24-year-old Hyderabad techie targeted with rape threats, obscene videos on social media; cyberstalking case registered
HYDERABAD: A 24-year-old information technology (IT) professional from Allapur was targeted by unidentified offenders on Instagram and X. On her complaint, the Cyberabad police have registered a case on the charges of cyberstalking. The victim, who works for a Hafeezpet-based software company, began receiving threatening messages in April 2024. According to her, the harassment intensified by April-end, with the offenders sending abusive messages from various handles on Instagram and X. "They were issuing rape and acid attack threats, circulating morphed obscene videos, and disseminating defamatory rumours about her family," a Cyber Crime officer said. In her complaint, the woman alleged that the offenders collected her personal data from various job portals and social media platforms and wrote negative emails to her human resources department in an attempt to jeopardise her career. The victim claimed that due to one such email, she had to give clarification to the HR manager. "We are in the process of identifying the accused by collecting their details from social media platforms and email domains to trace their digital footprints," the police said.

Telangana Teachers' Eligibility Test to be held from June 18
The Telangana Teachers' Eligibility Test (TGTET)-June 2025, scheduled to be held for nine days across 16 sessions, will begin on Wednesday. With 66 centres in 15 districts, the computer-based test will be organised for paper-1 (candidates wanting to teach classes 1 to 5) and paper-2 (candidates wanting to teach classes 6 to 8). In all, 1,83,653 applicants have registered for the test and a majority — 1,20,392 candidates — were for paper-2. The test will be held from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., and conclude on June 30. Director of School Education Department, E. Naveen Nicolas, who is also the chairperson of TGTET, stated that all arrangements have been made to conduct the test in a smooth and fair manner. The department's helpline numbers for candidates are: 7093958881, 7093468882, 7093708883 and 7093708884. Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police prohibit the assembly of five or more persons within 200-metre radius of the examination centres in the commissionerate limits. The order, issued by the Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, the restrictions will remain in force from 6 a.m. on June 18 to 6 p.m. on June 30.

Tension in Telangana district after vehicles with animal carcasses set on fire
Tension prevailed in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district late Sunday night after two vehicles allegedly transporting animal carcasses were intercepted and set on fire by suspected members of a cow protection group. The incident took place near Hyderabad in Lakshmi Guda, Vambe area under Mailardevpally division, located in the southwestern part of the to local sources, residents alerted the police after the vehicles were stopped and torched. Police personnel responded promptly and informed the fire department. Firefighters brought the blaze under control before it could spread the aftermath, members of the Muslim community staged a protest outside the Mailardevpally Police Station, demanding action and expressing concern over the growing communal tension in the Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty visited the police station in the early hours of Monday. Speaking to the media, he said: 'We had an incident where animal carcasses were being carried in two vehicles. A group of people attacked the driver and they tried to set fire to the vehicle. Immediately the police received information and reached the spot. They immediately dispersed the crowd. Some of the people involved in the clash were taken into custody. People who suffered injuries were shifted to hospital for treatment. A complaint has been taken and investigation has begun. The situation is peaceful now. Prohibitory orders for AP's Mega DSC 2025 examination centres
In view of the Mega DSC 2025 examinations of Andhra Pradesh, the Cyberabad police issued prohibitory orders around examination centres falling under its jurisdiction. The order, issued by the Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, prohibit the assembly of five or more persons within a 200-metre radius of all designated exam centres. The order will remain in force from June 6 to June 30, during the examination hours. In addition, all photocopy and internet centres within a 100-metre radius of the exam centres will also remain closed throughout the examination period. The directive is aimed at preventing potential disturbances, unauthorised activities, or any attempt to disrupt the smooth conduct of the recruitment tests. However, certain personnel are exempt from the order, including police officers, military personnel, home guards on duty, flying squads from the Education Department, and funeral processions. The official cautioned that any violation of the prohibitory orders will attract legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
