BEML signs licensing agreements with DRDO to manufacture advanced combat support vehicles for Army
BEML Limited on Monday said it has entered into three licensing agreements with the Vehicles Research and Development Establishment ( VRDE ), a premier DRDO laboratory, for the Transfer of Technology to manufacture critical mobility and support systems for the Indian Army's Armoured Corps. Under these agreements, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will indigenously develop and produce the Unit Maintenance Vehicle (UMV) and Unit Repair Vehicle ( URV ) for MBT Arjun , and the Full Trailer for 70T Tank Transporter equipped with an Advanced Hydraulic Suspension System. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the Indian Army's operational capabilities through fully indigenous, next-generation solutions aligned with the Government of India 's "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" vision to achieve self-reliance in critical defence technologies, BEML said in a release.

BEML-DRDO pact: To develop key mobility systems for Army; boost to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat' in defence sector
BEML Limited has signed three licensing agreements with the Defence Research and Development Organisation 's vehicles research and development establishment (VRDE) to manufacture critical support and mobility systems for the army's armoured corps, the state-run company said on Monday. Under the deal, Bharat Earth Movers Limited will indigenously produce the unit maintenance vehicle (UMV) and unit repair vehicle (URV) for the MBT Arjun tank, as well as a 70-tonne tank transporter trailer featuring an advanced hydraulic suspension system. The agreements were formally handed over by Samir V Kamat, secretary, department of defence R&D and chairman, DRDO, to Sanjay Som, director (mining & construction), BEML Ltd., during a ceremony held at VRDE in Ahmednagar on 7 June. The event was attended by G Ramamohana Rao, director, VRDE, Prateek Kishor, director general (armament and combat engineering), along with senior DRDO scientists and industry representatives. BEML, in a statement, called the collaboration a key step forward in boosting army's operational strength with fully indigenous, next-generation systems. The company further added that the move is in line with the government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at achieving self-reliance in vital defence technologies. DRDO transfers 9 technologies to industrial firms for production of defence vehicles
In line with the government's vision to establish a robust defence industrial ecosystem with the participation of both public and private sectors, the Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), a DRDO laboratory located in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar, has taken a major step forward by transferring technologies of nine systems to 10 industries, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence on Sunday. The licensing agreements were handed over in the presence of Secretary, Defence R&D and DRDO Chairman, Dr Samir V. Kamat, during an event organised at the VRDE. The technologies transferred to the industry include: Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Recce Vehicle (Tracked) Mk-II to public sector defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited, a Mounted Gun System to the private sector company Bharat Forge Limited, and an Anti-Terrorist Vehicle - Tracked Version to Metaltech Motor Bodies Private Limited. The others in the list are: Full Trailer of 70t Tank Transporter for Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun Mk-1A to four companies, including BEML Limited, Tata International Vehicle Applications, SDR Auto Private Limited and John Galt International; an Expandable Mobile Shelter to Bharat Electronics Limited; Vajra-Riot Control Vehicle to Tata Advanced Systems Limited; Unit Maintenance Vehicle for MBT Arjun to BEML Limited; and a Multi-Purpose Decontamination System to Dass Hitachi Limited and Goma Engineering Private Limited are the other technologies on the list that have been transferred, according to the official statement. The VRDE also signed an MoU with COEP Technological University, Pune, to jointly work on cutting-edge technologies and emerging areas. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kamat complimented DRDO and the industry for the exceptional performance of indigenous systems during Operation Sindoor. He also suggested that the industry plan for surge capacity. He appreciated the efforts of the VRDE in providing high-end technological solutions for land systems and weapon platforms. Distinguished scientist and Director General, Armament and Combat Engineering Cluster, DRDO, Prof (Dr) Prateek Kishore, VRDE Director, G. BEML shares soar 22% in three days as Q4 earnings impress the D-Street
Shares of state-owned BEML Ltd have rallied 22% over the past three trading sessions, to a high of Rs 4,437.95, hit today, buoyed by its Q4 results that impressed the Street. The mining and heavy equipment manufacturer reported an 11.9% year-on-year rise in consolidated profit to Rs 287.55 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2025. The company's revenue for the January–March quarter also saw an uptick, climbing to Rs 1,656.36 crore from Rs 1,518.25 crore a year ago. The market responded positively to this consistent operational performance, propelling the stock sharply higher. For the full financial year, BEML posted a marginal rise in profit to Rs 292.52 crore, up from Rs 281.77 crore in FY24. However, annual revenue declined slightly to Rs 4,045.95 crore from Rs 4,096.56 crore in the previous fiscal. BEML Limited, formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited, is a public sector undertaking (PSU) that specialises in the manufacturing of heavy equipment for mining, construction, defence, and rail/metro sectors. BEML Q4 net profit rises 12% to ₹287.55 crore, revenue up 9% YoY
BEML Limited, formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited, reported an 11.97 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in profit after tax to ₹287.55 crore for the fourth quarter of financial year 2024–25. The company had posted a profit of ₹256.80 crore in the same quarter last year. The public sector undertaking's (PSU's) revenue from operations rose 9.18 per cent YoY to ₹1,652.53 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to ₹1,513.65 crore in Q4 FY24. Total income for the quarter stood at ₹1,656.67 crore, up 9 per cent from ₹1,518.52 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. In an exchange filing, BEML disclosed that it has advanced ₹73.76 crore to the MAMC consortium—formed with Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)—for acquiring specified assets of Mining & Allied Machinery Corporation Ltd (MAMC), which is under liquidation. BEML holds a 48 per cent stake in the consortium. Additionally, a subsidiary, MAMC Industries Ltd, was incorporated for the intended joint venture, to which BEML has advanced ₹605.38 crore. Investment in Section 8 company BEML also reported an investment in System Testing and Research for Advanced Materials Foundations, incorporated as a Section 8 Company under the Companies Act, 2013, on 18 September 2024. The group invested ₹61.25 lakh, representing 61,250 equity shares of ₹100 each. Of these, 20,000 shares have been allotted to BEML. The remaining 41,250 shares, pending allotment, have been recorded as other non-current financial assets in the company's books.
