Is it legal to park in front of someone else's house in Georgia? What to know to prevent a tow

In neighborhoods across Georgia, it's a common frustration to return home to find an unfamiliar car parked right in front of your house. It's frustrating, especially if it happens often or blocks your view, but is it actually illegal? Usually, no. In most cases, it is not illegal to park on a public street in front of someone else's house in Georgia. According to Georgia law, streets are considered public rights of way, meaning any licensed driver can legally park there, unless specific laws or signs prohibit it. However, according to state Code 40-6-202, it's unlawful for drivers to stop, stand or park a car — attended or otherwise — on a street in a residential area if there's a more practical place to park off the road. Georgia Code 40-6-202 outlines where parking is explicitly prohibited. Drivers are not allowed to stop, stand, or park: On the roadway side of a vehicle that's already parked on the street On sidewalks, crosswalks, or within intersections Between a safety zone and a curb, or within 30 feet of a curb opposite a safety zone Alongside any street excavation that obstructs traffic On bridges, railroad tracks, or controlled-access highways In the area between roads on a divided highway Where signs prohibit parking or stopping In front of a public or private driveway Some neighborhoods governed by Homeowners Associations (HOAs) may have rules that restrict street parking altogether, and violations can lead to fines or other consequences, even if the street is technically public. If your neighbor is hosting a party and their guests are parked in front of your house, there's likely not much you can do, as long as no one is blocking your driveway or violating posted signs or traffic laws. It's legal and permitted on most public streets. If parking on the street is prohibited in a neighborhood or area, the penalty is usually a fine. However, some cities may also enforce towing or booting, according to the Macon Telegraph. Vanessa Countryman is the Trending Topics Reporter for the the Deep South Connect Team Georgia. Why summer transfer window closes today at unusual time and when it reopens

Premier League clubs are facing a slightly different summer this year with two transfer windows having been announced by FIFA with the first deadline on the horizon Premier League clubs have two transfer windows to get major deals over the line this summer. FIFA have confirmed that the transfer window will be split in two for the first time ever. The first window opened on June 1 and will shut on Tuesday, June 10. That decision has given clubs the opportunity to get a number of deals done. ‌ Liverpool and Manchester United have acted by signing Jeremie Frimpong and Matheus Cunha respectively. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have also been busy having made six new signings already. ‌ And the business might not stop there. Manchester City have THREE deals in the pipeline, while Liverpool continue to chase the lucrative signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. But why has the window been changed? Mirror Football has all of the details you need to know… When does the transfer window shut? The first window shuts on Tuesday, June 10, at 7pm BST. That is to allow all relevant federations to be on the same page. The window will reopen on June 16 and will run all the way until September 1, also shutting at 7pm as opposed to the traditional 11pm time. Why has it been done? Basically, it is to allow all of the clubs playing at this summer's Club World Cup to sign some new players ahead of the tournament. It gets underway this weekend. A statement from FIFA confirming the decision read: 'In line with the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ and the relevant amendments to the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, all 20 Member Associations whose clubs will participate in FIFA's groundbreaking competition have confirmed the opening of an exceptional registration window from 1 to 10 June for all their affiliated clubs to allow new players signed to compete in the tournament. ‌ 'The deadline for the final player list has been set as 10 June 2025, allowing each participating club to bring any new players signed in this special window to the United States. ‌ 'The Member Associations concerned are located in: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea Republic, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. 'The Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which were approved by the FIFA Council in October 2024, seek to address technicalities and equalise differences in registration periods and domestic-season timings between participating clubs to the greatest extent possible, while affording flexibility to the Member Associations in question. 'Participating clubs will also be able to replace and add players during a restricted in-competition period from 27 June to 3 July 2025 within a set limit and according to specific limitations, including the fact that a 'standard' registration window must be open for the club at the time. The objective is to encourage clubs and players whose contracts are expiring to find an appropriate solution to facilitate the players' participation. This will ensure that the best players will be playing, allowing clubs to add new recruits even during the tournament.' ‌ What deals have been done? Real Madrid have taken advantage of the window by agreeing a deal to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold early from Liverpool. The Reds have replaced him with Jeremy Frimpong. Meanwhile, Chelsea have been busy, signing Liam Delap among five others. Manchester City are also hoping to seal a host of deals including Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri. Australian sister reflects on graces of jubilee pilgrimage

Traveling more than 10,000 miles to take part in this weekend's Jubilee of Ecclesial Movements, Associations, and New Communities, Sister Therese Mills, MGL, spoke to CNA of her great joy as she joined tens of thousands of other pilgrims in Rome. A leader of the Missionaries of God's Love Sisters, a charismatic Catholic group founded in Australia in 1987, Mills said her pilgrimage to Rome during the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope has been a time of refreshment and renewal. She described the 'amazing' experience of walking through the Jubilee Door of St. Peter's Basilica on Saturday, the first day of the special jubilee dedicated to new Catholic movements and associations. Mills recalled 'just opening my hands and just praying that the Lord would refresh and renew my heart and refresh and renew my faith.' 'The thing that blew me away — and what I loved the most — was we were all on this journey together but everyone was speaking and praying in different languages,' she shared with CNA on Pentecost Sunday. Mills called her visit to the Blessed Sacrament chapel inside the papal basilica a 'God moment' that she will not forget. 'I just sat before Jesus and bawled my eyes out to be honest,' she said with a laugh. 'I was very overwhelmed with his love … the gift of being with him in this place, and with the universal Church.' The approximately 70,000 pilgrims participating in the weekend jubilee had the opportunity to explore different churches in Rome and attend music and entertainment events organized by various ecclesial groups. A few of the hundreds of new Catholic associations taking part in the June jubilee include the Neocatechumenal Way, Catholic Action, Communion and Liberation, the Catholic Shalom Community, the Community of Sant'Egidio, the Focolare Movement, and CHARIS International. During his homily at the Vigil Mass, Pope Leo described the new and diverse Church communities gathered around him as 'the fruits of the Second Vatican Council' who are 'grounded in the one Lord Jesus Christ' entrusted with 'a single mission.' Mills attended both Pope Leo's Pentecost Masses — the Vigil on Saturday night and one on Sunday morning. 'I really love being part of a universal Church, being united as one, and coming together to pray for the Spirit,' Mills said. In the days leading up to the official jubilee festivities, Mills undertook a pilgrimage to holy sites in Rome linked to patron saints of her Australian-based community, including St. Francis of Assisi, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Therese of Lisieux, and St. Catherine of Siena. The first Missionaries of God's Love Sisters household was formed in the Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn in 1988. Since then, the religious sisters have lived and ministered in the Australian cities of Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne, and Sydney, and led outreach missions around the country and in other Asia-Pacific nations, including Fiji and Papua New Guinea.--CNA

Pope Leo at Pentecost Vigil: God intends all to live as one

Pope Leo leads a Pentecost Vigil prayer service for pilgrims taking part in the Jubilee of Ecclesial Movements, Associations, and new Communities. Jun 09, 2025 The 'wide-open' embrace of St Peter's Square (@Vatican Media) By Christopher WellsSome 70,000 pilgrims from more than 100 countries took part in the Vigil of Pentecost in Saint Peter's Square Saturday evening, as part of the festivities for the Jubilee of Ecclesial Movements, Associations, and New Communities. After a 'pre-Vigil' consisting of prayer, song, and witness testimonies, the jubilant crowd of pilgrims was joined by Pope Leo, who led a Liturgy of the Word focused on the unity that is a gift of the Holy Spirit. 'St Peter's Square, with its wide-open and welcoming embrace, magnificently expresses the communion of the Church,' which is experienced in the various groups present, Pope Leo said his homily. Synodality unites us to all The Holy Father went on to highlight the concept of synodality, rooted in the communion of the three Persons of the Trinity and as 'God-with-us'; and pointing to the future. Where the Spirit is, the Pope said, 'there is movement, a journey to be made.' Pope Leo explained that this journey unites us to all of humanity, with the Holy Spirit teaching us to walk in unity, in contrast to the violence and division that marks our world. 'The earth will rest, justice will prevail, the poor will rejoice and peace will return,' he said, once we no longer act as predators, but as pilgrims; no longer each of us for ourselves, but walking alongside one another.' 'God created the world so that we might all live as one,' the Pope continued, explaining that 'Synodality' is the term the Church uses to describe this unity. 'Evangelization is always God's work' Finally, Pope Leo XIV highlighted the work of evangelization, which does not mean trying to take over the world, but refers instead to 'the infinite grace that radiates from lives transformed by the Kingdom of God.' Evangelization, then, can be understood as the way of the Beatitudes, the path chosen by Jesus. To follow that Path, Pope Leo said, 'we have no need of powerful patrons, worldly compromises, or emotional strategies. Evangelization is always God's work.' The Holy Father encouraged members of ecclesial movements to be attached to their particular Churches and their local parish communities. 'Together with the bishops and in cooperation with all the other members of the Body of Christ, all of us will then work together harmoniously as one,' he said; and then, 'the challenges facing humanity will be less frightening, the future will be less dark, and discernment will be less complicated… if together we obey the Holy Spirit.'--Vatican News
