Dominique Thorne Teases Ironheart's Possible Return in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS — GeekTyrant
Dominique Thorne isn't officially on the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars … yet, but the Ironheart star just dropped a sly hint that Riri Williams may be suiting up alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes after all. In a recent chat with The Direct, Thorne was asked point-blank about her potential return in Marvel's upcoming mega-event films. She didn't confirm anything outright, MCU actors are famously trained to keep quite, but her response was telling: 'Oh, you know, what can I say? The odds might be in our favor. Who knows? We'll see. We'll see.' Fans have been wondering how, or if, the Disney+ characters will play into the multiversal madness. So far, the official Doomsday cast is light on streaming heroes, even as rumors swirl with names like Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Billy Maximoff in the mix. It seems only a matter of time before Marvel pulls the trigger on the next-gen team-up… whether it's Young Avengers aka The Champions. With Ironheart finally gearing up for release, Riri Williams could be being set for a big leap from solo armor-builder to universe-saving genius. Thorne also commented on the show's new trailer and the unexpected fusion of tech and mysticism at play: 'I think we've got little tastes and teases of that previously. Throughout, you know, the phases that have led us here. But this, absolutely, to me, feels like new territory in terms of how tech and magic can merge, how they can work together, how they might clash.' That blend could make Riri a key player in the coming cosmic-scale conflicts. After all, if Secret Wars follows the comics even loosely, a Stark-level mind fused with magical tech will fit right into the story Marvel wants to tell. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Both are in the hands of Joe and Anthony Russo, returning to the MCU after delivering some of the biggest hits in franchise history. The Russos shared after their SDCC panel: 'Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We're thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves.' It will be interesting to see if Riri Williams does show up in the next Avengers movies. There's a lot more characters that have yet to be announced, so it is possible.

Top 7 most expensive movies ever made — From Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Avengers Endgame
Directors go the extra mile to give the audience a visual extravaganza. Be it the sci-fi genre or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these movies have not only shattered box-office records but have also gone on to become the most expensive films ever made. Motive: all to ensure that fans get the experience of a lifetime. As per IGN, these projects are the most expensive blockbusters ever made. JJ Abrams made the Star Wars franchise the favourite of a new generation of fans with The Force Awakens. The 2015 film brought back iconic characters such as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). The film also marked the entry of characters like Kylo Ren, Rey and Finn. Chris Pratt's 2018 installment in the long-running dinosaur movie franchise managed to grab attention with its CGI effects and bloodthirsty prehistoric creatures. The movie was made on a budget of $432 million. The final movie of the new Star Wars trilogy, the massive budget of The Rise of Skywalker, revolved around the Resistance members facing off against the First Order once again. The movie starred Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Issac in pivotal roles. This was the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. But the massive budget and Johnny Depp's chemistry with Penelope Cruz kept the movie in the headlines. The movie had a budget of $379 million. The second movie to feature the six original Avengers together, Age of Ultron was one of the most expensive movies in the franchise. The film starred Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth, among others. Be it Tony Stark's ultimate sacrifice to win against Thanos or the 'I love you 3000' dialogue, this movie remains the high point of the Avengers franchise for many fans. The massive scale of the project and the star-studded cast created a film that Marvel fans would remember for ages. James Cameron is best known for big-budget movies like the Titanic and the Avatar franchise. The second part of the series, The Way of Water, was mounted on an equally large scale as the first part. Avatar: The Way of Water later became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, earning $2.3 billion globally. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the most expensive movie ever made, with a budget of $447 million. Avatar (2009) by James Cameron is the highest-grossing movie of all time. JJ Abrams made the most expensive film in the world with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Marvel Just Added a *Fourth* Movie to Its 2028 Plans
Marvel's been having a pretty quiet time at the box office as of late, as it prepares to head into a new Avengers duology to cap off its latest, up-and-down era in a pretty subdued manner. 2025 may have 3 MCU movies to its name (and a host of TV projects), but after Fantastic Four: First Steps, just four movies will release across 2026 and 2027. But once the dust settles on Secret Wars? Marvel Studios is cranking things back up. Variety reports that Disney has now dated a fourth untitled Marvel theatrical release to its 2028 slate, slotting in at December 15, 2028, and joining untitled projects already set for February, May, and November of that year. As much as 2028 already doesn't feel like a real year at this point, a year with four films that don't have titles or even franchises attached to them yet feels even faker. But at the very least the commitment in the here and now suggests that, after spending a few years acknowledging that Marvel may have faltered by trying to pump out so many series and films in the wake of Infinity War, the studio wants to do exactly that once more once Avengers: Secret Wars rolls out in December 2027 and the seventh 'phase' of the MCU kicks off in earnest. We're still going to be in that quieter phase for the next few years though. Once First Steps releases next month, the next Marvel movie will arrive in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, currently set for a July 2026 slot, followed by Avengers: Doomsday in December that same year. 2027 is currently slated similarly, with a currently untitled project set for July, and the aforementioned Secret Wars in December. That is, of course, not counting any potential streaming TV projects that are currently in the works, like more seasons of X-Men '97, Daredevil: Born Again, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, as well as series like Wonder Man, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Vision Quest. There's still going to be a lot of Marvel, it's just that not much of it will be on the big screen. As to what those 2028 films might end up being, it's perhaps not too out of the realm of possibility to suspect that one of them might be the MCU's long-awaited debut of the X-Men, with Thunderbolts' Jake Schreier currently tapped to bring mutantkind to the big screen once more. We know Black Panther 3 is in the works, so that might not be out of the question, and Variety's report also casually makes note that a sequel to Fantastic Four: First Steps is also now in development, so it's possible we could see Marvel's first family return in 2028 too. Hell, maybe one of them might end up being Blade. Mahershala Ali can dream, right?

28 Years Later movie review: Danny Boyle's zombie film will make you cry with Alfie Williams' performance for the ages
Three films released in theatres this week - Pixar's story on loneliness (Elio), Aamir Khan sharing the screen with special needs actors (Sitaare Zameen Par), and Danny Boyle's return to zombie apocalypse (28 Years Later). And I can bet my soul nobody could have guessed the last one would be the most emotionally-charged tearjerker of the three. (Also read: Sitaare Zameen Par movie review: Aamir Khan's heartwarming film stumbles, then soars to score a basket in the 2nd half) Right from its promotions to its trailer, and even the way 28 Years Later opens, the Danny Boyle film is full of misdirections. We have been led to believe that it is an action-packed zombie horror led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, he of Avengers and Kraven fame (that last one may not be the perfect thing on the resume). But the film is far from that. Yes, there is a post-apocalyptic society. Yes, there are zombies. And yes, there is tons of fighting and running around. But 28 Years Later is an emotional coming-of-age drama, disguised as horror. At its heart is 14-year-old Alfie Williams, who delivers a performance they will talk about for years, perhaps decades. As the title suggests, 28 Years Later is set 28 years after the events of the first two films of the franchise. Britain is a quarantine zone, overrun by the undead. The US and Europe seem to be thriving. But just off the coast of the Scottish Highlands, a band of survivors has built their safe haven on an island. It is connected to the mainland by a causeway only accessible during low tide. Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) takes his 12-year-old son Spike (Alfie Williams) to the mainland to show him the ropes. But Alfie discovers that his father has lied about many things, including the presence of a doctor. The 12-year-old decides to return with his sick mother, Isla (Jodie Comer), and ask the mysterious Dr Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) for a cure. All this while, he must navigate his own inexperience, his mother's hallucinations, and waves of the undead. 28 Years Later begins on a disjointed note, and the initial setup does test your patience. But technically, the film hooks you in really quickly. The cinematography by Anthony Dod Mantle and that haunting score from Young Fathers is brilliant. Mantle, in particular, brings the soul of the franchise back, merging it with a very Alex Garland-like visual style (the filmmaker is the writer here). The end result is an almost graphic novel-like work of art that may be abstract at times, but visually engaging at all times. The score is a delicious cherry on top. It may have been billed as a zombie horror, but 28 Years Later has less than 20 on-screen deaths during its near-2-hour runtime. The focus is more on survival, and Spike's crusade to find a cure for his dying mother. He is not afraid to fight back against his flawed father and even engage in some light arson to get his way. Alfie Williams is a star, one I hope gives us these performances for years to come. If Bella Ramsey was already setting the bar high for child actors in horror and fantasy shows, Alfie is taking it through the stratosphere here. Even in scenes with the legendary Ralph Fiennes, the 14-year-old steals the show, a marvellous achievement for someone that young and inexperienced. There is a scene right before the climax of the film where the young Spike must come to terms with mortality for the first time. It is a touching sequence, filmed with minimal background score and punctuated by Alfie Williams' breaths. Just how beautifully Danny Boyle has managed it was evident by the pin-drop silence in the packed Mumbai theatre where I watched the film. The only blemish on the film is the bizarre final sequence, where Boyle brings his Trainspotting goofiness in a Tarantino-esque fight sequence that honestly feels a bit out of place in this film. But that can be overlooked for 110 minutes of classic cinema. If Nosfearatu brought back good old noir back to horror, Sinners married the genre with musical in a stunning experiment. And now, 28 Years Later brings a coming-of-age tale in the genre. That is three films pushing the envelope in the genre in the space of six months. The golden age of noveau horror is certainly on in Hollywood!
