Exclusive: Ashi Singh on being able to buy a house in Mumbai; ‘I never wanted any designer brands, but this was an important target to achieve'
Actress Ashi Singh , currently seen as Kairi in Ufff…Yeh Love Hai Mushkil opposite Shabir Ahluwalia, has achieved a major personal milestone—buying her own house in Mumbai. In an exclusive conversation, Ashi opened up about what this accomplishment means to her and why it was always a top priority. Reflecting on her early days in the city, Ashi shared, 'When I shifted to Mumbai, I was still in school. We always lived on rent. And I don't know why, but people here trouble tenants a lot. It feels like they are giving us money to stay, not the other way around. Even if you pay Rs 50,000 or Rs 1 lakh in rent, you're not treated well. That's at least been our experience.' For Ashi, owning a home wasn't about luxury—it was about stability. 'I didn't want a designer bag or a good car or a sports car—nothing. I just wanted a house, which finally I got. It was an important target to achieve.' Interestingly, despite owning the home, Ashi hasn't moved in yet. 'No, no. In fact, I have not even shifted there because my shoot happens where I stay right now. My set is 10 minutes away. It doesn't make sense to live an hour away. I've always said, wherever my set is, that's where I'll live. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? She recognises that follower count can influence casting decisions, pushing her to maintain an online presence to avoid missing opportunities. In the era of social media, actress Ashi Singh , who began her career with television, feels that being active on social media is essential. While the actress prefers to stay away from it, the job demands otherwise. Talking about her social media presence , the actor says, 'I don't enjoy being on social media. But it's important. Sometimes people get roles based on followers, which I don't appreciate. At the same time, I don't want to lose out on a good opportunity only because of that. That's why I still show up online.' Ashi made her TV debut with Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai and was also seen in the film Qaidi Band . When asked if doing films was ever her plan, she says, 'When I was auditioning, I never thought that I'd audition for film or for TV. Ashi Singh Hits Back At Mahira Khan For Anti-India Comments: 'Pakistan Hosted Osama'
Last Updated: Amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions post Operation Sindoor, television actress Ashi Singh has fiercely responded to Mahira Khan's criticism of India's airstrikes. Television star Ashi Singh didn't hold back when responding to Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who recently condemned India's Operation Sindoor—a retaliatory airstrike mission targeting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians and soldiers. Mahira, in a now-controversial post, had called the Indian operation 'cowardly" and accused India of using war and hate rhetoric. 'You attack cities in the middle of the night and call it a victory? Shame on you," she wrote, while alleging that Pakistan was being blamed without evidence. On May 11, Ashi Singh, known for Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet, fired back on her Instagram stories with a scathing takedown, 'Coming from a country that hosted Osama in its backyard, trained terrorists in camps, and cried innocent after 26/11, Kargil, and Pulwama—that's rich. Spare us the lecture and ask some sensible questions to your own nation (where you CAN have a voice). India doesn't celebrate war, we respond when provoked. #JaiHind." Her remarks instantly drew both support and backlash, with a surge of messages from Pakistani users—some hateful, some threatening. But Ashi didn't back down. In a follow-up post, she addressed the online flak head-on, 'To all my dear Pak fans flooding my DMs with love, I genuinely feel sorry for you. Not just because you're misinformed, but because you choose to be. Instagram chalana aata hai, toh thoda Google bhi try kar lo." She then laid out a fact-based reality check, 'Start here: Who started Kargil after the Lahore peace talks? Where was Osama bin Laden found? Who trained the 26/11 attackers? Why does your awam say 'no electricity, no jobs, but nukes zindabad'? Still think your hands are clean? Try international media—not just what you're fed. That is, if opening your eyes isn't too exhausting. With love and facts, A Proud Indian." Ashi's bold response has resonated with many in India amid ongoing tensions, with her post going viral across X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit. Meanwhile, on May 8, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement blasting both Mahira and Fawad Khan for their comments. The association demanded a 'strict and complete ban" on all Pakistani actors and filmmakers from working in India, calling their statements 'disrespectful to the nation" and 'an insult to our brave soldiers." 'No Indian artist will collaborate with any Pakistani talent, nor will any global platform be shared with them," the AICWA declared. As tensions simmer on both political and cultural fronts, Ashi Singh's unapologetic patriotism has ignited a fiery debate—one that shows no signs of quieting down. First Published:
