According to a report by Hindustan Times, Salman Khan became the highest-paid Indian TV personality in 2024 by charging Rs 60 crore per month for Bigg Boss 18. 'He earned approximately Rs 250 crore for the 15-week season," the source revealed. And with Bigg Boss 19 and Bigg Boss OTT 4 expected soon, there's talk that 'Salman may hike his fee even further in 2025." But he's not the only one earning big on the small screen. Kapil Sharma also made headlines by reportedly earning Rs 60 crore for Season 1 of The Great Indian Kapil Show. Meanwhile, veteran icon Amitabh Bachchan took home between Rs 4 crore and Rs 5 crore per episode for the last season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. On the female front, Anupamaa lead Rupali Ganguly leads the charts, reportedly drawing Rs 3 lakh per episode—making her the highest-paid actress on Indian television. Social media influencer-turned-TV-star Jannat Zubair is not far behind either. She is said to have earned around Rs 18 lakh per episode for Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Rs 2 lakh per episode for her stint on Laughter Challenge.

Initial reports hinted at conflicts between the production house and the channel, leading to speculation that the show might be cancelled or shifted to another network. However, the latest updates reveal that Bigg Boss will return soon, featuring some format changes. While many popular names are rumoured to join, reports specifically suggest that Splitsvilla fame Harsh Arora is likely to participate this year. As per a Tellychakkar report, the OTT format for Bigg Boss was initially phased out entirely this year. But now, the showrunners are planning a big twist with Bigg Boss OTT 4's return in August, this time with none other than Salman Khan as host. If this goes through, Bigg Boss OTT 4 would be followed by Bigg Boss Season 19, which is expected to air in October. Confirming the same, a source told Indian Express, 'What is sure is that the show will happen with the Viacom group, mostly on Jio Hotstar, however, clarity on the same is yet to come. As of now, it's not decided if the OTT version will air first or the TV version; it might just happen in the same old way it has been running all this while." Moreover, it was reported that the upcoming season of Bigg Boss would feature only TV and film stars. There will be no social media influencers or YouTubers. Latest reports suggest that Harsh Arora, a former contestant on MTV Splitsvilla, has been approached for Bigg Boss. He was a popular contestant from his previous show, and his strategies were crucial to his success. Salman Khan is set to start filming the next season's promo around the end of June. The cast is yet to be confirmed. Earlier, the Bigg Boss 18 trophy was lifted by Karanveer Mehra. The actor had to compete against Vivian Dsena and Rajat Dalal for the award. While Vivian was the first runner-up, Rajat finished second, followed by Avinash Mishra and Chum Darang. Sana Makbul had won Bigg Boss OTT 3.

An X page, claiming about being privy to latest updates of the popular reality series, shared a new piece of information about the upcoming season of Bigg Boss OTT. According to the post, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan would host the new season of the show's OTT version on JioHotstar. The upcoming fourth chapter will arrive on the streamer in the first week of August, as per the X post. Official confirmation, however, is awaited. "CONFIRMED! There have been a lot of discussions around Colors TV's popular reality show Bigg Boss returning with a new season both on OTT and television. From speculation that it may be nixed due to falling TRPs to a shorter season — Salman Khan-hosted show has constantly been in the news. However, SCREEN has exclusively learned that Bigg Boss is definitely returning. According to our source, Bigg Boss' new season will appear either in the last week of July or early August. Also, meetings are still on internally to decide whether one long season will run, or the team will retain the same old format of OTT, followed by the TV version. The source tells us, 'What is sure is that the show will happen with the Viacom group, mostly on Jio Hotstar, however, clarity on the same is yet to come.'
