Habagat, LPA's trough, easterlies to bring scattered rains over PH
Batanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains due to the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) as the southwest monsoon or Habagat and easterlies bring scattered rains over the western section of Northern Luzon and the rest of the country on Friday, PAGASA reported. As of 2 a.m., the weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Auring has weakened into an LPA and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It has an "unlikely" chance of redeveloping into a Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 hours. Batanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA as flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Ilocos Region and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms. The wind speed forecast for northern and western sections of Northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction as coastal waters will be moderate to rough. The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southeast to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters. Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to southeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters. LPA, Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over Luzon
A low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring rains over parts of Luzon on Monday, according to PAGASA's weather forecast. Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides. Pangasinan will have rains measuring 50 to 100 mm today, according to PAGASA's 5 a.m. heavy rainfall outlook. The LPA was estimated to be located at 3 a.m. Monday at 85 km west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union or 255 km northwest of Baler, Aurora, according to PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina. "Posible pa rin itong maging bagyo sa mga susunod na araw," Badrina said. (There is a possibility it can become a tropical depression in the next few days.) The LPA has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next few days. If it does intensify into a tropical depression while inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it will be called Auring and will be the first tropical cyclone in the country for 2025. "Kikilos ito pakanluran papalayo sa kalupaan ng ating bansa," he said, adding it will exit PAR in the next few days. (It will move westward away from the country's landmass.) Badrina said the weather disturbance may affect the Southwest Monsoon. Habagat Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the rest of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao today. Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique may expect occasional rains that are moderate to heavy, measuring 50 to 100 mm. Flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Metro Manila, Bicol Region, and the rest of Visayas, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides. Mindanao on the other hand will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
