Leslie Bibb shares secrets to unmarried life with Sam Rockwell

The 51-year-old Popular star has been in a relationship with 56-year-old Rockwell since 2007, but they have shunned married life so far. Opening up on TODAY, Bibb insisted that she loves her partner, but revealed they have no plans to walk down the aisle. "Listen, I love Sam Rockwell. I would put him in my pocket and carry him with me all the time. I love him. I do not want to get married... I feel like we are married."

Jenna Bush Hager reveals topless sunbathing once left her chest green — dermatologist reveals why

Here's another reason to slather on some SPF this summer — especially if you're planning to bare it all. Jenna Bush Hager revealed this week that a trip to a topless beach in Spain during high school left her so scorched, her chest turned green. 'If you get burned, it's not pretty,' the 43-year-old 'Today With Jenna & Friends' co-host told actress Leslie Bibb on Tuesday's episode. 5 Actress Leslie Bibb appeared on the June 16 episode of 'Today With Jenna & Friends.' NBC When Bibb, 51, asked if her chest peeled, Bush Hager nodded — but then took things in a bizarre turn. 'They may have turned green,' the TV personality said. 'The opposite of the color wheel!' 'They turned green? Are you for real life?' the White Lotus star gasped. 'Oh, I don't think that's good,' Bibb added — and she's probably right. Sunburns happen when you're exposed to too much ultraviolet (UV) light, which can penetrate into deep layers of the skin and cause cellular damage, according to the Mayo Clinic. The body responds by increasing blood flow to the area, leading to inflamed skin we know as a burn. 'Signs that your burns are significant include painful redness, peeling and blisters,' Dr. Lauren Taglia, a dermatologist, told Northwestern Medicine. In Bush Hager's case, her Elphaba-esque chest may have signaled something more serious going on beneath the surface. 5 Bush Hager's chest 'turned green' after a bad sunburn. NBC 5 'Green!' Bibb exclaimed. 'That… makes me sick.' TODAY with Jenna & Friends / TikTok 'When the skin barrier is significantly damaged from a bad sunburn, it's possible to develop a secondary bacterial infection,' Dr. Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, medical director of Mudgil Dermatology, told The Post. Mudgil hasn't treated Bush Hager personally, but he speculated that her symptoms could be caused by impetigo, a common and contagious bacterial skin infection. 'This can lead to the formation of yellowish-green crusts, which would explain the green color she described,' Mudgil explained. 'Impetigo can be painful and requires antibiotics for treatment, either topical or systemic, depending on how widespread the infection is,' he noted. Gross? Bush Hager agrees. 5 All skin types can burn, though those with a lighter complexion are more at risk. Evgen – The former first daughter said the experience was enough to scare her away from sunbathing for good. 'I try not, but this is years of sun damage,' she admitted, rubbing her arms and adding that she now gets regular skin checks. She also offered some sage advice for viewers: wear sunscreen, especially when you're young. 'SPF babies, SPF! Get hip with it!' Bibb chimed in. Dermatologists agree. For daily use, most experts recommend using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If you're spending extended time outdoors, SPF 60 or higher is smart, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. For full-body coverage, aim for about one ounce of sunscreen — roughly a shot glass. And don't forget to reapply every two hours, or more if you're swimming or sweating. Even if you're inside, you're not off the hook. 5 Hager Bush, a mom-of-three, wishes her younger self hadn't tanned so much. Instagram/jennabhager 'Most ultraviolet (UV) rays can penetrate glass, so if you're working or relaxing near a window, you're receiving sun exposure,' Dr. Elisabeth G. Richard, a dermatologist, told the Skin Cancer Foundation. The bright side: you won't have to reapply as frequently as you would outdoors, likely every four to six hours. 'Sun damage is cumulative,' Richard noted. 'So even if you're only exposed for a short time, it's important to have protection.' Experts also recommend doubling up with wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses and protective clothing for extra coverage. When the sun's at its peak — between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. — your best bet is to head for the shade. And if a green chest isn't warning enough, don't forget: Every sunburn — even a mild one — increases your risk of skin cancer, including melanoma, the deadliest form of all. In fact, just one blistering burn in childhood or adolescence more than doubles your risk of melanoma later in life, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2025, 104,960 new melanoma cases will be diagnosed in the US — and 8,430 Americans will die from it.

Jenna Bush Hager Gets Dramatic New Haircut Live On TV

Jenna Bush Hager made the cut — and viewers were not ready. Joined by The White Lotus star Leslie Bibb, the host of Today — as well many viewers of the HBO Max program — found themselves so taken by Bibb's now-viral blunt bob that she decided to take the plunge herself. The live Monday morning broadcast quickly turned into an impromptu hair appointment, with celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan on hand to make the transformation official. 'When I was here back in March, Jenna vowed to get on board with the bob, and today is the day!' Bibb exclaimed with sheer enthusiasm. As the trio chatted, they reflected on how Bibb's hairstyle had unexpectedly gone 'completely viral' — a reaction McMillan admitted he 'didn't expect.' 'It was a grow-out of a short haircut,' he said. 'It wasn't like, the intention wasn't to give her a bob, it was to grow it out into a bob.' Fabio Lovino/HBO Afterwards, he revealed that he was giving the host a 'modern version' of the hairstyle — which, in his opinion, is a 'little blunter.' Before the scissors could snip, Bush Hager pointed to the audience outside of the studio and said, 'Oh my gosh, they're telling me not to do it!' Bibb assured her that hair indeed does grow back, and that the host was getting rid of any unnecessary 'baggage' with her big chop. 'Bobs are like spring cleaning,' McMillan added. 'There are sometimes some bad damage, bad layers, and it sort of evens it up and creates a nice, strong perimeter.' With that, McMillan got to work, carefully finding the right length before committing to the first chop. 'Do I have enough hair to donate?' Bush Hager asked. 'No,' Bibb jokingly responded. Bush Hager shared that not everyone was thrilled with the prospect of her on-air makeover. 'I will say my daughter was like, 'Mom, don't do it! You're gonna regret it!'' she said. The video Bush Hager showed on Tuesday of her kids reacting to the cut makes it look like her daughter still wasn't convinced.

Jenna Bush Hager's 3 Kids Hilariously React to Her New Haircut After She Gets a 'White Lotus'-Inspired Bob on Live TV

Jenna Bush Hager's kids had a negative reaction to seeing their mom's new haircut The mom of three decided to cut her hair into a 'White Lotus'-inspired bob after guest co-hosting her show with Leslie Bibb Bush Hager shares her kids with husband Henry HagerJenna Bush Hager's new haircut may take some time for her kids to get used to. On Tuesday, June 17, the mom of three, 43, debuted her new haircut after cutting her long locks into a White Lotus-inspired bob while live on air during a Monday, June 16 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends. During Tuesday's show, Bush Hager told co-host Leslie Bibb that her kids had an adverse reaction to her new style after she came home from yesterday's taping. 'I will say, I walked in to show my children and you just…I videoed it,' Bush Hager shared before playing a video of her three kids' reactions. 'I think they thought they were getting a puppy.' 'What is it?' All three of Bush Hager's kids could be heard saying as they walked into the room before they began to scream. 'What are you doing?' Bush Hager's daughter, Poppy, 9, shrieked. 'I don't like it,' daughter Mila, 12, told her mom. 'I don't like it!' son Hal, 5, affirmed. 'Why would you do that?' asked Poppy before running away and throwing herself onto a chair. "Are those real?" Bibb asked of her kids' reactions. "Your children are monsters. They're monsters! They started crying." "I know! It was sort of fake crying, I mean that's our love language," joked Bush Hager. Bush Hager shares her three kids with husband Henry Hager. The mom of three decided to cut her hair short after her guest co-host Bibb and celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan stopped by to discuss Bush Hager's hair. During the episode, McMillan stepped up to cut her hair live on TV, although they saved the reveal for the next day. "When I was here back in March, Jenna vowed to get on board with the bob, and today is the day," Bibb told the audience. In the episode, Bush Hager spoke about McMillan's background in celebrity hair — and the group discussed how Bibb's White Lotus haircut was so influential that it inspired viewers of the show to chop their own hair. "I didn't expect it [to go viral] because it was just a grow out of a short haircut," McMillan told Bush Hager on Monday. "The intention wasn't to give her a bob, it was to grow her out into a bob." Although her kids didn't have a great reaction to seeing her hair, Bush Hager's husband had a much more positive look. "The best thing is my husband [Henry Hager] did like it. He was like, 'D--- that's hot.' Which was sweet," Bush Hager said, adding that he defended her when one of her girls said that she didn't like the new cut. Bibb proclaimed that Hager said the "best thing" in response to her daughter: "He was like, 'She don't know fashion.' " Read the original article on People

Leslie Bibb breaks down her aha moments filming ‘The White Lotus': ‘Kate suddenly got jealous'

Leslie Bibb played peacekeeper Kate on The White Lotus. This awards season, the actress is choosing sides, at least when it comes to her partner, Sam Rockwell. "If Sam doesn't get an Emmy nomination, I'm gonna f--king punch somebody in the face. But if he doesn't win, I'm gonna f--king punch somebody in the face,' she tells Gold Derby. When we mention her effusiveness a few days later to Rockwell, who credits Bibb with convincing him to join her in Season 3 after Mike White offered him the role of Frank, he smiles, clearly not surprised. "That's true love. That's a really great woman right there," he says. "I feel the same way about her." Fans of the HBO series know that Kate would kill for that kind of affirmation. The pseudo Real Housewife of Austin feels easily dismissed by famous Hollywood actress Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and New York lawyer Laurie (Carrie Coon), the childhood friends with whom she's vacationing in Thailand, and even fellow member of the country club set Victoria (Parker Posey), who can't be bothered to remember they both attended mutual acquaintance Claire Popovich's baby shower. It's oddly fitting then that a filmed Kate dream sequence ended up on the cutting room floor. More from GoldDerby 'Agatha All Along' star Ali Ahn: Getting Patti LuPone's approval while singing was 'like I had died and gone to heaven' How big will 'How to Train Your Dragon' be? Opening weekend for live-action remake could hit $80M 'Sirens' creator Molly Smith Metzler on watching Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock bring her characters to life: 'it was really pinch me' She's waking up from the dream in Episode 3, when she rises from bed and walks out onto her patio to spy Jaclyn and Laurie gossiping about her. "It was just a delicious dream sequence about Ping-Pong balls and, I think, about Kate's version of control and her necessity to be seen," Bibb says, teasing that it was set at a dinner, everyone was frozen, and Jaclyn and Laurie were dressed like Kate. "It felt very Shining-esque, so it was kind of horrific in a way, but then also titillating. We were all wearing the same dress because we would make this comment that everyone used to get us confused, and then it was like they were dressed like me for once. … And then people came over with Ping-Pong balls, and it was a Ping-Pong show and her fear. And then Valentin [played by Arnas Fedaravičius] was there doing the test that I was so scared of. So it was like all of her anxiety about the trip was coming out." As much as Kate wants her friends' attention, she doesn't want them looking at her too closely, Bibb notes. "Because she's so scared that what if it's not perfect, will they still love me? Will people still think I'm cool?" she says. "Kate doesn't feel as smart as them, and doesn't feel as worldly as them, and has a deep insecurity. And I think it's why the friendships are important for her. And [Coon and Monaghan] agreed: We're on a vacation because Kate made this happen. I think she probably wanted to go to Aspen, but Jaclyn said, 'Hey, let's go to Thailand.' So she was like, 'OK, yeah. Great idea.' And then she was Googling, 'Can I drink the water?' She's the worst," she continues with a laugh. "She's a great friend, and then she's got zero curiosity. It's this dichotomy with Kate: You love her, and then you go, 'Oh, Kate.'" Here, Bibb takes us deeper inside Kate's mind (and wardrobe), the filming of the Toxic Trio's now famous dinner scenes, and how Rockwell inspired her. SEE Michelle Monaghan reveals the sweetest unscripted moment in The White Lotus Season 3 (and the ladies' water aerobics instructor) Gold Derby: I've talked with a lot of your castmates this awards season, and one of the most fun tidbits I've heard was , who said that you are the best water aerobics instructor. Leslie Bibb: I do water aerobics. Everybody makes fun of me, but it's not your grandma's water aerobics. It's very, very hard. You work your butt off. I'm also a water sign, so I feel very comfortable in the water. I was living with Carrie, and Michelle was living with Parker, and it's so hot. And then you have this luxurious villa you're living in, and a pool, and we have to be in bathing suits all the time. I was like, "Guys, I'm gonna get in the pool and do water aerobics." And they're like, "No." I'm like, "Come in." Then we started doing it, and they were like, "Oh, my God! This is so fun!" By the way, I went to the market and I bought pool noodles, and I have gloves, and I have all my accoutrement. The props department on White Lotus is next level. They're so good. They had all these water aerobics bands. So when I was going to peruse props — because you go in and they're like, "What do you want to keep in your section [for filming]?" — I was like, "I'm not gonna keep these in my section, but I'm stealing this for my personal use." So I stole them for class. One morning I was doing it by myself, and we were at a new hotel, and I came out of my room and I had my pool noodle and my bag and my hands were full, and I'm in flip-flops, my rash guard, and a hat the size of Texas, and there is a monitor lizard. It might as well be a crocodile in front of my room. He stopped and I stopped. I didn't know what to do. He just looked at me, and I looked at him. I had all these pool noodles. I start high-kicking, like if I do this he's not going to eat my ankles or something, I don't know. I start screaming. I don't even know what I'm saying. And then he jiggle-jaggles it underneath my villa, and I was like, "Oh, my God, this is like The White Lotus." This is exactly what happened to Natasha [Rothwell]'s character. I'm surprised Mike White didn't add in a water aerobics scene for the trio. As we went farther along [in filming], less and less people would be down for early morning water aerobics, but I do it religiously. One morning I was in the pool by myself, and Mike and his trainer got in the pool. He was looking at me, and he was like, "You look very glamorous in that hat." The wheels are turning. He was like, "What are you doing?" I was like, "Water aerobics. Leave me alone. Go away." Season 4, we'll just see you back in the background in a pool. Teaching Claire Popovich water aerobics. What kind of initial conversations did you and Mike have about Kate? He said two things. One was a little daunting. He said, "You know, her arc is slight, but if we do our job right, it will be very impactful." So it's daunting because you want something that's obvious. "But if we do it right…" And I think we did, because Mike texted me when he was in editing, and he was like, "We did it right. We did it right." I became very protective of my Kate because I saw the complexity of her, which could be minimized. I saw her vulnerability, and I saw her insecurity, which I thought was really important to come through for her, because I felt like she gets dismissed a lot. And she gets dismissed within the women a lot. Instead of friends, it felt like sisters to me. I find that dynamic very interesting. It felt like she would have been the baby looking up to them, you know, like really trying to always impress them and mirror them — because mirrors are an important imagery in this season. So when she's with one, she sort of morphs with that one. …. So I knew the job at hand was going to be challenging. And then Mike said to me in our meeting, "I want you to do an Enneagram test." And I said, "Right now?" He's like, "Yeah. Because Kate's a perfectionist, and I know you're a perfectionist." I'm like, "I'm not a perfectionist." He's like, "Oh, yeah, you're going to be like an 8.43, or something like that." I was like, "No I'm not. No I'm not." And then cut to we're doing our Zoom, and I'm on the side doing the test, and he's like, "What are you?" And I was like, "Ugh, I'm a f--king 8.43." He said, "I think that's the key to Kate." Her perfectionism was the diving board I started to bounce on every time before I dove into a scene. We're really tying this back to swimming pool references. But it really was the thing for her, her need to keep things perfect, her need for control. I always find that we do that because we're scared people won't accept us for who we are. And I knew with Kate that it was going to be easy to put her into a box. "Oh, you're that girl." And I think it did happen, because people came up to me all the time, and they were like, "Why am I rooting for her? She makes me crazy, but I'm also rooting for her and I like her." And I was like, "OK, we did it, we did it, we did it." … Kate seems like you could put her in that box, and I was like, "No, she's a Mike White character. She's got lots of edges. You just have to see those edges, and if we do our job, we start coloring outside the lines of it." One of the things I loved about your performance was that we could see Kate thinking through what she's saying, processing her thoughts about people. She's in real time absorbing what's happening. But I'm really proud that you're seeing her process, and the complexity, which is human and what we're all doing. She's taking it in and thinking, "If I respond this way, what's gonna happen?" I love that about her because I think that's what a lot of us do in life, and thank God for Mike and his editing that he likes to show that. Everyone's like, "The way you listen to them is so dynamic." That's such a nice compliment because that's what acting is. It's listening and responding honestly in the moment. Sometimes it's really hard to be in the moment and listen and answer honestly when there's a camera on you. It just is. SEE Jason Isaacs relives filming The White Lotus piña colada scene: 'It was one of the reasons I was worried about taking the job' There's that moment in the final dinner scene, when Carrie starts her incredible monologue by admitting Laurie's been sad, and you're like, "What?" and hit your chest. We can feel that reaction. You know, that scene is a really important scene. Carrie's amazing in the scene. The words Mike wrote are amazing. But I'm gonna really toot us as the three of us in that. … For me, I do emotional preps, even if it's a comedy, even if it's a small scene I'm doing my homework. My script looks like a serial killer's notes. Carrie's are cleaner than mine, but we all carry our scripts like Bibles held to our hearts. … I remember not doing a big emotional prep for that day. I just remember feeling like we're locked in, the three of us. Every take, whether it's for Michelle's or for Carrie's or for mine, we were all alive. Our wells were not drying up. Usually, after a certain point, your nervous system just goes, "I can't." Your nervous system starts to raise a white flag like it's too much, it's too much. It was like six hours we shot that scene, and we all were very connected. I think that scene is very impactful and as moving as it is because of the work all three of us did, and the attention to detail and the attention to one another we had. At the end, every time I couldn't stop myself, I improvised this "I love you." Which then set off Carrie saying, "I love you," which then set off Michelle saying, "I love you." That was not in the script. But I'm so glad they kept it because it felt like the scene needed it, and also, I think it was like the release of the three of us together, because we are such a triangle, and one of us doesn't exist without the other. I mean, it is part of the storyline: Who are we without the other two? And what happens when one breaks off? And there's no way a friend wouldn't have said "I love you" after watching someone share that amount of emotion. You have to. But it just kept coming out. I'm sure Mike was getting annoyed [Laughs], it's not in the script. It just was happening organically. … For the three of us, the work is so beautiful, and we should all be very proud of it. People wonder why that storyline resonated so much with fans. Being in my 40s, I'm at the point where some friends are on a victory tour, as Kate says, and others are having a midlife crisis. When you have a group of friends at this age, you'll be at different stages, and it's about getting to the point where you can be happy for someone's success without it reminding you of your regrets. That scene felt like therapy. I think there's this thing that women are told, that they can do it all. Oh, women are great at multitasking. You can do all the things and do it well. You can raise the kids. You can be a great friend. You can be a great mom. You can be this, you can be that. And then this competition is unconsciously driven in. It's like a record player in our head. These roots are so deep, just sort of subliminally pushed in over time. Young women are like, "We see what you guys are trying to do. We're not into it," which I think is so cool, changing the narrative. But I really love witnessing women in their 30s and in their 40s going, "Oh, this is exhausting," and really leaning into vulnerability with their friends and an awareness around their friends. If Jaclyn, Laurie, and Kate had come in from the jump and been like, "My marriage isn't great. Guys, I don't know how happy I really am in Austin, and I love being a mom, but it's all I am. I don't really have anything; I just have Dave's life and I live vicariously." If everybody had just come in and risked that, and not been so presentational, what a different trip it would be. And that's what I thought was so cool about [Rockwell's monologue]. … I didn't know who was playing the part of Frank when , but I was like, "Oh, this is what the whole show is about." This monologue is Mike White and his writing at its best. Because a lot of people would read this and they would be like, "Oh, I'm just gonna compartmentalize this and say this is about sex." And really, this is what Mike is talking about: How we want to live our life, and the honesty with which we want to live our life, the vulnerability with which we want to live our life, and risking getting to know who we are, and is who I am in here different from who I am out here — that balance between spirit and form. I think Mike should win for writing, just for that monologue. HBO That's what makes the dinner scene when Jaclyn and Laurie realize Kate voted for Trump so interesting. You mentioned the mirrors, and Kate is seeing herself across the table at that moment. That was your audition scene. What did it tell you about Kate? Mike has this amazing ability to take a scene that seems almost flippant, that sort of seems surface, and it's everything that's happening underneath here; it's what you're not saying is what is being said. … So when I read it, I knew there was a cave to mine of what was really being said. And it also made me laugh because I just thought, this is the conversation everybody is having in the world, not just in America, because there's no "across the aisle" politics anymore. It's very black or white. Everything is so polarized. I didn't have the rest of the scripts when I read the audition scene, so I thought it was pretty juicy and fun. But then, when I got the rest of the scripts, I started to realize something for Kate. Actually, one discovery happened [filming]. In the script, we were all supposed to be so enamored with Valentin the butler, and we talk about it as soon as we get into the villa. I remember I'm sitting in my little chair like a bird perched watching them, and they were doing Carrie and Michelle's coverage, and they started talking about Valentin, and I remember in the scene I got hit with this thing as I'm listening to them: Kate suddenly got jealous. When we finished the scene, I thought, "Oh, something just happened. That's what it is." I made a choice: Every time Valentin came to the table, any time he showed his face, I was annoyed by him. I was not charmed by him. I didn't trust him. In my head, I was like, he's gonna ruin our vacation. And it felt like that's what happened in high school: The boys would come over and they'd be like, "Oh, we're gonna go to the bar with them." And then I'd be like, "OK," and then have to go. And then I'm holding somebody's hair while they're throwing up. You know what I mean? But really, what she wants is to be with her big sisters. She wants to be there. That about Valentin felt very informative about how important this trip was to her. So that then, as I thought about that scene when we talk about politics… and I don't know that face that happened, that people are like, "Oh, that condescending face." And it is. But really what I was rooting it in was trying to still stay the good girl and not piss them off. Smile and be the good girl, and be bright and shiny, and be all these things, but not have it ruin the vacation. Because I know that this whole trip will go south because they're not going to agree. Even talking about church, I was trying to keep it like kind of cool and fun. I feel like she went back to her room, and she's like, "I'm very proud of myself: I didn't compartmentalize. I said my truth." I think there's this battle for Kate, trying to stand up for herself but also desperate for their approval and desperate for this trip. SEE Parker Posey reveals The White Lotus fans are making sure she's living a comfortable life On a lighter note, I did want to talk about Kate's costumes. I read it was your choice to have Kate switch into pajamas when Valentin and the guys come back to the villa. It made me wonder what other suggestions you contributed. Costumes are really important to me. I'm obsessive about everything. Everything I wear is thought out. I wanted her wardrobe to feel like she bought a new wardrobe. Mike was like, "What's happening?" Something had randomly popped up on my Instagram and it was a story about how women go and buy all new wardrobes when they go on vacation and then they never wear the clothes ever again. And I was like, "That's Kate." That's exactly what she's like. When she's on vacation, she's pretending to be something she's not because she can't risk living that truth. Everything is so deep V. She doesn't wear that in Austin. The day [we were doing the pool scene with the guys], I was looking at my script and something happened and I went, "I've got to do [pajamas]." Sam, my partner, can get social anxiety. I have it, too, I just mask it a little better than he does. But we'll throw a house party, and I always say Sam pulls a French exit. [Guests] will be like, "Where's Sam?" And I'll be like, "Oh, he put himself to bed." And he'll just put himself to bed. There's something great about it, like he is very clear about his boundaries. Kate's not as clear about her boundaries, so I thought, wouldn't it be funny… a very passive, aggressive way to say "get out of my house" is to put on your pajamas. I said to Alex [Bovaird], our costume designer, "What am I wearing?" "Oh, you're just wearing the dress." I was like, "No, no, I want to wear pajamas." I went to Mike and pitched him the idea, and he was like, "Great, do it." [The ones I chose] were long sleeve, too hot, but I felt like I wanted to have a barrier between [Kate and] them. I didn't want it to feel like shorts, sexy or inviting. I wanted it to feel like get out, and yet still say party. So they have champagne and airplanes on them. So it's like, "I'm here for the party. I'm fun. I'm Fun Kate." You're constantly looking for subliminal things in scenes. And I love that people really got that about the pajamas. People walked up to me, "Oh, girl, you and your pajamas by the pool…." What else? In the political scene, I picked really great pants and a button down, but they have these eyes on them. If you look at all my wardrobe, the patterns Alex and I mapped out… she really got into it. In some other scene, there's girls roller skating on my dress. In the water gun fight, we picked this green dress with cutouts that was kind of a nightmare to wire. … But I wanted that dress to feel like I'm going out, but also she felt very exposed and vulnerable when it was like children of the corn turning on me. I don't think we, as human beings, realize how much subliminal thought we're putting into picking clothes. Sam said something [when he won the SAG Award for Fosse/Verdon]. It was really so endearing. Listen, Sam's got a lot of swagger, but he hadn't won the Emmy and he didn't think he was gonna win the SAG Award. He had on this white suit and he won, and if you see the tape when he wins, I'm so excited. I'm like beating him to death and I'm screaming. Colin Jost was at our table, and he was laughing. He was like, "You're acting like you won." I was like, "I'm so excited! He won! I love when Sam wins!" After he got up, you can see he's shocked by it. But when we got in the car to come home, he said, "God, if I thought I was gonna win, I would have never worn a white suit." And I thought that was so funny, because he said it looked flashy in a way. It stuck with me, about how we all really think about things, and the importance of, with a costume designer, thinking about that. It sort of changed the way when I go in for my fittings with my costume designers, I always, again, have my scripts that look like a serial killer's, and I have little tabs on them like a nerd. …. Alex had so much to do, but she was very patient with me and everyone when we'd come in and be like, "Wait, I need to look at this." That cutout dress reminded me of , like she wanted to be Samantha in Abu Dhabi. So it's funny when you say she doesn't want to stand out. I didn't want to go! I wanted to be doing yoga! I said, "We could just do yoga," and they were like, "No." And then I was like, "OK, OK," all with this tight smile. It's a tight smile of, like, I'm here to party but I really inside want to be at home in my bed and feel safe. I made a choice: Every meal I have, if you look at [my plate], it's so stupid. The props department were like, "Leslie, are you kidding me?'"And I was like, "No. This is the truth. Rock out with this." I only have fruit that has a rind on it, so it's watermelon or an orange, stuff that's not washed, never with a skin. Because I feel like Kate showed up with her entire CVS. If something goes wrong, you can go to Kate's room and she'll have it. And then at dinner, all I eat is boiled chicken and rice, because I think she's so scared. And I never have a drink that has ice in it — only rosé and that's it. Do you know those people who go on vacation and are so scared they don't experience it? I was like, "Oh, that's Kate." So I never had a curry. It's so slight, but I just knew that that was Kate. She's so scared, and she's all about control. The reason her curiosity gets dialed down is because she doesn't know what could happen, and if something went sideways, and let's just say diarrhea was the thing, and she missed out on something, she couldn't bear missing it. It's all from a fear response and a control response and a perfection, which was what Mike said from the jump. She's a perfectionist.
