Permission was given on the request of UP Board for payment of royalty, but later it was not paid. In such a situation, NCERT did not give permission to print new textbooks for the session 2024-25. After this, the Board sent a letter to the govt. After getting permission from the govt, the board secretary paid the outstanding royalty of Rs 2.99 crore. Following this, the Board completed the tender process for printing books and issued a work order. The task of printing textbooks and making them available in the market has been given to four printers.

UP Board to crack down on age fraud in High School exams
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, commonly known as UP Board, is to step up efforts to combat age fraud in High School examinations. Addressing the issue at the annual general meeting of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) held in New Delhi on June 14, UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh announced plans to introduce stronger, technology-driven safeguards to prevent the misuse of forged documents in student registrations. The problem is particularly prevalent in the sports sector, where overage athletes manipulate their birth records to compete in younger age categories. As the largest school board in the country, the UP Board has been a prime target for such fraudulent activities. Singh said, 'We are committed to making the registration process more secure and foolproof.' One of the key solutions under consideration is the integration of Aadhaar and APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) into the student registration process. 'Linking these digital identity systems will help ensure data authenticity and minimise age-related fraud,' Singh said, after returning to Prayagraj from the meeting. The APAAR ID is a 12-digit unique student identifier launched under the Union government's 'One Nation, One Student ID' initiative, as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It allows students to digitally store and access their academic records, thus serving as a lifelong academic identity. At the SGFI meeting, Uttar Pradesh was also recognised for organising the best sporting events, with secretary Bhagwati Singh receiving the award on behalf of the state. The gathering also ratified previous resolutions and discussed future action plans and strategic initiatives to strengthen the education ecosystem.

UP Board proposes internal assessment
Prayagraj: The UP Secondary Education Board (UP Board) has proposed the introduction of internal assessments in non-practical subjects for classes 11 and 12. The new system, if approved by the state govt, is set to be implemented from the academic session 2026-27 and is aimed at aligning the state's education system with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Currently, non-practical subjects such as Hindi, English, Sanskrit and Economics at the intermediate level are assessed solely through 100-mark written examinations. Under the new proposal, 20 marks will be allocated for internal assessment, reducing the written exam to 80 marks. This change mirrors the existing internal assessment model in high school and is designed to promote continuous and comprehensive evaluation of students. Meanwhile, a similar adjustment has been suggested for practical subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Home Science, where the practical component currently holds 30 marks. The Board proposes to reduce the practical exam to 20 marks and introduce a 20-mark internal assessment component, thereby standardising the assessment pattern across all subjects at the intermediate level. This proposal follows expert recommendations made during a recent workshop organised by the UP Board at Centre for Modern Assessment Techniques (CMAT), where education specialists advocated for a balanced assessment model consisting of 80 marks for written exams and 20 marks for internal or practical evaluations. UP Board secretary, Bhagwati Singh said that the proposal has been submitted to the govt and awaits formal approval. "A proposal has been sent for internal assessment of 20 marks in non-practical subjects. After the approval of the govt, it will be implemented from the next session," Singh said. A parallel proposal has also been submitted to adjust internal assessment in high school (classes 9 and 10). Here, the current internal assessment of 30 marks in all subjects is proposed to be reduced to 20 marks, aligning the high school evaluation system with the new intermediate model. The UP Board first introduced the internal assessment system in classes 9 and 10 in the academic session 2011-12, replacing the previous 100-mark written-only examination. Since then, a 70-30 split between written and internal assessment has been in place for high school board exams. This comprehensive reform is expected to impact more than one crore students across UP, including over 50 lakh students appearing annually for high school and intermediate board examinations. An additional 50 lakh students enrolled in classes 9 and 11 will also be affected. If implemented, this policy shift will mark a significant step toward modernising the state's assessment practices, promoting holistic education, and reducing the stress of high-stakes exams, officials said. UP Board: Teachers to face action for evaluation irregularities
1 2 Prayagraj: Action will be taken against teachers who committed irregularities in the evaluation of copies of the UP Board High School and Intermediate Examination 2025. The secretary of the UP Board, Bhagwati Singh, has written to the additional secretaries of the Meerut, Bareilly, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur regional offices, seeking a list of examiners whose checked answer sheets were found to have unevaluated questions, errors in mentioning page-wise marks, overwriting in awarding marks differences in ink while awarding marks. A team constituted by the board will closely check all such copies, and if any discrepancy is found, action will be taken against the teacher. A thorough investigation will be conducted on the inspected answer sheets sent to the Board Headquarters for approval by the team constituted at the headquarters level and subject experts. The secretary has clarified that after the investigation, if the case appears suspicious, its forensic investigation will also be conducted. The team members will ensure that there is no discrepancy inside and outside the answer sheets or in the addition of marks and whether any question is unevaluated. If no discrepancy of any kind is found in any answer sheet, then the case will be put in the category of 'no change' only after being fully assured. After verifying the answer sheets, if the marks match with the calculator register, mark sheet, and OMR (award) without any discrepancies, a "no change" confirmation will be communicated.
