Dolly Parton Shares Her Unfiltered Thoughts About Beyoncé And Her Unique Cover Of 'Jolene'
Since releasing her country album, "Cowboy Carter," Beyoncé has garnered the praise of several country stars, from Billy Ray Cyrus to the iconic Dolly Parton. In fact, Beyoncé covered one of Parton's biggest hits on her genre-bending project, and during a recent interview, the "9 to 5" singer shared her candid thoughts about the "Crazy In Love" singer's rendition. On her eighth studio album, Beyoncé recorded a slew of country singles, including the chart-topping track "Texas Hold 'Em," and her cover of Parton's hit song, "Jolene." However, Queen Bey's version is altered slightly from the original, featuring the lyrics, "I'm warning you, don't come for my man." Although different, Parton loved Beyoncé's iteration and even described herself as a "huge fan" of the Destiny's Child alum. "I mean, who's not? Everybody loves her,' she told PEOPLE. 'I think she's a magnificent artist, beautiful and the dancing in addition to the singing," Parton continued, before revealing more of her thoughts about the "Single Ladies" singer's version of her classic country hit. 'I was just honored that she, of course, did a completely different take on 'Jolene' than my version of it," Parton told the publication. "Hers was more like, 'Well, you're not getting him, you're not taking him, you're going to go through me to get him.' Mine was more like, 'Please don't take him!' So I loved her interpretation." Parton explained that as a musician, she is always interested in hearing how another artist will interpret her work. But she admitted she was "very proud" of Beyoncé's version specifically and wished the mother of three well on her ongoing "Cowboy Carter" tour. When the news of Beyoncé's country album broke in 2024, rumors began circulating that the singer would include a version of Parton's "Jolene" on the project. Parton didn't officially confirm the news at the time, but in a previous interview, she reaffirmed her love for the singer and said she was "excited she's done a country album." The 79-year-old even defended Bey's country roots, saying that people "don't realize Beyoncé is a country girl ... from Texas." 'I think we belong wherever we can do good, and her song is number one across every chart in the whole world, I think. So, I mean, who can argue with that?' And even though Beyoncé's single, "Texas Hold 'Em," reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Country Music charts, "Cowboy Carter" was still left off the ballot for the 2024 Country Music Awards (CMAs). Loyal BeyHive fans swarmed social media to voice their frustration about Beyoncé's name being excluded from the nominations, considering she was the first Black woman to secure a No. 1 country single in the genre's history. Parton also weighed in on the controversy and shared her thoughts on why Beyoncé might've been overlooked. "Well, you never know. There's so many wonderful country artists that, I guess, probably the country music field, they probably thought, well, we can't really leave out some of the ones that spend their whole life doing that," she said. And she wasn't the only one with this perspective. Luke Bryan, a prominent country music star and past CMA host known for hits like "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)," told Andy Cohen that the situation regarding Beyoncé and the award show was "tricky." "It's a tricky question because, obviously, Beyoncé made a country album, and Beyoncé has a lot of fans out there that have her back. And if she doesn't get something they want, man, they come at you," Bryan said. "I'm all for everybody coming in and making country albums and all that. But just by declaring that, just because she made one. I don't need [a nomination], just 'cause I make one." "Everybody loved that Beyoncé made a country album. Nobody's mad about it. But where things get a little tricky and, and you know — if you're gonna make country albums, come into our world and be country with us a little bit," he added. "Beyoncé can do it exactly what she wants to. She's probably the biggest star in music." "But come to an award show and high-five us, and have fun and get in the family too," the country music singer continued. "And I'm not saying she didn't do that."

The Beyoncé Effect? BeyHive Questions New Grammy Country Switch-Up
Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Okay, we all know that Beyoncé can make the whole world stop with the snap of her fingers, but did she REALLY just convince the Recording Academy to switch up their Grammy categories… just by winning?! Billboard reports that the 'Best Country Album' category will be renamed 'Best Contemporary Country Album.' Meanwhile, a new category, 'Best Traditional Country Album,' will be added. The new change will take effect at the 2026 Grammys 'The community of people that are making country music in all different subgenres came to us with a proposal and said we would like to have more variety in how our music is honored,' Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. tells Billboard . 'They said, we think we need more space for our music to be celebrated and honored.' The timing of the change is notable, as it comes months after Beyoncé's big night at the 2025 Grammys. In addition to finally winning 'Album of The Year,' Bey's Cowboy Carter won 'Best Country Album.' With that, she became the first Black woman to win the category. However, many in the country music world slammed her win. Notably, John Rich of country duo Big & Rich called Beyoncé's win 'a total joke' and said that the Recording Academy 'outed themselves' as pushing an agenda. It is also not the first time that a Beyoncé win seemingly created a Grammy shake-up. Previously, she won 'Best Dance/Electronic Album' for Renaissance at the 2023 Grammys. The following year, a new category was introduced, 'Best Dance Pop Recording.' Whether it's simply coincidental or part of a bigger conspiracy, the BeyHive is definitely buzzing! Beyoncé 'giving away free tickets' to Cowboy Carter tour after defying critics
Beyoncé is reportedly giving away tickets to her star-studded gigs in London as critics claim the singer's Cowboy Carter tour is 'flawless' and 'show-stopping' Cowboy Carter star, Beyoncé, is giving away free tickets for her tour to those who are struggling financially, according to reports. The Destiny's Child star has silenced the critics claiming she had 'hundreds of unsold seats' in the the capital as she wowed crowds with her shows last week, which fans have branded 'flawless' and 'show-stopping'. Tickets for the shows, which take place in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, are not cheap, with many of the BeyHive shelling out more than £100 to catch a glimpse of the Dangerously In Love star. However, Beyoncé, 43 is now reportedly giving away free tickets to several low-income families in the capital, who have been offered the chance to see the show by food banks. The Sun reports that the community services, which provide free food and essential items to individuals and families in need, could be offering families a surprise chance to see the star in action after the ticket cost outpriced many from being able to attend the glittering gigs. Beyoncés fans were shocked at the cost when tickets went on sale in February. The tour had the highest top-priced ticket of any artist performing in the UK this year, at £950. Promoters then slashed prices in the build-up, leaving thousands angry over the fortune they spent. In the fan presale, certain tickets were priced at £620, but have since been available for £141.60. However, according to critics, the shows are well worth seeing as they hailed the singer's performance as 'exceptional'. Beyoncé took London by storm with the launch of her Cowboy Carter tour last week. The seasoned star kicked off the series of six electrifying performances at the north of the city - and the reviews are in. Following her first show on Thursday (June 5), critics have showered the superstar with praise, with The Mirror awarding the Single Ladies singer a dazzling five stars, hailing her as being in 'top form.' Our reviewer wrote: 'From flawless vocals and choreography and a seamless blend of bold stunts and spectacular visuals. In one section, the Texas native climbs on top of a gold-plated bucking mechanical bull as she gyrates and gets thrown from side to side without missing a note." Meanwhile, Wales Online lauded the show for its 'intense dance routines, emotional moments, nine quick changes and a flying car,' adding: 'Beyonce's Cowboy Carter is likely the most complete performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season." However, not all feedback was glowing as some suggested Beyoncé leaned too heavily on her stage production. One ticketholder said: "Ultimately it's left to a few show-stopping stadium gimmicks to make the evening: Bey flying over the crowd on a neon horseshoe on a thumping Jolene, or in a classic American car for 16 Carriages." Beyoncé is performing in London for four more shows, including tonight, 12, 14, and 16 June.

Beyonce battles rain and empty seats with daughters on London stage
Still, if anyone can sell country-pop to a British stadium in the rain, it's Beyoncé. A few empty rows didn't stop the BeyHive from hollering every lyric back at her. And with her daughters now stealing the spotlight too, it looks like the Carter dynasty is just getting started.
