Man facing abduction charge in Austintown
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – An Austintown man is facing abduction and domestic violence charges following an incident with a woman last week.
The woman told police that Austin Chace, 32, grabbed her by the hair and then forced her into a vehicle after she tried to break up with him on May 12. She said Chace told her that he was going to kill her and that the only way she was leaving was in a body bag, according to a police report.
The report states that a person in the neighborhood witnessed the incident and that Chace begged the person not to call police before leaving in a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Police did receive a call two days later, but said officers were unable to locate the vehicle or suspect at that time, the report stated.
The alleged victim of the assault went to the police station on May 14 to report that it was the first time that she was able to get away from Chace. She showed police videos of Chace threatening to kill her, as well as photographs of damage she said Chace caused to her vehicle, according to the report.
Officers arrested Chace at a location on Idaho Road on Sunday. He faces a felony abduction charge, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and criminal damaging.
He was scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on Monday afternoon.
