Six held over Bedworth violent disorder
Six people including three teenage boys have been arrested in connection with police inquiries into violent disorder.A man who received hospital treatment for a head injury was since recovering at home following an incident on Pine Tree Road and Regent Street in Bedworth at about 19:20 BST on Friday, Warwickshire Police said. Three boys from Bedworth aged 15, 16 and 17, a 25-year-old man from Nuneaton and a 45-year-old Coventry man were all arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.A 42-year-old woman from Bedworth was held on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and violent disorder. They have all been bailed pending further inquiries. A number of weapons including a knuckle duster and a knife have been recovered from a white Audi as part of the investigation. Det Con Jon Shand said: "We're aware this event may have caused some community concern on Friday evening, but would like to reassure residents it is currently being treated as an isolated incident." Redditch arsonist jailed for Henley-in-Arden coach depot fire
An arsonist who caused a fire which damaged a number of vehicles at a coach depot has been White, 29, from Redditch, was sentenced over a blaze at Johnsons Coaches on Liveridge Hill, Henley-in-Arden, in the early hours of 4 Police said five coaches and six cars parked at the site caught had denied arson, but was found guilty at Warwick Crown Court on Monday and was sentenced to 45 months in prison. Tolkien inspires naming of four peregrine falcons
Down the riders came, tearing down from the mountains of Mordor, through Rohan to the Shire - and there they found Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam. OK, it might not have gone exactly like that but those are the four names which have been chosen for the peregrine falcon chicks hatched this year at Leamington Town Hall. Warwickshire Wildlife Trust invited people to share their ideas for the three females and one male before putting them to a final vote (Sauron was barred from voting). More than 900 took part in the poll and the Lord of the Rings-themed names emerged victorious, named after JRR Tolkien's hobbits. Other suggestions included the sky and stars as well as names with connections to Leamington - but ultimately, the trust said, the Middle-Earth theme was a "clear favourite". A spokesperson added that the names were submitted by Natasha and Charmain and Charmain added: "The Lord of the Rings is a British classic and these four little ones will soon wander." A live video feed continues to monitor the peregrines' progress after the chicks hatched at the end of April, at the Grade II listed town hall. 'Padel will grow if it becomes a spectator sport'

British number three Tia Norton is among eight women who have been selected in the Great Britain squad for the Euro Padel Cup in Madrid next month. Advertisement The 21-year-old, from Leamington Spa, said: "Bigger tournaments are gradually being played in the UK, but if we can get a premier padel event, which is the highest ranked tournament, that will be a really big moment for the sport here". "At the end of the day you need money in the sport to make it bigger, so I think that would be a big step." Norton is also aware of the limited training facilities in the Midlands and the game's rising cost. "To install padel courts, get planning permission, to get everything around building padel centres is very very expensive, I think the courts themselves are a minimum of £15,000," she said. Advertisement She added the Lawn Tennis Association had "taken right steps" to help implement more facilities, but there needed to be "a better way to get padel courts into deprived areas and make it accessible to everyone". Art gallery and museum temporarily closed
A town's Art Gallery and Museum has been temporarily closed due to ''unforeseen circumstances'' relating to roof repairs. Recent weather impacted a multi-million pound project to restore the Grade II listed Royal Pump Rooms building in Leamington Spa, Warwick District Council said. A statement on the gallery's Facebook page said it had shut as a ''precautionary measure'' for the safety of visitors and staff. It said the closure was necessary due to the "ongoing complexities" of essential roof repairs, "made more challenging by recent and forecast heavy rainfall". The closure, which has been ongoing since 29 May, means the opening of the gallery's latest exhibition, A Different View: Women Artists in the collection, has been postponed. A spokesperson said a further update would be provided on Wednesday. A crane is being used to remove air-handling units from the building's roof before ''critical repairs'' the council said would preserve the "iconic building for generations to come''. The Royal Pump Rooms, in the town centre, houses a museum, library, café and visitor information centre and is "an integral part" of the town's history, the local authority has said. The library and cafe remain accessible to the public. The council had originally said the building would stay open for business despite being covered in scaffolding.
