Aster DM Healthcare lines up Rs 1,900 crore capex to expand presence
Bengaluru: Aster DM Healthcare has lined up Rs 1,900 crore to expand its hospital network across India. This strategic expansion aims to increase its total bed capacity to 13,600 by the 2026-27 financial year, positioning Aster as one of the top healthcare providers in the country. "The merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India unlocks significant synergies that will drive growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced patient care across the combined network. As part of our expansion strategy in India, the merged entity plans to add 3,300 beds organically. Of these, around 2,100 beds will be added by Aster and the remaining by QCIL. The total capex outlay is Rs 1,878 crore, of which Rs 323 crore was already spent so far in the 2025 fiscal," said Dr Azad Moopen, founder and chairman of Aster DM Healthcare. Of the 2,100 beds planned for Aster's India expansion, Bengaluru will get 939 new beds, including the upcoming hospital on Sarjapur Road, strengthening Aster's position among the city's top three healthcare providers. Moopen said 818 beds will be added in Kerala over the next three years, anchored by two greenfield projects—Aster Kasargod (264 beds) and Trivandrum (454 beds). Aster Volunteers UAE recycles 750 kgs of e-waste in 4th collection drive
To date, the initiative has cumulatively recycled 1,998 kgs of e-waste over the four editions. Partnered with E-Scrappy and engaged Asterians in collecting e-waste from nearby shops and homes, demonstrating community involvement and support. A similar activity has been initiated across Qatar, Oman, KSA and India. 'Legacy will live on': Hundreds gather in Dubai to mourn renowned Indian doctor
Hundreds of people gathered at Al Quoz cemetery late on Sunday to bid farewell to Dr Nazar Moopan, a well-loved member of the medical community and nephew of Dr Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare. Well-wishers and friends flew in from India and other Gulf countries to pay their respects to the doctor who passed away peacefully in Dubai on Sunday, surrounded by his family. 'It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we mourn the passing of Dr Nazar Moopan,' said Dr Azad Moopen. 'Dr Nazar was not only a pillar of our medical community but also a compassionate doctor, a committed leader, and a beloved colleague to many within the Aster family. For over two decades, Dr Nazar has worked at Aster DM Healthcare and at the time of his death, he was the Medical Director and ENT Consultant at the group's facility in Qatar. He is survived by his wife Wahida and his children Neda, Nimmi and Zain. According to Dr Azad, Dr Nazar 'dedicated his life to the service of others' for decades, exemplifying the values of integrity, excellence, and empathy. 'His contributions to healthcare in Qatar have left an indelible mark, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his skill and kindness,' he said.
