Pink Floyd's Classic Albums Return To The Charts Together
Pink Floyd charts multiple albums this week in the U.K., with At Pompeii returning to No. 1 and The ... More Dark Side of the Moon back in the top 10. (MANDATORY CREDIT Koh Hasebe/) Pink Floyd live at Hakone Aphrodite, Kanagawa, August 6, 1971. (Photo by Koh Hasebe/) Quite a few legendary rock bands manage to remain on the charts in Western markets thanks to one compilation or a generation-defining successful album, but the number of acts able to do so with more than one collection at a time, on any consistent basis, is much smaller. Pink Floyd is included in that elite group. The pioneering rock outfit frequently places multiple releases on the rankings in the United Kingdom at the same time, and this frame is no exception to that trend. Several of the band's titles return in what has turned out to be a very busy moment for Pink Floyd in the country where the musicians who make up the act got their start. Two Pink Floyd classics rock their way onto one ranking apiece in the U.K. The Wall reenters the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart at No. 34, which is its sole placement this week. Wish You Were Here already appears on that tally, and this frame, it shoots up more than 10 spaces, jumping from No. 30 to No. 17. At the same time, it also reappears on the Official Albums Download chart, returning at No. 77. As is often the case, The Dark Side of the Moon remains Pink Floyd's most successful project in the U.K. — at least in terms of the number of rankings it can be found on. This frame, the classic collection rises on three tallies, even managing to reenter the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart's top 10, as it surges to No. 9. The only list where it slips slightly is the Official Albums Download chart — which is, interestingly, where Wish You Were Here reappears. Pink Floyd's most recent release, At Pompeii - MCMLXXII, is still doing very well a month into its run on the U.K. charts. The set gains ground on three tallies, returning to the top 20 on two of them and climbing back to the summit on the Official Rock & Metal Albums roster for another turn in the spotlight. Last week, the live effort sat in third place on the rock-only tally, but now it rockets back to the throne, earning its second stint at No. 1 in just the five frames it has spent somewhere on the genre-specific roster.

Pink Floyd Rocks Back To No. 1
Pink Floyd's At Pompeii reclaims the No. 1 spot on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, becoming ... More one of the band's few multi-week U.K. chart-toppers. LONDON - JULY 02: (L to R) David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Rick Wright from the band Pink Floyd on stage at "Live 8 London" in Hyde Park on July 2, 2005 in London, England. The free concert is one of ten simultaneous international gigs including Philadelphia, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Barrie, Tokyo, Cornwall, Moscow and Johannesburg. The concerts precede the G8 summit (July 6-8) to raising awareness for MAKEpovertyHISTORY. (Photo by) Pink Floyd is back in charge of an albums ranking in the United Kingdom, the country where the pioneering group got its start. The band recently scored a new No. 1 album with At Pompeii - MCMLXXII, and now, a month after the set debuted, it has returned to the summit. With another moment in the spotlight, the collection becomes one of a very small number of projects from the rock outfit to rack up multiple frames atop the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. At Pompeii jumps from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, the U.K.'s ranking of the bestselling titles in those genres. Pink Floyd replaces Saviors by Green Day, which also enjoyed another turn in the lead slot just a few days ago after its deluxe edition was issued. At Pompeii has now spent five weeks on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, two of which have been at No. 1. As it returns to the peak position, the live recording becomes Pink Floyd's third title to lead for more than one frame. It joins The Dark Side of the Moon (32 weeks) and The Endless River (seven). Four other projects by the band — Animals, The Division Bell, The Early Years – 1965–1972, and Transmissions + 1969 — all managed just a single turn ruling the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. At Pompeii also climbs on both the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales charts this week. The set jumps to Nos. 14 and 15, respectively, after previously taking a turn at No. 1. As is typically the case, Pink Floyd sees multiple albums appear on the charts in the U.K. The Dark Side of the Moon is present on the most tallies, as it takes up space on four rosters and largely climbs on them, including returning to the top 10 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums ranking. Wish You Were Here lands on a pair, and The Wall reenters the Official Rock & Metal Albums list, giving the group control over 10% of that tally.

Pink Floyd Reaches A Landmark Number With Its Latest Bestseller
Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii debuts at No. 3 on the Top Album Sales chart, becoming the band's tenth ... More top 10 on the tally and its latest U.S. chart success. LOS ANGELES - AUGUST 1968: Psychedelic rock group Pink Floyd pose for a portrait shrouded in pink in August of 1968 in Los Angeles. (L-R) Nick Mason, Dave Gilmour, Rick Wright (center front), Roger Waters. (Photo by Michael) Pink Floyd returns to the Billboard rankings in the U.S. this week, as At Pompeii - MCMLXXII opens on five tallies. The project launches inside the top 10 on all but one of those lists, as it was fueled by strong sales tied to the band's recently re-released concert film of the same name. It's not surprising that At Pompeii enjoys a lofty starting point, as Pink Floyd remains one of the bestselling groups of all time. The rock outfit can still move a massive number of units whenever a new release drops. The group reaches toward the top of one special ranking with At Pompeii, as the band nearly captures another No. 1. The set sold a little more than 20,100 copies across the U.S. in its first seven days of availability, according to Luminate. That sum is enough to place the title at No. 3 on the Top Album Sales chart. That list, published by Billboard weekly, ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the country, regardless of genre or format. At Pompeii starting in third place earns Pink Floyd its milestone tenth top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart. The group has sent 21 different projects to the tally, which means that as of this frame, just under half have reached the uppermost region. Two of those efforts — The Division Bell and Pulse — hit No. 1. The former reached the summit in mid-1994 and held for four weeks, while Pulse opened in first place in June 1995 and led for just one frame. Some of the band's other highest-ranking efforts include Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, which peaked at No. 2, and several releases that reached No. 3, such as The Endless River, Animals, and now At Pompeii. Pink Floyd's latest release also lands inside the top 10 on the Vinyl Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts. It misses the throne on the first two by just one space. On the Top Rock & Alternative Albums roster, it matches its performance on the Top Album Sales list, debuting at No. 3.

Pink Floyd Misses Its First No. 1 Album By One Space
Pink Floyd returns to the Billboard charts with a brand new album this week. Not a traditional studio collection, but a live set that has become a global bestseller. At Pompeii - MCMLXXII is buoyed by the success of the concert film of the same name, which was re-released in theaters earlier this year and raked in millions of dollars at the box office. The performance proved that the English band still not only commands a sizable fanbase around the world, but can also generate income and major wins in the busy entertainment world with older material. At Pompeii debuts on five Billboard charts this week. It nearly earns the group a new No. 1 on several tallies, but misses the top spot by just one frustrating space on multiple lists. Despite being widely recognized as one of the most influential and bestselling rock bands of all time, Pink Floyd has never reached No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart. Of course, the list was introduced long after the band's initial burst of creative and commercial power, but it's still rather surprising that the legendary act has never scored a leader on any list with the word 'rock' in its title. This frame, At Pompeii opens at No. 2, coming in behind only Stick Season by Noah Kahan. That project returns to the peak position after dipping to No. 2 last frame and celebrates a full year at No. 1. At Pompeii also starts in the runner-up space on the Vinyl Albums chart, which isn't genre-specific, but focuses solely on the format. On that roster, Bad Bunny hits No. 1 thanks to the vinyl reissue of his most recent album Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Pink Floyd has previously topped the Vinyl Albums tally, with both The Wall and The Endless River reaching the summit. Several other collections have peaked in the runner-up space, and that roundup now includes At Pompeii. Pink Floyd's latest offering comes in third place on two other tallies. At Pompeii starts its time on the Top Album Sales and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts at No. 3. It only misses the top 10 on the Billboard 200, where it kicks off at No. 28.

Pink Floyd Barely Misses Its First No. 1 Album On A Chart It's Never Ruled
Pink Floyd's At Pompeii debuts at No. 1 on five U.K. album charts but settles for No. 2 on the ... More Official Album Downloads list behind Andy Bell's Ten Crowns. UNITED KINGDOM - JANUARY 01: Photo of Rick WRIGHT and PINK FLOYD and Syd BARRETT and Roger WATERS; Back L-R: Syd Barrett, Nick Mason. Front L-R: Roger Waters, Rick Wright - posed, group shot (Photo by Andrew Whittuck/Redferns) Pink Floyd storms the charts in the United Kingdom this week with At Pompeii - MCMLXXII, the live album supported by the success of its accompanying concert film, which was recently re-released to theaters. The set debuts on half a dozen tallies in the country this frame, dominating all but one of them, as Pink Floyd couldn't quite beat one other well-known musician — at least when it came to one specific form of consumption. At Pompeii debuts at No. 2 on the Official Album Downloads chart, which ranks the most downloaded titles on platforms like iTunes across the U.K. Pink Floyd comes in just behind Ten Crowns by Andy Bell. While Bell may come out on top on the downloads-only ranking, At Pompeii is a quick winner on seemingly every other list on which it appears. Pink Floyd's current focus starts its time at No. 1 on the Official Albums, Official Albums Sales, Official Physical Albums, Official Vinyl Albums and Official Rock & Metal Albums charts this frame. Amazingly, Pink Floyd has never scored a No. 1 on the Official Album Downloads chart. The band has collected multiple winners across all of the other rankings where At Pompeii debuts, but No. 2 remains the group's high point on this specific list. Pink Floyd reached that position for the first time with The Endless River, which debuted in November 2014. So far, the rockers have collected five top 10s. Bell, best known as the lead singer of the synth-pop band Erasure, has released full-lengths on his own in the past, but Ten Crowns marks a special win for the legendary musician. The full-length enters the Official Albums chart — the ranking of the most consumed projects in the country — at No. 14, earning Bell his first solo placement on that particular roster. At Pompeii, meanwhile, easily conquers that roster. Ten Crowns lands just behind Pink Floyd on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts and also begins its time inside the top 10 on the Official Vinyl Albums list. The project gives the singer-songwriter his first top 10 smash on all of those purchase-only rosters as a soloist.
