A cultural milestone is set to take centre stage this December as tickets officially go on sale for Once Upon A Time in Dubai , a landmark production being hailed as the region's most ambitious musical to date. More than just another show, Once Upon A Time in Dubai is poised to redefine the entertainment landscape in the Middle East. Opening at The Agenda in Dubai Media City, the production is the first original large-scale musical fully conceived and created in the UAE, blending Broadway-level storytelling with the rhythm and spirit of one of the world's most dynamic cities. At the helm is Stéphane Boukris, a visionary entrepreneur and cultural innovator, who has brought together an international ensemble of creatives and performers to craft a narrative rooted in ambition, diversity, and transformation — hallmarks of modern Dubai. The production is co-produced by Universal Music Group MENA, further underscoring its global scale and sonic prowess. 'This show is a tribute to everything Dubai represents: ambition, diversity, and the power to build your own destiny,' says Boukris. 'We are creating something people will never forget.' An All-Star Team of Global Talent Behind the curtain is a world-class crew, with credits that include Céline Dion , Disney productions , and Arabs Got Talent . From choreography to lighting, every element has been shaped by specialists working at the top of their craft. Leading the stage direction is Johan Nus, supported by a multicultural team and a cast of rising stars including Amanda Maalouf ( X Factor ) and Joe Woolford ( The Voice UK ). A Story That Reflects a Generation The plot follows Will, a young English dancer who arrives in Dubai searching for his lost love, Sophia. His journey introduces him to a city teeming with artists, entrepreneurs, and dreamers — culminating in a stirring tale of courage, reinvention, and belonging. The musical features over 20 original songs composed by Nazim Khaled, with early releases like 'Habibi' , 'Stranger in the World' , and 'Think Big' already resonating with audiences across platforms. More Than a Show — A City-Wide Movement Anticipated to attract over 150,000 spectators across 55 performances, Once Upon A Time in Dubai has already captured the imagination of the city with an immersive campaign spanning multiple sectors. Strategic partnerships with McDonald's, Carrefour MAF, Careem, Accor, Mall of the Emirates, Tilal Al Ghaf, and GEMS Education are amplifying its presence across retail, transport, and hospitality. From Hala taxis playing the musical's soundtrack, to QR codes in malls and school showcases for aspiring young performers, the show is igniting a cultural movement across Dubai. Disney reveals new £826million cruise ship launching this year based on ‘heroes and villains'
DISNEY has unveiled the first look at a new $1.1 billion (£826million) cruise ship based on 'heroes and villains'. Disney Destiny will be the newest addition to Disney's cruise ship fleet and this one will be themed around classic Disney villains and heroes. 8 8 8 On the cruise ship, characters expected to a make an appearance include Marvel superheroes and traditional villains such as Maleficent, Loki, and Dr. Facilier. The theme of 'good and evil' will be present throughout the ship with the design, architecture, entertainment and dining all embracing the theme. The Grand Hall is a Marvel-themed area and features a statue of Black Panther King T'Challa. Meanwhile, the ship's exterior design will boast the legendary Minnie Mouse standing heroically on the bow. The very first Marvel hero, Spider-Man, will be featured on the stern. As for the onboard entertainment, passengers can expect Broadway-level stage shows, such as Hercules and there will be a number of interactive performances and immersive storytelling. Travellers will be able to choose their 'side', with multiple different zones and activities featuring heroes or villains. For fine dining, there will be a Lion King -themed restaurant based around the Pride Lands, which will have an immersive food experience and narrative. The restaurant will be the first-of-its-kind with a musical dining experience celebrating Simba's journey to fulfill his destiny as King of the Pride Lands. For something sweeter, Edna Á La Mode from The Incredibles will have her own sweet shop, with unique confectionary. Inside our family trip to Disney World in Florida Other eateries will include casual dining with ocean views in the marketplace. It will feature 10 counters offering favourites and international specialties. There will be two walkup cafes and Mickey's Smokestack BBQ, Donald's Cantina, Daisy's Pizza Pies, Goofy's Grill and Minnie's Delights. One of the 'evil' destinations onboard will celebrate a classic Disney villain - Cruella De Vil - with her very own Piano Lounge. The AquaMouse ride is Disney Cruise Line's signature water attraction and onboard Destiny, it will feature a new storyline with Disney Animation villains and an original soundtrack composed by Emmy Award-winning composer, Christopher Willis. 8 8 8 The Disney Destiny will offer four and five-night cruises through The Bahamas and Western Caribbean, to Disney's private ports - Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point. Bookings for the cruise are expected to open later this year. The vessel will head off on a maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale in Florida on November 20. Bluffton Youth Theater asking for help to avoid a final curtain call
BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) — For the past decade, one family has poured their heart and soul into a dream that has brought joy and opportunity to children of all abilities. The Bluffton Youth Theater has been a beacon of creativity, giving children and special needs children a chance to shine in drama productions. But now, after 10 years of hard work and dedication, the theater may be at risk of closing its curtains for good. 'It's more than just a theater. It's a whole world we're trying to create,' said Cynthia Ford, director and founder of the Bluffton Youth Theater. Through Broadway-level shows, the theater has embraced a unique blend of children and special needs castmates, offering them an outlet for expression and growth. After witnessing the incredible talent displayed by the children involved, Ford had a vision for a bigger stage and a nicer facility to accommodate the growing needs of the theater. 'This is like a 12,000 square foot building, but we've been renovating it for probably two years,' said Ford. Two years ago, they took over a new space and began the tiring task of renovations. Their vision included a handicap-accessible theater, a sensory room, a sound room, and more – all designed to provide the best possible environment for the young cast and crew. They hoped to unveil the renovated space with a grand opening last August, showcasing all the new features. However, they quickly encountered rising construction costs, skyrocketing equipment expenses, and an increase in rent and HOA fees. These financial hurdles caused significant delays to their plans. 'It's just much more than I expected because of the unforeseen costs over this whole year,' Ford said. 'Just delays and construction costs, things we did not realize in the building, which, you know, keeps setting us behind.' Now, as this year's grand opening draws near, the theater is still facing the same setbacks. Despite these challenges, the show must go on. All Ford is asking for, is a little support from the community. 'If you could just help us get over the little hill here… a little hump,' she said. Ford is holding on tightly to something they've worked so hard to build. She doesn't want to let go of the dream that has meant so much to so many.
