Police receive report from lorry driver involved in Kempas toll booth brawl

JOHOR BARU: Police have received a report from one of the two men involved in an altercation which took place at the Kempas toll booth on June 8 at 2.30pm. Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the report was lodged by the 31-year-old local man at 5.35pm on the same day the incident happened. He said the physical intimidation involved the 31-year-old lorry driver and an unidentified man, believed to be a passenger of a Proton Wira car. 'Our initial investigation found the lorry driver had honked at the car in front of him at the toll lane,'' ACP Balveer said in a statement on Friday (June 13). He said the lorry driver had done that as the driver of the car did not move after paying his toll, although the toll barrier had lifted. ACP Balveer said, angered by the sound of the horn, a man exited from the car's passenger seat and approached the lorry to confront the driver. 'The man demanded that the lorry driver open the door. Once it was opened, the man entered the lorry and hit the driver's face and head several times,'' he added. ACP Balveer said the lorry driver retaliated in self-defence by kicking the man, forcing the man to leave. He said the video of the incident was uploaded by a Facebook account holder 'Ingat Mati' at share/v/1YTaPrs4 ACP Balveer said the case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code. He also called upon those with information on the incident to call the Johor Baru North Police Contingent at 07-5563122.
