Beyond The Gates Recap: Smitty Comes Dangerously Close to Upsetting The Dupree Apple Cart originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Fairmont Country Club: Martin and Vernon are enjoying a meal. They talk a bit about The Articulettes before Vernon brings up that dreadful night. Martin says the past is right in front of them and isn't going anywhere. With that, the duo shoots glances at the nosy waiter. Martin is thrilled his grandfather believes him as he thought he was losing his mind. Vernon says they must do something to calm his nerves. He thinks he should make the suggestion to get the young waiter moved to a different post. They also need to find out what game the young man is playing. Martin tells his grandfather more about what happened with the young waiter the day before. Vernon thinks something more underhanded is happening. Just then, the young waiter approaches and Martin has another flashback. The young waiter says Martin looks like he saw a ghost. Vernon wonders whether they've met before. He says it's hard to tell with so many of their people looking alike – Duprees, he means. Vernon responds knowing EXACTLY what the young waiter meant. With that, Vernon dismisses him and tells Martin he knows the young man is connected to the incident. Martin agrees as he knows he was there that night. Vernon wonders why he would be here and now. With that, Vernon says they need to get to work and make their exit. Unfortunately, Martin leave his keys behind… Martin and Smitty's Place: Smitty and Tyrell are hanging out. Smitty is researching his latest articles and Tyrell compares it to his love of chess. Smitty says he is doing a profile on a police detective. Tyrell calls it a puff piece but knows his dad will turn it into something better. Tyrell asks to hear it and Smitty begins to read. He says he's done some digging and thinks there's more to this guy than meets the eye. Smitty shows his son the information about Marcel taking what appears to be bribes. He is certain something isn't right. How does a cop go from getting by to being a millionaire in such a short amount of time. They do some searching and Smitty wonders who helped Marcel hit the lottery two years prior. Police Station: Jacob is furious when Marcel approaches and asks what's up. He asks if his ire is directed at Leslie's case and Jacob gets all kids of fiery with his elder. Jacob thinks Marcel is nothing but talk. Orphey Gene's: Kat wants to talk about business while Chelsea wants to discuss her relationship with Madison. Kat wonders why she is moving at lightning speed and says she could never. They talk a bit about the meeting with the family before moving on to work issues. Kat tells Chelsea they are being sued for copyright infringement. Chelsea says the idea for the purse was hers alone. Kat believes her and Chelsea thinks someone heard the buzz about their product and is trying to profit. Kat wonders if they will always be plagued with these types of barriers. They both think they need to work together to squash the opposition, so folks know not to mess with them. Jacob arrives and Kat demands an update on THEIR case. He pushes back but Kat demands to be the first person he calls when he gets the results of the DNA test. She grabs her bag and prances towards the door where she runs into Naomi. Naomi wonders if she needs to apologize for her cousin but Jacob says she's lowkey a better partner than the one he's been assigned. Jacob asks Naomi what's up and she tells him about June and the cleanup crew. She's been displaced once again and is without any of her stuff. Jacob says he'll make some calls but thinks June shouldn't get her hopes up. Bill and Hayley's Place: Bill is going on about nonsense when Hayley confronts him about his health. She wants to know the truth so they can fight together. Bill is confused and Hayley says the insurance company called and she wants him to spill. He says he is just making sure she is protected in case anything ever happens. Hayley says she only cares about him, and he promises he's not going anywhere. Just then, Bill gets notice of Chelsea's arrival. Chelsea says she is looking for some free legal advice and shows Bill the copyright suit along with a cease-and-desist order. She promises the purse was her idea and she doesn't even know who these folks are. Chelsea wonders if they are actually capable of shutting their business down. Things get heated with the trio and Chelsea gets snarky with both Bill and Hayley. As Hayley is exiting the room, Chelsea stops her and thanks her for getting her father to the hospital and sticking by his side. She doesn't mean to offend her in her own home. She turns to Bill and says despite his heinous actions, she loves him. Bill knows he hasn't always been a good father but would love to use this opportunity to work together and get closer. Bill and Chelsea sit down, and he says the suit is simply a first effort at intimidation. Chelsea thanks her father. After some pushing, she admits she came to him because he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Police Station: Marcel asks Elon about Smitty's puff piece. Elon says it's mandatory as the department needs good press. Marcel indicates Smitty is asking all kinds of questions which could cause problems for him and his retirement. Elon wonders if he's been tipped off which leads Marcel to wonder if Martin is responsible. Chelsea and Kat's Digs: Tomas arrives to give Kat legal advice about Leslie's case. She asks if it's possible to hire a private DNA lab to test the sample as the city's folks are backlogged for months. Tomas says it would take the sample out of the chain of custody. Tomas and Kat get all hot and heavy when she shuts down the scene. Kat apologizes but Tomas says she's helping him be a good role model to his little brother, Ramon (when will we meet Ramon and when will he hook up with Samantha?). He says good things are worth waiting for (will he sleep with Eva before Kat?). Tomas asks if there is something she's waiting for to take that next step with him. Kat says she has seen people in her family take chances with love and be devastated. She doesn't want to be anyone's after thought. Tomas assures she won't ever be his afterthought. With that, he says he needs to go back to work. Kat embraces him but Tomas doesn't seem happy. Orphey Gene's: Naomi asks June to please let her secure safter housing. June ignores her words and asks about her things. Naomi says there's no information yet, but Jacob is on the case. June indicates she's not used to folks looking out for her. They talk about the picture and June says there's something about those kids' faces that is special. She thinks if you have a child, it makes the world better. She can imagine anything as she lives her life through that photograph. Naomi promises they will do everything they can to reunite her with her photograph. Jacob arrives with a box of June's things. She looks through everything and thanks Jacob for all his help. She rummages through the box but doesn't see the picture. June freaks out as she throws everything out of the box. At the bottom, she finds the picture and breaks down in tears. She promises her children she will never leave them again. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Bill says Chelsea doesn't need to do anything and promises to handle everything. Elon tells Marcel he convinced PR to take the precinct off the publicity tour. There will be no more interviews for the foreseeable future. Marcel says that doesn't solve their problems as Smitty's investigation is going to lead him back to his own house. Marcel tells Elon someone needs to get the message through to him right quick. Elon promises to drive the point home. Smitty calls someone saying he needs to talk to them right now. Vernon speaks to someone (presumably Elon) that the situation needs to be shut down. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Chelsea and Kat's Digs: Chelsea and Madison are basking in the afterglow of their afternoon delight. Madison notices Chelsea getting on her phone and wonders why that's her first inclination. Chelsea says she has to continue to feed the beast, but Madison thinks she is just looking for a dopamine hit. Chelsea says this is her work and Madison recognizes her pride in what she does, which is the same way she feels about her occupation. Madison says sometimes the most important connections happen when you put the phone down. With that, she makes her exit. Martin and Smitty's Home: Samantha asks Smitty, 'what's gay sex like' which leads him to do a spit take. She says it's for the community college course she's taking, and the first assignment is human sexuality. Smitty wonders how she got permission, and she says Martin signed off on it. Smitty thinks if he signed the papers, he can answer the questions. They both wonder why he's not home yet. Smitty and Samantha chat a bit about her being a spokesperson for Kat and Chelsea's purse line. She wants to help them out so later on she can model for their fitness line. Smitty pulls his daughter close and they embrace. Fairmont Country Club - Hallway: Martin grabs the nosy waiter by the lapel and demands to know who he is. The waiter continues to play games, but Martin knows they have a connection. He hands the waiter a bill and tells him to say, 'let's see what color's your money.' When he says it in an angry voice, Martin flashes back to that dreaded night. With that, the nosy waiter heads back to work. Fairmont Country Club – Lobby: Ashley storms in demanding to know why Naomi hasn't answered her calls. She can't believe she let Derek go through with the proposal. Naomi doesn't know what she was supposed to do when Derek approached her. She wanted to make sure he got something nice. Ashley can't believe she would help Derek when Naomi had to know a proposal wasn't what she wanted. Naomi wants to take their discussion inside the dining room and cancels her appointment with her client. Just then, Martin walks up and Ashley heads into the dining room. Martin and Naomi quickly catch up. She asks if he's ok and says she is always in his corner. A distraught Martin sends Naomi end to talk with Ashley. Before he can exit, the nosy waiter walks in. Fairmont Country Club – Bar: Ashley and Naomi down tequila shots and order more. Ashley apologizes for being extra. Naomi apologizes because she had her doubts about Derek's proposal. Ashley says he was so destroyed when she turned him down. Naomi thinks Derek will figure it out but wonders why she wasn't ready to seal the deal with Derek. Naomi reminds Ashley how she was there for her when she and Jacob had their issues. Ashely says it's not the same because they were meant to be together. Naomi thinks Ashley is making excuses and wants her to be honest. She asks her friend if there is someone else. Orphey Gene's: Jacob arrives, and Derek says the proposal was a bust. He says Ashley wants to marry him just not now. Jacob says at least she didn't say never. Derek counters Ashley thought the proposal was a test and Jacob wonders if she was right. Derek is coming to his senses and hates that he pushed Ashley. Jacob inquires and he says he was simply looking for some stability in his life. That being said, he wonders what is holding his beloved back. Andre tells Jacob and Derek he saw Ashley at Uptown because he thought they would be popping bottles in celebration. He assures Derek, she loves him, but he wonders why he was told no. With that, Derek hits the trail. Dani's Place: Andre arrives and kisses Dani. He says they need to talk and tells her about running into Chelsea and Kat. Andre worries his arrival gave their situation away. Dani is a wee freaked, but Andre thinks going public may be the right thing to do. Dani says she has to worry about ending up in the gossip rags and doesn't want to do anything else to rock their family. She thinks Nicole will be especially impacted but Andre thinks it's all about her and possibly Bill. Dani says Bill has nothing to say about her life since he chose to leave her for a child. Andre says he's not trying to be difficult. Dani appreciates his efforts but says she is tired of being played by men. Andre can't believe she is lumping him in with Bill, but she wonders why she shouldn't. Dani says she was fooled before and does not want to be fooled again. She asks if Andre is certain there isn't a younger woman around who might be tickling his fancy. Andre says since they started their thing, he hasn't focused on anyone but her. Dani sort of believes him and Andre thinks they should share their happiness with the world. She agrees and they seal it with a kiss. Just then, Chelsea arrives, and Dani says Andre is just leaving. Before Dani can say anything, Chelsea tells her mother she thinks she's in love. Chelsea tells her mother all about her new love interest. When she drops the name, Dani is not surprised as she knew there was a connection between her daughter and Bill's doctor. That being said, she does worry Chelsea is rushing into things so quickly. Joey's Gambling Pit: Vanessa wonders how Joey is doing, and they talk about their repeat sex on the poker table. Just then, Doug arrives on the scene. Joey pours Doug a drink. He asks what he walked in on, and Joey says Vanessa was putting the screws to him about laundering his money. Doug asks Joey to leave him alone with his wife. Vanessa tries to intercede, but Doug says THE MEN ARE TALKING! (Oh Lord). Joey pushes back but eventually relents and leaves Doug and Vanessa alone for a few minutes. Vanessa asks if Doug has lost his mind. Doug says he can't believe his wife is making back room deals with the likes of Joey. Vanessa counters Doug created this situation, and she is only trying to clean it up. She thinks her husband has some nerve asking questions of her after he has been lying for months. Vanessa thinks everything makes sense now and Doug admits he has a problem. Martin and Smitty's Home: Martin returns home, and Samantha hugs him. Smitty walks in and they briefly discuss dinner with Vernon. Samantha heads upstairs to work on her human sexuality paper which briefly freaks out Martin. Smitty asks Martin what's wrong, but he deflects. He asks about Smitty's interview with Marcel Malone. Smitty says he dug into Malone's past and found he was a bit shady back in the day. When he asks Martin about the situation, he flashes back to that dreaded night. Smitty asks about the connection between Martin's dreams and Marcel Malone. Martin says they are no longer dreams as he is hallucinating during the day. Smitty asks more questions and Martin tries to deflect. He demands to know what his husband is hiding that very minute. Martin says he can handle his own business, but Smitty is unmoved and wants him to get real help. Martin agrees but not until things clear up at work. Smitty says he has to make time or Smitty will drag him to therapy himself. Orphey Gene's: Andre arrives and tells Derek he heard about the proposal debacle from Ashley. Derek gets all kinds of snarky as his girlfriend seems to confide in Andre quite a bit. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Joey walks back in and Doug says they need 20% commission, and they will be splitting it down the middle. Joey agrees and Doug asks for specifics about the deal. Ashley downs another shot of tequila and tells Naomi there is no one else tempting her. Jacob side eyes Andre when he says he's on Derek and Ashley's side. Dani pushes Chelsea and says she should bring Madison over so the whole family can meet her. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Fairmont Country Club: Eva arrives to check in with Kat, who is on the phone talking about her purse line. She hangs up and Eva confronts her about taking the helmet and gloves from her room and planting it at Leslie's place. Kat denies her accusations and Eva suggests she stop trying to take her mama down. She says they will both stay around until they are ready to go. Ted runs into Carlton who asks if he managed to win back Nicole. Carlton goes on and on about Nicole when she arrives on the scene. She makes small talk and bids Carlton farewell before exiting to her yoga class. Carlton pushes Ted to make things right quickly with his wife before someone else snaps her up (Get to snapping, Carlton!). Martin and Smitty's Place: Smitty has been assigned a new piece on a retiring police detective, Marcel Malone (Note Martin's reaction). Martin thinks it's a puff piece, but Smitty doesn't want to develop a reputation for being difficult. Just then, Zack arrives and Smitty exits. Zack says a family run business in his district was robbed and the owner was brutally assaulted. He thinks it's a good time to send out a press release highlighting Martin's commitment to fighting crime. Martin agrees and says he will reach out to the family. As Zack tells him more about the robbery, Martin flashes back to the night of his own incident. Zack continues saying folks will do anything for money which sends Martin into another flashback. Afterwards, Zack exits leaving Martin alone with his thoughts. Uptown: Jacob and Marcel arrive and discuss a case. Marcel spots Leslie and thinks she is fine as wine. Jacob says she is a viper. He explains a bit about Leslie's connection to the Peterson case and how he is this close to collaring her. Marcel mentions there used to be other ways to get around the rules, but Jacob wants to keep on the straight and narrow. Just then, Leslie exits Garland Memorial Hospital: Derek and Ashley connect for the first time in a few days. He wonders if they are all good and she assures him they are. They both admit they are out of sync when Ashley gets a call to check on a patient. As she exits, Shanice enters and asks Derek what's wrong. Andre tells Ashley about his meeting with the board about the documentary. They've signed off which means he won't be around as much. Andre makes mention of Derek which leads Ashley to fill him in on the situation. Nicole and Ted's Home: Kat arrives to ask Mona about Leslie. Mona is still blaming herself for Leslie and Mona's presence, but Kat says to let it go. That being said, she has formulated a plan to allow Mona to help get rid of Leslie. Fairmont Country Club: Eva and Ted take a seat. She admits she felt more useful yesterday with Laura than at the salon. It made her remember how much she loved her work with Nicole. Ted realizes they may be able to help each other. He notes how Carlton has returned, and Kat has taken a leave of absence. Ted believes Eva could do the job. Eva is flattered but can't understand how he can trust her. Ted gets it but blames Leslie for everything. Further, he wants one of his daughters in the office. They chat a bit more and Eva agrees to take the job. She does wonder how Kat will feel about the situation. Just then, Colton arrives and Ted introduces him to their new office manager. Uptown: Derek meets up with Nicole who asks for details about Ashely. He says things are weird as they are being overly polite with one another. Naomi asks if he loves her and says that's all that matters. Derek isn't so sure, and Naomi tells him time is precious and urges him to fight for his relationship. Orphey Gene's: Leslie arrives to see Mona. She wonders why Mona invited her. Mona apologizes for lashing out and Leslie takes a seat. Kat watches on as her plan comes together. Mona tells Leslie she is open to hearing her out so she can get her point of view. Leslie talks about not getting over Ted and how, after Allan died, she snapped. Just then, Jacob arrives and sits in a nearby booth with Kat. Jacob is annoyed with Kat's continued meddling. He notes how she and Leslie have a lot in common. She blows off his comparison and says she is determined to rid her family of both Leslie and Eva. Unlike Leslie, her heart is in the right place. Mona tells Leslie she has a little smudge of something on the corner of her mouth, and she wipes it up. They go on with their conversation and Mona admits she doesn't blame Leslie for telling Ted about Eva. That being said, the way she went about it was shameful. She can't get past Leslie taking delight in Nicole's pain. Nicole and Ted's Home: Martin arrives to see his mother and he learns about his grandmother's revisiting his past. Nicole notes something is wrong, and Martin asks for a bit of advice. He admits to having nightmares and flashbacks which are hard to describe. Martin remembers flashing lights, loud noises and screaming. He tells his mother he thinks he is losing his mind. Nicole asks if he knows the origins, but Martin says he has no clue. He says the nightmares began far before Leslie: The Miniseries. Martin says his only real current stress is work and the kids but nothing new. Nicole asks how they make her feel and Martin says both scared and guilty. She thinks he needs to see a therapist and he promises to use one of her referrals. With that, he makes his exit. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Martin arrives and our favorite waiter/spy chases after him. Leslie says Mona is cruel for luring her to their favorite spot only to be brutally rebuffed. After her exit, Kat thanks Mona, grabs the napkin and re-joins Jacob. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Fairmont Country Club: The nosy waiter leans into Martin's ear and says, 'Let's see what color's your money.' Martin stands up and the waiter pretends to have asked him for the check. Vernon returns to the table and asks about Martin's confrontation with the waiter. Martin thinks he is now hearing things and says what he thought he heard the waiter say. Vernon thinks his grandson should go to one of the therapists his mother suggested. Martin wonders if the waiter is the man from the night in his dreams. Vernon thinks his grandson is off as he has hired someone to keep tabs on the folks from that night. As his grandfather speaks, Martin keeps an eye on the waiter. Orphey Gene's: Andre approaches Naomi and asks about Bill. She updates him and Andre takes a seat. He says he spoke with Ashley and her date with Derek. She says she worked with Derek to set up for the date. Andre thought as much but says Ashley was thinking Derek was going to break up with her. Naomi is stunned to hear that and says it couldn't be further from the truth. Naomi decides to set the record straight and says Derek is planning on proposing. Andre can't believe the whole thing is going in the opposite direction. Naomi hopes it's the right time for Derek to pull this particular move. Naomi thinks Derek almost dying in that fire through both their emotions off kilter. Uptown: Ashley tells Derek the ring looks amazing and says Naomi helped him pick it out. He slips the ring on her finger, but she stops him. She asks for a moment to catch her breath. Derek says he doesn't want to get married tomorrow, but she thought he was going to break up with her. Derek thinks their relationship is worth fighting for as they belong together. She looks deep into Derek's eyes and says she isn't ready. Derek shuts the ring box and says he knows he made the wrong move at the wrong time. He gets up and Ashley says she isn't saying no, just not yet. He doesn't know what the difference is. She stumbles over her words and says he knows what he wants. He wants her and asks again. She still says she's not ready and Derek concludes Ashley has been playing him. Ashley says she is simply trying to be honest with him. Derek remembers Ashley saying she only wanted to be with him but now thinks she's only trying to not hurt his feelings. Ashley doesn't understand why he is pushing so hard, and Derek doesn't understand how things went so wrong. Ashley thinks he didn't want a commitment but only to put out a test for her. The two go back and forth until Derek drops some cash and the bar and makes his exit, leaving Ashley in tears. Joey's Gambling Pit: Vanessa confronts Joey and says she has reevaluated every move he's made over the past few months. She realizes she has the upper hand. Vanessa tastes her drink and says it needs more vodka before calling Joey on his disreputable business. She knows her firm is idea for laundering his money. He hesitates but she pushes forward. Joey sets out a plan that allows Vanessa to pay off Doug's debt. She laughs saying she would have agreed to work with him if he'd only asked. Vanessa says she could be enticed into a partnership if the terms were right. She goes on to say she would need Doug's debt forgiven and final say on whatever partnerships they pursue as well as commissions on each transaction for her and Doug. Joey says Vanessa's proposition is unacceptable and decides to simply connect from Doug. She says he can do that but that move would lead her to alert her connections in law enforcement and the gaming commission to investigate Joey's questionable businesses. Vanessa begins to cry saying what a good witness she would make. Joey is very intrigued but warns Vanessa not to make an enemy out of him. She wants to do nothing of the sort, and he pulls her close to him. Chelsea and Kat's Place: Chelsea and Madison meet up for a meal. Madison wanted them to be alone so they could actually talk. They chat a bit about Chelsea's very visible life. Chelsea says she would never post about anyone without their permission. She asks if Madison is out. She is but her dad had a bit of a problem adjusting. Chelsea admits she's the same as she hasn't been able to open up to a father she doesn't trust. Madison probes but Chelsea stops her deflection and asks more about her family. Madison says her dad is now cool and pesters her to find the right woman. Chelsea and Madison discuss their histories and how much they differ. They giggle and clearly enjoy each other. Madison asks if Chelsea is still experimenting. Chelsea describes herself as queer woman who doesn't really care about gender. With that, she moves in and the two kiss. Police Station: Marcel thanks Elon for the change in his schedule. Elon wonders what he's talking about, and Marcel says he's been set up for an interview. Elon notes that often happens and tells him to smile for the camera as the department could use good PR. Just then, Smitty arrives and introduces himself as Bradley Smith from the Washington Record. Smitty sits down to interview Marcel and says they have a connection through Jacob. Marcel says his partnership is pretty much in name only. He does note Jacob's investigation into Leslie and says he knows Smitty is a Dupree grandson-in-law. Smitty continues by talking about Marcel's boat. He pulls out a picture and asks if that's Joey Armstrong in the background. Marcel says he has no clue and Smitty apologizes for asking about his very large very expensive boat. Smitty gets back to business and mentions some of his high-profile cases, including the Dalrymple murder. Marcel says he's mistaken. Smitty notes it was never solved, and the main suspect was Joey Armstrong's guy. He notes Marcel got the collar and Joey Armstrong's guy is still on the payroll. He wonders about the continued connection. Uptown: Andre walks in and finds Ashley crying. She explains about the proposal but says it was more like an ultimatum. He thinks Derek will cool down, but Ashley says he's gone for good. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Chelsea lights some candles and we get the montage music which says she and Madison are going to hit the sheets. Joey and Vanessa agree they have a deal and decide to hit the poker table to confirm. Marcel says duty calls which will cut his interview with Smitty short. Smitty said he had an hour and Marcel indicates he shouldn't throw stones when he lives in a glass house. With that, Marcel exits leaving Smitty to wonder when the walls of his humble abode turned to glass. Beyond The Gates Recap: Dani Gives Nicole a Crash Course in Break The China Therapy originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Garland Memorial Hospital: Bill brags to Hayley about his progress but she thinks he still needs PT. Just then, Shanice enters all ready to go. Hayley and Shanice give him the business before Shanice wants to start with his arms. She tells him to crumple paper into a ball. He successfully completes the task with his left hand but is unable to do so with his right. Just then, Dr Montgomery arrives to check in. Hayley explains Bill is a charmer at home 99% of the time but that other 1% he can be an ass. She and Shanice giggle (I like seeing Hayley have someone with whom she gets along) while Bill grouses. Dr Montgomery tells Bill the only way he's getting out of the hospital is by proving himself in PT. Anita and Vernon's Mansion: Vernon gets a call from Anita about her trip to Chicago. She talks about how meeting the other women helped her get out of the projects. He thinks it was inevitable just like the two of them. Vernon promises to keep the home fires burning. Nicole and Ted's Home: Nicole asks Laura how she's settling in. Laura is frustrated but Nicole tells her to be patient and says how proud she is of her for recovering so quickly. Laura asks if it would be ok if she asks Eva to come over and walk her through her new system. Nicole agrees as long as Eva is willing. Nicole admits to missing a version of Eva and even thought she was telling the truth the day before. That being said, she can't forget all that Eva did to blow up her family. Laura tries to be supportive, but Nicole goes on to note how Ted also lied to her and is even more responsible for blowing up their lives. She apologizes to Laura for dumping on her, but she is happy things are getting back to normal. Eva arrives and learns from Laura that Nicole signed off on her visit. Laura compliments Eva's work system but needs some help. Eva realizes Laura doesn't really need help and she admits she thinks Nicole really misses her. Eva thinks Laura is appeasing her, but she says it's how she feels. Eva says she doesn't deserve a relationship with Nicole, but Laura thinks that should be her decision to make. Eva can't imagine how they would move past the hurt and embarrassment. Laura can't know how things will shake out, but she wants Eva to be prepared either way. Leslie's Apartment: Leslie is excitedly watching her story when Jacob arrives with yet another search warrant. She asks what Kat had to do with the new search. Jacob tells her to send questions to her lawyer. She gets snarky in an attempt to distract Jacob and talks about her story, 'Before Always.' She says she is enjoying Millie who used to be the villain but is now the heroine. Leslie wishes real life could work that way (such good writing). Suddenly, Jacob finds the motorcycle helmet and gloves that Kat planted. Leslie thinks it's awfully convenient he found nothing the first time and now found evidence in the open in her living room. She suggests the evidence has been tampered with before Jacob and his partner exit. As they walk away, Leslie says, 'spoiler alert: In the end, I win.' Orphey Gene's: Kat is ribbing Chelsea about her live stream with Dr Montgomery. Chelsea is reluctant to discuss which makes Kat wonder why she's being so coy. They chat a bit about her not having told Bill she's into women, but Chelsea says now is not the time. Chelsea says they need a bigger work and living space and suggests they use Dani's guesthouse. Kat reminds her that she is volunteering to live mere feet away from her mother. Just then, Jacob arrives to speak with Kat and Chelsea makes her exit. Jacob tells Kat about the search warrant and how he found the helmet and gloves. Kat is thrilled but Jacob thinks it's very strange the evidence suddenly appeared. He thinks Kat had a hand in planting the evidence just in time for his search. Kat denies any wrongdoing and Jacob says he moved forward with analyzing the evidence. He thinks they could soon have enough to demand a DNA sample. Just then, Jacob gets a call and learns they have visual confirmation of a match with the video. Kat notes they are another step closer to putting that bitch away. Just then, Jacob gets a call with what is clearly not great news. Anita and Vernon's Mansion: Nicole and Dani arrive, and their father tells them about The Articulettes' reunion. Vernon says they are in Chicago, and their mother will be home in a few weeks. Dani is excited but Nicole looks distraught. She breaks down saying she needs her mother right now. Nicole apologizes for her outburst and Vernon realizes she came over to seek her mother's counsel. He notes how much Anita needs this time to reunite with her old bandmates and she's just a call away. Dani thinks it's great her mother is getting to scratch her FOMO itch. Also, in a pinch, Nicole has her. She knows what it's like to be betrayed by the man she loves. Nicole hates they are in the same club, but Dani wants to teach her the secret handshake. With that, Dani ushers her sister out. Garland Memorial Hospital – Bill's Room: Dr Madison asks about Bill's daughters and notes the influencer and the lawyer's different life paths. Bill realizes Dr Montgomery is asking her questions to test his cognitive abilities. She doesn't disagree but also likes to get to know her patients. She goes on and asks what it's like to have a daughter with over a million followers which reminds Hayley the good doctor was on young Chelsea's feed the day before. Nicole and Ted's Home: Laura thanks Eva for helping her learn the new system. Eva is grateful for an opportunity to be helpful – in the midst of this back and forth she declines a call from her mother. She only wishes she could take back everything from the past few months. Laura notes her improved relationship with Ted and thinks she and Nicole will eventually come back together. Just then, Eva gets another call from her mother and walks into the other room. Leslie says they have come to the end of the world as they know it. Dani's Place: Dani hands Nicole a cup and tells her to throw it against the wall. She's reluctant so Dani goes first. She says nothing broken in her sister's life is under her control. Nicole takes the cup and breaks it into a million pieces. With that, Dani hand her another and she breaks it. Dani directs Nicole to put a name on the next cup before she breaks it. She leads by example by yelling at her Bill cup before sending it into the wall. Nicole follows by going off on her Ted cup before sending it to crash and burn. Leslie's Apartment: Leslie pulls Eva in and asks if her daughter wants her dead or in prison for the rest of her life. Eva has no clue what's happening as her mother continues. She tells Eva all about the second search warrant and Jacob finding the helmet and gloves. She wants to know how the hell they ended up back in her apartment. Leslie is crushed to think her daughter wanted her to get caught. She breaks down a bit as she says aloud Eva doesn't love her anymore. Garland Memorial Hospital – Lobby: Chelsea arrives and asks Shanice about her dad. She says he is a grouch when Madison arrives. She says Bill is vocal and strong-willed but says he is quickly improving. Chelsea says she and her father weren't in the best place but feels hopeful they will be able to get their relationship back. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Madison tells Chelsea that Bill is lucky to have gotten to the hospital so quickly. Chelsea swears her to secrecy but secretly thanks Hayley for acting so quickly. She gets a little flirty about seeing Madison during her father's follow ups. Madison suggests they grab dinner sometime. Jacob tells Kat the judge is unwilling to grant an order to collect DNA because they suddenly found evidence during the second search which was not revealed in the first. Without the DNA, they are dead in the water. Eva says she will always love her mother. However, there never should have been a helmet and gloves to hide as she should never have run Laura off the road. Eva admits she hid the evidence in her hotel room and has no idea how it got back here. She has to know she would never intentionally do anything to hurt her. Leslie nods in agreement but says this is not how her second chance was supposed to work out. She begins to cry, and Eva promises to try and figure out what happened. Leslie promises to get some rest. The two exchange I love yous and a hug before Eva exits. After she leaves, Leslie laughs and says she is here to stay.
