The Metro Phase 2 will create hassle-free commuting by reducing congestion on the roads and also contribute a lot to sustainable development once the project is completed, he added. The chief minister also informed the Union minister that the state government is ready to undertake the Rs 24,269 crore project as a joint venture with the Centre. He reminded Khattar that the project DPR has already been submitted with necessary amendments as per the suggestions of the Union urban development minister and requested him to grant necessary permissions from other departments considering the importance of the project. Minister Nara Lokesh discusses AI in education, invites Tony Blair to join AP governance institute advisory board
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh met former British Prime Minister and founder of Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) Tony Blair in New Delhi on Thursday, and discussed issues related to usage of AI tools in the education system and the Andhra Pradesh government. During the meeting held with Lokesh in Mumbai in July last year, Tony Blair promised to extend cooperation for usage of AI tools in the education, and in the activities of the AP State government through his TBI. Later in December, 2024, the AP Education Department signed an MoU with TBI to improve the job opportunities for youth of the State by implementing modern technology in the education sector. As part of the agreement, TBI deployed its tech team, in Vijayawada with focus on reforms in higher education in AP, and the establishment of Global Institute for Good Governance. Lokesh and Blair, during their meeting in New Delhi discussed the progress of the project after the agreement. They also discussed at length the skill development agenda being implemented in the State, skill census, employment opportunities to youth from AP abroad, and the technological support by TBI. On the occasion, Lokesh invited Blair to join the advisory board of the Global Institute for Good Governance. Blair said TBI will partner with the AP government for the conclave of the education Ministers to be held in Visakhapatnam in August.

New Delhi / Hyderabad: A Letter of Intent was exchanged between the Telangana government and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBIGC) for partnering in Telangana Rising vision development and its subsequent implementation. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy interacted with former Prime Minister of UK Tony Blair during his visit to Delhi on Thursday. After stepping down from an active public career, Blair has started the TBIGC with the objective of assisting world leaders develop a vision, design strategies and convert them into actionable programmes. During their hour-long interaction, The CM provided details of the key elements of 'Telangana Rising 2047' which will be unveiled publicly on the 2nd anniversary of the State government on December 9, 2025. Revanth Reddy highlighted the priority that will be given to social and economic development of various cross-sections like farmers, youth and women, and the overall improvement of human development indicators. He also highlighted the new concept of micro planning using the lens of core urban, peri-urban and rural zones. Blair appreciated that the entire agenda of development will be achieved through sustainability principles. He took particular interest in flagship initiatives like Bharat Future City, Young India Skills University and Young India Sports University. Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies, Uttam Kumar Reddy, MPs Raghuveer Reddy and Mallu Ravi, Advisor to the Government Jitender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Secretary (Coordination), Gaurav Uppal were present.

Delhi: Tony Blair meets Rekha Gupta to discuss governance, urban reforms
Chief minister Rekha Gupta met former British prime minister Tony Blair on Thursday at the Delhi Secretariat where the two discussed governance, urban development and education reforms, the chief minister's office (CMO) said in a statement. The two also discussed India-UK relations and global democratic challenges, officials added. Blair is the founder of the think tank Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI). 'The chief minister held discussions with Blair on the ongoing transformational efforts in digital governance, education, healthcare, and environmental reforms in Delhi. The chief minister shared how the Delhi government is working under the vision of a 'Viksit Dilli' to modernise education, healthcare, women empowerment, and urban infrastructure with a citizen-centric approach,' the CMO said. Gupta described the meeting as a positive experience for her government. 'The meeting was a golden opportunity for Delhi, and TBI and the Delhi government will explore ways to transform Delhi into a model city. We held discussions on administrative reforms, the use of technology, and collaborative efforts for citizen welfare,' she added. Environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also met Blair, and said that Gupta and Blair discussed various services being delivered through NGOs by Blair. 'The CM shared a booklet highlighting the government's achievements in just 100 days. Blair was surprised by the scale and speed of progress over the 100 days, remarking that other governments should take inspiration from how Indian state governments are performing,' he added. 'Blair also shared his experiences in governance during his tenure as British PM, the changes he brought and how five-six projects were highlighted. Blair expressed interest in Delhi's rapid roll out of health services and said he looks forward to seeing them on his next visit,' Sirsa said.

In his interaction with Blair, during his visit to Delhi, Reddy spoke of the key highlights of Telangana Rising, including the rapid growth from USD 200 billion State GDP to a USD 1 trillion by 2035, and a further three-fold peaking to USD 3 trillion by 2047, as per the statement. This would be achieved through a plethora of unique strategic and tactical policy interventions, including Zoning the state (inside ORR - core urban area, services only, Between ORR and Regional Ring Road area for China +1 manufacturing zone), rapid massive infra projects including the Regional Ring Road and Regional Ring Railway, radial roads between RRR and ORR, a dry port, dedicated connectivity between dry port to a sea port in AP, metro rail expansion in Hyderabad, new airports in Warangal and Adilabad, River Musi Rejuvenation, Bharat Future City (India's most future-ready and planned cities), among others, an official statement said.
