Under the policy, government staff worked longer hours across five days, with Saturdays and Sundays current Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has now signalled a rollback of the system. Speaking to the media, Sai said the government was reviewing feedback from senior officers, many of whom believe the two-day weekend is hindering productivity and slowing down the pace of governance. "Even officials have said that two-day holidays are not helping them. They feel time is wasted and work is piling up, especially due to TL (time-limit) meetings on Tuesdays. Many employees also leave early by Friday afternoon, which slows down government functioning," the Chief Minister statement has drawn a sharp political response from the Congress party, which accused the BJP of dismantling progressive reform. "The CM's statement will create friction among employees. If he's so against the five-day week, let him write to the central government to revoke their similar policy too. Why reverse a decision that has improved work culture?" said Congress spokesperson and media cell chief Sushil Anand unions have also strongly objected to the proposal. Union leaders described the potential rollback as regressive, warning of protests if the decision is implemented without proper dialogue."Those advising the Chief Minister must be frustrated individuals. The five-day work week gave us time to rest and recharge, and improved our efficiency," one union leader government, however, maintains that essential public services are being affected by the current setup. Baghel alleges raids in Chhattisgarh followed after his call for accountability over Pahalgam terror strike

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) alleged that central investigative agencies conducted a series of raids in Chhattisgarh soon after he demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. Addressing a press conference on what he termed as the 'failures' of the Narendra Modi government over the past 11 years, Mr. Baghel claimed that central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were functioning under political pressure from the ruling party. In this context, he stated that following a press conference he had addressed last month regarding the Pahalgam incident, as many as 55 raids were carried out in Chhattisgarh on individuals allegedly associated with him. 'Whenever I have made statements, which the government has found it difficult to answer, there have definitely been raids. Today, I have made this statement and you can be assured that there will be fresh raids,' Mr. Baghel said. He further claimed that between 650 and 700 raids have taken place in Chhattisgarh so far, including one at his own residence. 'This is their way to humiliate people,' he said. As of now, neither the Union government nor the central agencies mentioned by the former Chief Minister have issued any official response to the allegations. Mr. Baghel made these remarks during the Congress party's media interaction, organised as part of its critique of the Centre's celebration of 11 years of the Modi-led government. He contended that the past 11 years have been marked by 'failures and anti-people policies,' and accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of fostering social divisions. 'Modi ji's entire political journey has been of disintegration and division,' Mr. Baghel alleged.
