the competition strong. Many of the other competitors responded well. It was great." Lesnar, who claimed the women's shot put title at last year's NCAA Division I indoor track and field championships, also recorded the second-best throw of the event with an 18.87 metres effort. Only Illinois' Abria Smith posed any challenge to Lesnar's dominance, coming close with an 18.85 metres throw on her third attempt. Much like her father, known as 'The Beast' in WWE, Mya has made a name for herself in the shot put world, having previously won the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor T&F Championship, and the 2024 Indoors. Brock Lesnar, Mya's father, is one of wrestling's most celebrated stars and was the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion for nearly two years between November 2008 and October 2010. Additionally, Brock Lesnar has not appeared for WWE since his match against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023 and has kept a low profile following his involvement in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis last year.
