PHOTO: GLENNN/INSTAGRAM Radio DJ Glenn Ong says he was 'unhappily married' in Instagram post on weight loss SINGAPORE - Veteran radio DJ Glenn Ong admitted he was 'unhappily married' in an Instagram post made on June 18 to celebrate his weight loss journey. In it, he wrote that that he will turn 55 on June 22, and that it has been two years since he started training two to three times a week to lose weight. 'From an unhealthy 84kg when I was unhappily married to a crazy happy 73kg now. Always choose happy if you can,' the host of The Big Show With Glenn And Angel on SPH Radio's Kiss92 wrote, alluding to his eight-year marriage to fellow local radio DJ Jean Danker, 46 a host and presenter on Mediacorp's Class 95. The former couple, who did not have any children together, announced their split in December 2024. It was Ong's third marriage, following his first two with the late Kate Reyes and Jamie Yeo, both former radio DJs. Ong's post, in which he encouraged his 77,600 Instagram followers to exercise and lose weight, included two photos - a selfie and a shot of him exercising at a gym. 'Can't seem to hit my target of 70kg but I'll settle for 72 to 73 because I feel really awesome now. The last time I was in this shape was when I was 21. If I can do it, guys and gals, so can you. Ready to take on the world,' he wrote. About a week earlier, Danker mused about her post-divorce dating life in a series of Instagram Stories on June 10, where she answered anonymous Ask Me Anything questions posed by some of her 77,700 followers. She revealed that she has been asked out by guys she labels as 'the brave young 20somethings'. Asked if she was ready to get attached, she replied: 'Let's just say it's gonna take someone really special for me to give up sleeping diagonal on my massive king sized bed - and it hasn't happened yet.' She also advised that women should not beat themselves up for having 'any kind of feelings' towards divorce, 'whether it's embarrassment or otherwise'. 'It's scariest just before you do it and even if you leap crying, and fly through the air screaming in fear, you're gonna land on solid ground, I promise you. Be brave.' Danker later told news outlet CNA that she feels 'a real sense of uplevelling at the moment'. 'I'm honestly grateful every day and am just looking to work hard professionally... taking good care of myself in all aspects and enjoying my friendships. She added: 'It's a bonus (and a miracle) if I find someone who is aligned with me in many ways, so that's not a huge priority. I really don't want to go on dating apps, so whatever will be will be. Aldi's supermarket sweep is back — giving you the chance to nab free shopping
Do you remember Supermarket Sweep, the iconic TV show that saw shoppers sprinting around trying to fit as many prizes into their trolley as possible? Well, if you've ever wanted to give it a go yourself, Aldi is going to let several people do just that. The budget retailer has brought back its popular Supermarket Sweep challenge, which gives customers a five-minute trolley dash around one of the stores. The challenge was first launched in 2016 and sees one lucky customer given the chance to fill up their trolley. And not only do you get to keep everything you grab completely free of charge – you'll also be helping charity, as Aldi donates the cash equivalents of the purchases to CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland). There is a slight catch though… the Supermarket Sweep is run by Aldi Scotland and thus only happens in Scottish stores. The next one will be taking place at the Gushetfaulds Street store in Glasgow, with people able to apply until June 22. After that, the challenge will be running in Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Ruthvenfield Road in Perth. To get involved, you can apply in-store or by emailing supermarketsweep@ but there are a few rules to follow. The first is that you have to be 18 or over to take part and the second is that if you are selected for the challenge, all alcohol is excluded from the sweep. So no sneaking a bottle of Ballycastle into the trolley. A Reddit user recently held an Ask Me Anything session online after claiming to take part in a recent Supermarket Sweep. They said: 'The main rules were: you only get five minutes, no alcohol, only two of any item and only one item from the Middle Aisle. I got £767 worth of items.' The user, known as u/Flaky-Walrus7244, went on to explain that the sweep took place in an empty supermarket after the store had closed, so there were no other shoppers around. 'It was a very surreal and a bizarre experience, but so much fun,' they shared. They claimed that they had made a very organised plan to work out what to grab before the sweep, but in the moment it all 'went out the window'. 'I went there beforehand, took pictures, made a chart… I got really organised. But then when the actual event started all my planning went out the window and I just grabbed stuff semi-randomly.' More Trending They continued to say: 'I was encouraged to get as much high value stuff as I could, because it meant more money for the charity. The timing was excellent in that they had a bunch of luxury meats like whole salmon, lamb legs, prime rib, etc. 'My favourite item was a big double air fryer. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it works though.' And by the end, they'd filled up several trolleys, not just one.
