Sunjay was beaming in the image, as he stood hugging Jaisal Singh - the captain of Sujan Indian Tigers, reports the Mirror. "Today we play the final of the Cartier Trophy in the memory of our dear friend Sunjay Kapur who tragically passed away on the field a few days ago," the Sujan Indian Tigers post read. "Our Captain and Patron, Jaisal Singh, will mount up with the team to observe a minute's silence in honour of his dear old friend Sunjay, and then sit out as a mark of respect," they added. "This photograph of Sunjay and Jaisal was taken moments before they mounted up to play the semi-finals a few days ago." Despite his privileged upbringing, Sunjay carved out a successful career for himself, turning his business into a key player in the electric vehicle sector. His prowess on the polo field saw him rubbing shoulders with high society and even royalty. His participation in a polo match with Prince William stirred controversy during his first marriage to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, who accused him of neglecting their sick infant son to play the game with the future monarch. "(Sunjay) decided to carry on, leaving me behind to take care of our sick four-month-old son, just to play a Polo match with Prince William. I also realised that he had married me only because I was a famous and successful film star, which would facilitate him to be reported in the press. "It came as a surprise that he always wanted to be known in public and be famous, but since he never did any deed worth mentioning, he was not able to garner any attention," Kapoor revealed about her ex-husband. Tragically, while playing polo, it is believed that Kapur was stung by a bee in his mouth, which may have led to anaphylactic shock and ultimately caused his heart to stop.

Prince William's friend Sunjay Kapur dies after heart attack ‘triggered by swallowing a bee' at polo match
Prince William's friend and Aureus polo team owner, Sunjay Kapur, has died after having a heart attack during a polo match. Guards Polo Club issued a statement about Kapur's death Friday on Instagram, noting he died 'after becoming unwell when playing in a match at Smith's Lawn' in Windsor. On Thursday, he was playing for the Sujan Indian Tigers polo team in the Cartier Trophy Semi-Finals when he fell ill. 'The Club sends its deepest condolences to his wife, Priya Sachdev, his children, the wider Kapur family and his Aureus team-mates,' the organization wrote in the caption. His death was also confirmed by Sona Comstar, where Kapur worked as Chairman and Non-Executive Director. The automotive company noted that the 53-year-old died 'of a sudden heart attack' on Thursday. However, the heart attack was reportedly triggered by a freak accident. According to The Mirror, a bee stung Kapur in the mouth during the polo match, sending him into anaphylactic shock, before his heart stopped. He then collapsed on Smith's Lawn, according to the outlet. A witness told The Telegraph that before he collapsed, Kapur said: 'I've swallowed something.' Anaphylactic shock is a type of anaphylaxis, 'a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction,' according to the Mayo Clinic. When someone goes into shock due to anaphylaxis, their 'blood pressure drops suddenly and the airways narrow, blocking breathing.' A friend of Kapur also issued a statement about the businessman's death to Telegraph Sport, saying: 'He will be greatly missed not only by his family and friends but the local community around his club as he employed so many people and made so many friends – he was fun, kind and generous.' 'He didn't distinguish between his grooms or high net worth friends – when he had a party, everyone was invited and everyone was equal.' In 2015, Kapur inherited Sona Comstar from his father, Dr. Surinder Kapur, who founded the company in 1987. Sona Comstar has nine factories spread across India, China, Mexico, Serbia, and the U.S., according to Forbes. The publication also noted that Sunjay Kapur had an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion. Sona Comstar also paid tribute to Kapur in its statement, writing: 'A visionary leader, Mr. Kapur played a pivotal role in shaping Sona Comstar into a global mobility technology company built on innovation, sustainability, and purpose. His passion, foresight, and relentless commitment to excellence inspired everyone who had the privilege of working with him.' An avid polo player, Kapur was known to play with members of the British royal family, including Prince William. The team Kapur owned, Aureus Polo, also paid tribute, calling him the 'life and soul' of the team. Kapur was married to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016. The pair welcomed two children, Samaira, 20, and Kiaan, 14. In 2017, he married model Priya Sachdev, and they welcomed a son, Azarias, 7. Only hours before his death, Kapur issued an emotional statement on X about the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that killed all but one of the 242 passengers onboard. 'Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad," he wrote on X. "My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.' The Independent has contacted a representative for Prince William and the Guards Polo Club for comment.

Sunjay Kapur, Businessman and Ex-Husband of Bollywood Star, Dies at 53
Sunjay Kapur, a prominent Indian businessman and the former husband of the Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor, died on Thursday after participating in a polo match in Windsor, England. He was 53. The cause was a 'sudden heart attack,' Sona Comstar, an automotive components manufacturer based in India, where Mr. Kapur was the chairman, said in a statement. Guards Polo Club said on Instagram on Friday that Mr. Kapur had been playing in a match on its Smith's Lawn when he appeared to become unwell. A wealthy industrialist and the owner of the Aureus polo team, Mr. Kapur had traveled to England to compete in polo matches this summer. Guards Polo Club is known for its close association with Britain's royal family: its current president is King Charles III, who succeeded his father, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Prince William is a regular. Mr. Kapur took over leadership of Sona Comstar, an automotive company founded by his father, Surinder Kapur, in 2015 and helped drive its expansion as a global supplier of automotive components and systems for electric vehicles and other types of cars. Based in Gurugram, India, just southwest of New Delhi, the company has more than 4,600 employees and factories across India, China, Mexico and the United States. In a social media post on Thursday, Mr. Kapur paid tribute to the victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, India, that killed more than 250 people. In 2003, Mr. Kapur married Karisma Kapoor, one of the leading Bollywood actresses at the time, in a Sikh ceremony in Mumbai that received breathless coverage from local news outlets and tabloids. The couple had a daughter, Samaira, and a son, Kiaan. The couple divorced in 2016. A previous marriage to Nandita Mahtani, an Indian fashion designer, also ended in divorce. Mr. Kapur married Priya Sachdev, a model, in 2017. She survives him along with their son, Azarias. His other survivors include a daughter, Samaira, and a son, Kiaan, from his marriage to Ms. Kapoor. Sunjay Kapur was born on Oct. 15, 1971. He attended schools in India and held a degree from the University of Buckingham. The Doon School, a boarding school in Dehradun, India, that he attended as a child, said on social media that Mr. Kapur had held positions on its governor's board and other committees. 'A passionate fitness and sport enthusiast and a learner for life, he worked to make polo more accessible beyond its traditional roots,' the school said.

It was initially reported by witnesses that he was heard to have said 'I've swallowed something', prompting assumptions he may have swallowed a bee.
