New Massacre in Gaza City's al-Sabra neighborhood kills dozens, including children

Gaza – Saba: Zionist enemy forces on Saturday committed a horrific massacre in al-Sabra neighborhood in central Gaza City, killing at least 15 Palestinians, including six children, and wounding over 50 in a preliminary toll. The attack stemmed from a residential house being bombed with two missiles. Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Civil Defense in Gaza, told al Jazeera that the house was completely destroyed, making it "almost certain" everyone inside was martyred, with approximately 85 people remaining under the rubble and access extremely difficult. Civil Defense crews were forced to withdraw due to inability to reach bodies, describing the scene as "very harsh" and "a complete massacre." Basal noted that injuries arriving at hospitals are "extremely serious," while the medical system suffers from widespread destruction and severe supply shortages, threatening the wounded's lives. He added that Civil Defense is losing many survivors due to a lack of rescue equipment, relying solely on human effort after most vehicles were destroyed. Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli enemy army, with American and European support, has been committing "crimes of genocide" in Gaza, resulting in 54,772 Palestinian deaths, mostly children and women, and 125,834 injuries. Thousands of victims remain under rubble, inaccessible to rescue crews. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

34 killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza: Civil Defence

Gaza, May 26 (UNI) At least 34 Palestinians, including a journalist and an official of the Civil Defence in Gaza, were killed on Sunday in Israeli attacks across Gaza, said Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence. Ten people, including journalist Hassan Abu Warda, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on homes and gatherings in Jabalia and Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, and 14 people were killed in Israeli attacks on homes, a gathering, and a motorcycle in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Basal told Xinhua. In central Gaza, five people were killed in an Israeli attack on a tent housing displaced people in the city of Deir al-Balah. Ashraf Abu Nar, director of operations at the Civil Defence, and his wife were killed in an Israeli bombing at his home. And a pregnant woman was killed in an Israeli attack on a tent in the Nuseirat refugee camp, Basal said. One person was killed by Israeli drones targeting a gathering of Palestinians in the al-Karama neighborhood, north of Gaza City, and another was killed in an Israeli attack on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, west of the city, Basal said. Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross said Sunday that two of its Palestinian staff members were killed in Israeli attacks on their homes in Khan Younis on Saturday. Also on Sunday, Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said its members carried out a complex operation targeting an army force that had taken refuge inside a house east of the town of Al-Qarara, east of Khan Younis. The Israeli army said in a statement that a tank commander from its 52nd Battalion was seriously wounded during a clash with Hamas in northern Gaza. Israel halted the entry of goods and supplies into Gaza on March 2, following the expiration of the first phase of a January ceasefire agreement with Hamas. It resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18, which have so far killed 3,785 people and injured 10,756, Gaza-based health authorities said Sunday. According to a statement issued Sunday by the Hamas-run Gaza government media office, the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 220. UNI XINHUA ARN

Most Gaza residents waiting for a single bag of flour

Gaza's Civil Defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Al Jazeera that the ongoing aid shortage is causing 'gradual' death across the enclave. Despite Israel easing its total blockade last week, most residents have yet to receive even a single bag of flour, Basal said. The lack of nutrition is putting children – especially premature infants – at increasing risk, he said. He estimated 1,000 aid trucks per day are needed to meet the basic needs of the Palestinians in Gaza, far more than the roughly 300 trucks Israel claims have entered since the blockade was eased last week. Basal called for a safe and reliable mechanism for aid deliveries, which he said should be managed by international humanitarian organisations. (Agencies)

At Least 64 Palestinians Killed In Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza

At least 64 Palestinians were killed in multiple Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, including children and displaced families, the Civil Defence in Gaza said. The attack targeted residential areas, a school sheltering civilians, and a humanitarian aid warehouse. As per IANS, on Saturday, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence, told Xinhua news agency that seven young men were killed and several others wounded when Israeli artillery shelled a group of Palestinians trying to return to their homes in the Shuja'iyya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City. He added that four people, including a woman and two children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the gate of Salah al-Din School, which shelters displaced families in western Gaza City. A fifth person was also killed in an airstrike on a residential apartment in the northern part of the city. At least 11 others were killed in attacks on a Palestinian gathering, while nine others were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a warehouse for distributing humanitarian aid in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, Basal added. The Hamas-run Gaza government condemned the attack on the warehouse and considered it "a serious and ongoing escalation of the systematic starvation policy pursued by the occupation in the Gaza Strip". Since Israel resumed its intensified military campaign on March 18, at least 3,131 Palestinians have been killed and 8,632 others injured, bringing the overall death toll in Gaza since the war began in October 2023 to 53,272, with a total of 120,673 people injured, according to health authorities in Gaza on Saturday.
