Tanks roll into DC after 1,300-mile journey ahead of Army's 250th anniversary parade

Columns of tanks have arrived in Washington DC ahead of an enormous planned military parade to mark the US Army's 250th anniversary, which coincides with President Trump's birthday and Flag Day. An mile-long line of tanks, some of the 150 military vehicles set to take part in Saturday's parade, arrived in the capital by freight train over the weekend, video shared on X by reporter Benjamin Alvarez shows. M1 Abrams tanks, M2 Bradley and Stryker fighting vehicles, and M109 Paladin howitzers were among the equipment that arrived this past Saturday, ending a 1,300-mile journey from Texas that began on May 21. Ahead of the big event, soldiers and equipment who will take part in the parade will be housed in a Department of Agriculture building and a warehouse owned by the General Service Administration, according to USA Today. 6 The tanks set off from Texas last month. via REUTERS In addition to the parade and a fireworks display, the festivities will include a fitness competition, military demonstrations and other activities. The route is laid out west-to-east along the Mall, starting near the Lincoln Memorial and ending by the Washington Monument. 6 Saturday's parade coincides with President Trump's 79th birthday. Super Bowl: Philadelphia predictably loses its mind, climbs poles after Eagles' second championship

Philadelphia was never going to win a Super Bowl and relax. Not when there are still poles to climb, to despite strong and recent evidence they probably shouldn't. Fans swarmed downtown Philly in the wake of the Eagles' dominant 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. They knew they would probably have some celebrating to do when their team took a 24-0 lead into halftime, and the game was all but over by midway through the third quarter. As fans congregated downtown, it was inevitable people would start climbing light poles, a dangerous thing to do that killed a Temple University student two weeks ago after the Eagles won the NFC championships. Downtown Philadelphia now #FlyEaglesFly — Benjamin Alvarez (@BenjAlvarez1) February 10, 2025 In addition to climbing poles, a group of Philadelphia fans took over a garbage truck. The streets of downtown Philadelphia after the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Celebratory chaos. Reminder an 18-year-old college student fell off a pole and died after the NFC Championship game. Truly hoping this is safe tonight… — Sam Brock (@SamBrockNBC) February 10, 2025 Despite near-freezing temperatures, the crowd on Broad Street was simply massive. Broad Street at Locust completely bonkers. The crowds are definitely larger than in 2018. State College, home of Penn State University, was also having a good time. The championship is the second in Eagles franchise history, after their triumph at Super Bowl LII in 2018. A franchise that struggled to get over the hump for decades finished the 2024-25 season looking like an unstoppable machine, led by Super Bowl MVP and Philadelphia's adopted son Jalen Hurts.
