MasterChef Australia favourite latest to be eliminated after serving up an unpalatable spider

Beau Cook was sent home on Sunday's episode of MasterChef Australia: Back to Win. The 40-year-old firefighter, who first appeared on the cooking competition in 2012, failed to impress the judges in the 'childhood classics' challenge. Beau's dish was an attempt to recreate a 'spider', a favourite from his boyhood, made up of ice cream and cola. However, Beau added a unique twist to the dessert combining rum, roasted macadamia crumble, vanilla ice cream, stewed sour cherries and cola flavoured granita. But the combination of flavours fell flat for the judges who felt that the dish did not quite capture the magic of an authentic 'spider'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. During the elimination judge Andy Allen said that while Beau's dish was enjoyable it 'really missed the mark on recreating that childhood joy we were after.' After listening to the disappointing verdict Beau was asked by judge Sofia Levin whether he had surprised himself during the competition. 'Not getting booted off first,' Beau joked and added, ['The best bits have been hanging out with these guys.' 'Looking back now, I should have just made a spider. I should have made a fizzy cola and dunked the ice cream in there. That would have been so much more playful and simple, and I think that would've got me across the line,' he told 10Play later. He also revealed he was out to release an alcoholic hard lemon drink from all-natural ingredients called Wildpoint in July. 'That's the passion project. For me, I love cooking for family and friends, but it's not a career... I love food and produce, so making something like Wildpoint is really exciting.' It comes after Samira El Khafir surprising elimination last week in which she revealed she was happy to go home. The chef made eggplant chicken kofta but her dry meat let her down and led to her being sent home. After the news was broken that she was heading home, Samira found a silver lining. 'Thank you. No, this is good. It's my husband's birthday today' she quipped to laughter from her co-stars. 'This will honestly make his night, knowing I'm back to cook for him' she added. Samira went on to say that coming back to the show was a wonderful experience for her. 'Don't quit at anything. And you know, the world is massive. So there's just so much we can do. I loved every moment of it' she said of what she learned. 'I am feeling so happy and so blessed that I actually had this opportunity to come back' she added. 'I appreciate everything. I am super proud of myself. To be a mum of four and to pause work life to come join MasterChef again for the second time. 'It was so beautiful. I'm super proud of how far I've come.'
