HDR By Barco To Reach 30 Theatres By The End Of 2025
The HDR by Barco format looks like its picking up steam with a number of new locations and ... More supporting content announced. Barco, the imaging company and leader in cinema laser projectors, has announced that its HDR by Barco technology will be rolling out to additional North America locations this year, bringing the total to 30 by the end of 2025. While the specific locations were not revealed, Barco said that Regal Cinemas will be adding the system to a further 20 of its RPX-branded locations, with the rest coming from the Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse. No new locations outside of the USA were announced, so, for now, Cineworld Leicester Square remains the only HDR by Barco-ready site in Europe. The company has also previously announced a partnership with Prasad Film Labs to bring the first HDR by Barco capable color grading facility to India. Of course, technology hardware is nothing without content, and after a slow start, it has revealed a healthy slate of HDR by Barco releases for the rest of the year, all of which are listed below, with How To Train Your Dragon currently showing. No doubt related to the opening of the grading facility in India, Barco says that Indian cinema content graded for HDR by Barco will be forthcoming. Finally, Barco also announced that a new dedicated HDR by Barco facility will be opened in the iconic Glen Glenn Film Center in Hollywood this July. The fully renovated suite will feature HDR by Barco projection as well as state-of-the-art sound and film grading capabilities. As well as being available for industry demos and screenings, Barco says that the facility will be open to filmmakers for feature grading, which should ensure that HDR by Barco graded titles become the norm. First introduced in late 2024, HDR by Barco is the highest-quality projection format available, with its Lightsteering technology enabling true HDR projection, offering viewers richer and more intense images that are up to six times brighter than conventional systems. However, the system could soon have competition for true cinematic HDR with Samsung launching its Onyx Cinema LED system for the first time in Europe at CineEurope 2025.

I-League: Inter Kashi win appeal in CAS, await verdict in second case
After the latest ruling from CAS, Inter Kashi moved to second place with 38 points, below Churchill Brothers, who have 42 points PANAJI: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned the decision of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) appeals committee which had deducted three points from Inter Kashi for their clash against Namdhari FC in the I-League. In an arbitral award delivered by the Switzerland-based CAS, Frans de Weger, president of the three-member panel, said 'the decision issued on April 18, 2025, by the appeals committee of the AIFF is set aside and the terms of the decision issued on February 24, 2025, by the AIFF disciplinary committee in the matter IL 2024-25/102 is confirmed.' Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! According to the order, Namdhari have been adjudged to have fielded an ineligible player (Cledson da Silva), who had not served a one-match suspension, in accordance with Article 12.3.2 of the I-League regulations for accumulation of four cautions. The match, which Namdhari had won at home, results in a forfeiture (0-3 loss), improving Inter Kashi's chances of becoming champions, ahead of Churchill Brothers FC. The AIFF said in a statement on Tuesday it will 'follow the CAS orders and implement its decision.' After CAS's latest ruling, Inter Kashi moved to second place with 38 points, below Churchill, who have 42 points. The I-League title now hinges on the verdict in the second case pending before CAS, an independent arbitration body that resolves sports disputes from across the world. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트, 지금 시작하세요 [자세히 보기] 임플란트 더 알아보기 Undo If Inter Kashi wins their second appeal, four more points can be added to their tally, while Churchill can lose two. The second case pertains to the registration of Mario Barco where Inter Kashi were docked four points. The appeals committee had heard an appeal from Churchill, Namdhari and Real Kashmir, and ruled that the re-registration of Barco by Inter Kashi made him an ineligible player. 'The rules do not provide for re-registration for anyone who has been ousted from the season due to a season ending injury/illness,' the appeals panel said in its order. Records suggest that Barco was part of Inter Kashi's initial squad – which included six foreigners -- for the I-League but was later replaced by Matija Babovic due to what was seen as a season-ending injury. The Spanish striker, however, continued to remain contracted with the club and made a return to the team in February since Julen Perez's contract termination during the January transfer window left a vacant foreign spot. Inter Kashi have challenged the order, arguing that the green signal to register the player came from the League Committee. The club said, 'according to article 13.1.5, AIFF League Committee shall provide due and necessary clarifications or explanations in the event of any doubt regarding the interpretation of these regulations or any other related matters and its decision shall be final and binding.' In a brief statement, Inter Kashi said they welcome Tuesday's CAS verdict and 'extend our sincere gratitude to our fans and well-wishers for their continued and unwavering support throughout this process.' According to sources, it was decided between all parties that the second case would be pursued only if Inter Kashi win the first one against Namdhari and AIFF. 'For Inter Kashi to become champions, they need to win both the cases in CAS,' a senior official told TOI. 'Now that the verdict is out in the first case, Inter Kashi will approach CAS for a quick decision in the second case regarding the eligibility of Mario Barco. Timelines are yet to be set but a final decision is expected latest by July 15.'

Prasad Film Labs and Belgium's Barco launch world's largest ‘HDR by Barco' colour grading facility at Chennai studio
If you were to watch the remastered editions of Steven Spielberg's 'ET' or 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' in an HDR-ready theatre today, chances are you might end up squinting while viewing sequences depicting the arrival of the extra-terrestrial motherships on planet Earth, shielding your eyes from the blinding spotlights emanating from the fuselages. For Gen Z arrivals, the nearest equivalent might be the 'daybreak on Earth as seen from outer space' sequence from Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity'. Among those pushing the envelope of cinematic immersiveness via post-production, is city-based Prasad Film Labs, which recently joined hands with Barco, a technology company headquartered in Kortrijk, Belgium. The two companies have together launched India's, and Asia's first, and the world's largest 'HDR by Barco' colour grading facility at Prasad's Chennai studio. What does the Barco collaboration mean for the filmgoing experience? Abhishek Prasad Akkeneni, CTO – Prasad Corporation (P) Ltd, began by speaking about the company's journey in the colour grading space. "We were among the first adopters of the Digital Intermediate (DI or colour grading) technology in India. One of the first films we worked on while employing DI was the Bollywood blockbuster 'Khakee'. The process of colour grading is the last part of post production, and it employs some of the most highly-trained professionals in the industry. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo These are technicians with a deep understanding of colour science and film grammar," he tells us. Prasad's grading suite is equipped with Barco's HDR Lightsteering technology toolkit, including its proprietary HDR Lightbox and LS4K-P HDR Lightsteering projector. The suite features a large 51-foot screen and the country's longest throw-distance in a DI suite. It enables colourists to work in a theatrical, larger-than-life setting, as opposed to performing colour correction and mastering for cinema and OTT deliverables on conventional large-format HD screens. In India, close to 1,500 films are churned out every year. So, post production is big business. And the work that goes into the 'post' of tentpole films starring A-listers is staggering. "Some of the biggest features, and tentpole films of the year take nothing less than 300 hours for colour grading. Between Prasad's three post production suites in Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad, we work on anywhere between 30 and 40 features a month," says Akkeneni. The grading for HDR for two major releases has already begun at the Prasad facility here. Colour grading might be only the tip of the iceberg, as Barco had made another major announcement earlier in May. The company inked a multi-year agreement with Chennai-based Qube Cinema, to deploy HDR by Barco in premium multiplexes across India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Moviegoers in these markets can expect at least 10 new HDR-ready theatres per year in the coming years, with all locations in the deal deployed by 2030.
