Actor Brian Baumgartner shares his take on the Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season

Actor Brian Baumgartner shares his take on the Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Actor Brian Baumgartner about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, and his thoughts on Super Bowl LIX and the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward. Baumgartner, known for his role as Kevin Malone on the hit show The Office, hosted the official media day for this year's tournament. "Thank you for asking me a sports-related question," said Baumgartner, "I mean, look, it's two unbelievable teams. It was a lot of fun. I won some money, and so that's all I care about. I think it's going to be really, really interesting this year in the AFC. I'm not calling the Chiefs done by any means, but I think the AFC is going to be really competitive. Don't be surprised if the Packers make a run this year in the NFC." Baumgartner, a well-known Green Bay Packers fan, hopes his team will take another step forward in 2025. He will be among the many celebrities competing next month, including Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC and a first-place prize of $150,000 make the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world.

Contractor sues owner of new Chili's over unpaid invoices

SCRANTON — A local construction firm is suing the owner of the recently opened Office-themed Chili's in Dickson City for over $100,000 in unpaid invoices. But, in a formal response, Chili's owners say they did not request the additional work in question be done and they were billed at an inflated rate for that additional work. Chili's Grill & Bar opened on April 7 at 3905 Commerce Blvd., shortly after completion of construction. The Texas-based casual dining chain's first Lackawanna County location drew a lot of interests from fans of 'The Office,' which repeatedly referenced the restaurant in its NBC mockumentary set in Scranton — even though there was never a Chili's in the real Scranton. Brian Baumgartner, who played accountant Kevin Malone on 'The Office,' and Kate Flannery, who played Meredith Palmer, pose in front of the Chili's Scranton Branch chalk mural that will greet diners in Dickson City. (COURTESY OF CHILI'S) Lawsuit filed In a lawsuit filed on April 23 in Lackawanna County Court against Chili's owner MSP Properties of Pennsylvania, Don Scartelli Construction Services and General Contractors Inc. claims their firm did work beyond the initial proposal at the request of MSP Properties. According to the lawsuit: Scartelli Construction accepted numerous requests from MSP to do additional work through phone calls, texts and emails and it performed that work on weekends, during emergencies and in challenging winter weather conditions. Scartelli submitted invoices for the additional work, by mutual agreement of both parties. 'The nature and kind of work that was finished by Scartelli Construction includes, but is not limited to, furnishing and installing silt socks, supply and installation of subbase, storm water pipe repairs, saw cutting . . and removal of old paving and subbase,' the suit states. Owner Don Scartelli is requesting the court grant his company 'an amount in excess of $104,783, plus interest, attorneys' fees, costs and other relief as the court deems equitable and just.' MSP Properties, however, tells a different story about the terms of the original proposal and of additional work performed. MSP denies Scartelli made additional requests by phone, text or emails. It also denies Scartelli was granted 'carte blanche' when it came to additional labor and material costs. In their legal response to Scartelli's lawsuit, MSP alleges Scartelli Construction completed work without MSP's approval or involvement and that Scartelli 'unilaterally performed and invoiced the defendant for services and at a grossly inflated rate.' MSP also takes issue with Scartelli's assertion that work was performed on an emergency basis, on the weekend or in challenging winter weather conditions. On the contrary, Scartelli wasn't authorized to perform work outside the scope of the original proposal unless both parties agreed to the work and its cost before invoices were issued, MSP alleged their official response. MSP alleges Scartelli committed fraud by billing outside the scope of the original agreement at a 'grossly inflated rates.' MSP claims it 'is justified in non payment of the fraudulent invoices.'

Brian Baumgartner holds the key to enjoying celebrity golf: 'I know I'm not going to win'

Brian Baumgartner holds the key to enjoying celebrity golf: 'I know I'm not going to win' Part of the appeal of the celebrity golf tournament every summer is watching professional athletes and performers get humbled on the golf course. Brian Baumgartner epitomizes that. Baumgartner, who starred in the TV show 'The Office' for nine seasons, was at Edgewood Tahoe on Tuesday to help promote the 36th American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, set for July 11-13. Baumgarter has played the event 18 times, with his best finish being 30th place in 2020, the year no spectators were allowed due to the pandemic. Baumgartner proudly brought up that 30th place finish several times Tuesday while enduring numerous media interviews over several hours. 'For myself, there is the idea of an ordinary guy, an 'every-man' guy who maybe a few times a round hits a really great shot that makes people feel like they're a part of this too,' Baumgartner said. 'Not that I'm putting myself as the representative for everybody watching. 'But I do think that's part of what makes this special. You see people who have struggled publicly with golf, like Charles (Barkley) or Larry the Cable Guy or Ray (Romano) or whoever else. I think that's part of what makes the event so spectacular.' Defending champion Mardy Fish and 2021 ACC champion Vinny del Negro were also on hand via video, and they were quick to ramp up the banter and playful teasing with Baumgartner that usually occurs on the course. 'I don't know why they don't pair me with Mardy and Vinny in the first round every year. I think that's a mistake,' Baumgartner said, smiling. 'But at least being out here together is part of what makes it so special.' Advice for newcomers San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is joining the field for the first time this summer. Baumgartner said the main tip he would offer Kittle and all the newcomers is to realize bad shots are going to happen. 'The key to that is to let it go,' Baumgartner said. 'In golf it's very different from these other sports that a lot of them play or are known for.' He said to just have fun and enjoy the tournament is his other bit of advice. 'On my first tee shot, I know I'm not going to win, so I'm really just trying to beat certain guys, play better than I did the year before, and compete and have a good time,' Baumgartner said. The tournament Spectators along the fairways each year like to call out 'Kevin,' his character's name in 'The Office.' Baumgartner told a story about how fans were yelling 'Kevin' at him one time at Edgewood and he decided to play along when he turned around and saw who the fans were really yelling at — Kevin Nealon, walking several yards behind him. Playing in front of the sometimes raucous galleries at Egewood, especially on holes No. 17 and No. 18, can actually help his golf game, Baumgartner said. 'On those holes where there's a lot of people, I focus in so strongly,' he said. 'And then you get out to the middle of the course, No. 3 and 4, par-5s, where there's maybe not so many people around and I kind of relax a little bit, and then things go to hell in a handbasket.' His nerves kick in before his first tee shot each day of the tournament, mainly due to anticipation and excitement. 'If I hit a good one there, I'm pretty happy,' he said. 'The environment is so special. It truly feels like it gets bigger every year.' Brian Baumgartner talks about the upcoming show 'The Paper,' Tuesday Brian Baumgartner talks about the upcoming TV show 'The Paper,' Tuesday at Edgewood Tahoe during media day for the ACC celebrity golf tournament. 'The Office' spin-off Baumgartner is excited about a new TV show debuting this fall, 'The Paper,' billed as a follow-up to 'The Office,' with some of the same producers. 'The Paper' is a mockumentary sitcom about a newspaper in Toledo, Ohio. 'It's Greg Daniels and a lot of the creative team who were involved in our show. I can't wait to watch it,' Baumgartner said. 'His showrunner, Michael Koman, is married to Elly Kemper, who was on 'The Office.' They are super smart, incredibly funny people. I'm, sure it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to watch it.' The ACC Daily grounds tickets and week-long grounds badges for the tournament are available online at Tickets for Wednesday's and Thursday's Celebrity-Amateur play are $40 each day, with tournament rounds Friday, Saturday and Sunday at $50 daily. A grounds badge for all five days — Wednesday through Sunday — is $150. The number of daily tickets is limited, with Friday/Saturday sellouts typical. All ticket purchases must be made online in advance — same-day tickets will not be available at the gate. For active-duty and retired veterans, a limited supply of complimentary tickets — good for one person plus a guest on either Wednesday or Thursday — will also be available beginning April 1, two tickets maximum. The three-day, 54-hole event includes a $750,000 purse, with $150,000 going to the winner, plus a charity component benefiting local and national nonprofits.

Suits LA Paired The Office's Brian Baumgartner And Patton Oswalt, And The Actors Told Us What It Was Like To ‘Tear It Up' Together On The NBC Show

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Warning: SPOILERS for the Suits LA episode 'He Knew' are ahead! One of the main ways Suits LA distinguishes itself from its predecessor, location aside, is by following attorneys who represent powerful clients in the entertainment industry. So naturally this provides countless opportunities for actors to appear as themselves on the NBC series that can also be streamed with a Peacock subscription. The late John Amos made his final onscreen appearance in the Suits LA pilot, and tonight's episode saw The Office's Brian Baumgartner and The Goldbergs' Patton Oswalt paired together. Both actors shared with CinemaBlend what it was like to 'tear it up' with each other, making for an experience that was the complete opposite of what their fictional selves experienced. I had the pleasure of speaking with Baumgartner and Oswalt separately ahead of 'Hew Knew' airing on the 2025 TV schedule. The two were introduced to each other in the Suits LA world thanks to Lex Scott Davis' Erica Rollins, but in real life, they'd already crossed paths on a few occasions. As Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone on The Office (one of the best sitcoms of all time) told me: We had met, but peripherally, we had certainly not spent 12 hours consecutively together, or whatever it was, that day. I've always been a big fan of his. What's funny is I told him, we were just talking… it was like 3 weeks before, there's a stand-up comedian who's a friend of mine who was down here where I live, and Patton was headlining it. This is before any of this came up. I was like seconds away, something happened at the last minute from going to the show, which would have then just added a whole other layer. I'm a big fan of his. I think he's great. We had a great time working together. You talk about just the back and forth that we were able to have that happened very, very quickly. He's one of the good ones, for sure. More Suits LA Stories Suits LA's Premiere Delivered A Big Twist For Lex Scott Davis' Character, But The Actress Told Us Why She Was 'Not Surprised' By This Move The NSFW Comment Stephen Amell's Daughter Humorously Keeps Saying After Helping Him With His Suits LA Lines This meeting in Suits LA came as a result of Brian Baumgartner wanting to 'kill' Kevin Malone, by which he meant he wanted to leave his comedic performing behind and try to become an Oscar-winning dramatic actor. Baumgartner requested that Erica arrange for him to meet Tom Hanks to he could pick the Forrest Gump actor's brain, but there was no way that was going to happen for a multitude of reasons. So instead, Alice Lee's Leah Power arranged for Patton Oswalt to stop by instead, as he's a comedic actor who has experience in the dramatic realm. Unfortunately, the conversation Baumgartner and Oswalt devolved once the latter told the former he didn't have what it took to bring home an Academy Award. Several brutal jabs later (Oswalt said that Toby was funnier than Kevin on The Office, Baumgartner mocked Oswalt for voicing Remy in Ratatouille), and Baumgartner left angrily, upset at Erica for not delivering on what he asked for. But, like the real life Office alum told me, he had nothing but a blast working with The King of Queens actor, who echoed that same sentiment to me later on. As Oswalt put it: He was as fun as you think he would be. I was absolutely delighted. It was really fun to tear it up in a scene with him and play these amplified mutated versions of ourselves. I'm speaking for myself, but I think we both had a blast. The good news is that we don't have to worry about Brian Baumgartner and Patton Oswalt becoming mortal enemies in the Suits LA world. It turned out that Erica Rollins asked Oswalt prior to the meeting to deliberately rile Baumgartner up to test his determination to win an Oscar, as she knew what it was like to be underestimated. With the Kevin Malone actor still unwilling to back down from this goal, Erica was pleased her plan worked and threw her support behind Baumgartner. However, Baumgartner asked that she still be ready to book comedic roles in case the dramatic acting doesn't work out. Suits LA airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on NBC. Next week's episode, 'Batman Returns,' will see Suits' Gabriel Macht returning as Harvey Specter for the first of three episodes he has lined up, and it was also announced a few days ago that Rick Hoffman will reprise Louis Litt later this season. Meanwhile, I'll be over here rooting for you, Fictional Brian, and hopefully you and Fictional Patton can have a less heated conversation the next time you run into each other.

Actor Brian Baumgartner's Best Day Ever in Atlanta

When Brian Baumgartner is in town, you can find him golfing, cheering on the Atlanta Braves or enjoying a medium-rare stake at Marcel. We asked the Atlanta native and Westminster Schools graduate — whom you might know as Kevin from "The Office" — to describe his ideal day in the city: 🏌️ How he starts the day: Baumgartner enjoys his morning on the green, playing a round of golf at East Lake, with Tom Glavine, John Smoltz or Greg Maddux. Zoom in: Baumgartner started golfing after college and uses the game as meditation. "When I go out (to play golf), I can spend four hours and work goes away, any issues go away, family stuff goes away and it's just concentrating on getting this little tiny ball into this little tiny hole for four hours, and for me it's a release where I don't have to worry about anything else." He played in last week's Hilton Grand Vacation's Tournament of Champions in Florida — the LPGA Tour's first stop of 2025. ⚾ Afternoon activity: The avid sports fan then heads to Truist Park. "Maybe there's an early afternoon Braves game which doesn't (usually) happen. Love the new stadium there." 🍴 Evening outing: For dinner, he goes to Marcel. "And if things get weird, Hotel Clermont and Tiny Lou's. But Marcel is my go-to and I'm getting a steak. It's the best in town." Yes, but: He's not using any steak sauce. "No sauce. High-quality meat, salt and pepper, no sauce." Worthy of your time: If he could pick one celebrity to play a round of golf with, it would be former President Obama. Fun fact: "Stress Relief" (Season 5 Episode 14 and 15), "Diversity Day" (Season 1, Episode 2) and "The Injury" (Season 2, Episode 12) are his current favorite episodes of "The Office." What's next: Baumgartner will have a guest role in "Suits LA" streaming later this month on NBC and Peacock.
