102 arrested for pelting stones on trains, 33 for placing foreign materials on tracks
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 102 persons for pelting stones on trains and 33 others for placing foreign materials such as coins, iron pieces, stones and other objects on tracks. The RPF had booked 128 stone pelting cases in South Central Railway (SCR) zone from January to May this year, of which 102 offenders have been identified in 85 cases. Meanwhile, 29 cases had been registered for placing foreign material on tracks, of which 33 have been identified in 26 cases. The remaining cases in both the offences are still under investigation, said SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain. Stating that top priority is being given to passenger safety and protecting railway property, the GM appealed to the public not to resort to stone pelting activities and asked them to alert the railway officials by dialling 139 if they notice anyone doing the same. SCR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) A. Sridhar said that such activities come under criminal offences and stern action would be taken against the accused under Section 153 of Railways Act, which could lead up to five years of prison time. The court gave 15 days imprisonment to one of the accused and imposed a fine of ₹30,500 on the remaining in the above cases, the CPRO said in a release on Tuesday.

Command & Control Centre launched at SCR's Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad to improve monitoring and co-ordination during emergencies
A Unified Command & Control Centre (UCCC) at Rail Nilayam, Zonal Interchange Monitoring System (ZIMS), Station Information Monitoring System (SIMS) and 198 Kwp (kilowatt peak) solar plant at Signal & Telecom workshop, Mettuguda in Secunderabad were launched by South Central Railway (SCR) general manager Arun Kumar Jain on Monday (June 16, 2025). The UCCC, set up at the Disaster Management Control Room (DMCR), was established in line with the Ministry of Railways' directive to improve monitoring and co-ordination during emergencies such as natural calamities, supply chain disruptions, and operational exigencies etc. Resources at UCCC It has high-end digital displays, including two 86-inch screens and two 65-inch interactive displays, integrated with a dashboard that offers real-time feeds from data loggers, CCTV surveillance of stations & locos, and systems like FOIS (Freight Operations Information System) and COA (Control Office Application), said an official release. ZIMS and SIMS ZIMS is to monitor interchange of trains performance across six divisions giving real-time information about rake and loco details through a live dashboard, facilitating smoother train operations. SIMS is a central database designed to ensure quick and seamless access to crucial data related to each station for seamless operations. The 198 kWp capacity solar plant is designed to generate approximately 3,20,760 units of solar energy annually and reduce nearly 259.8 tons of CO₂ emissions every year and will fully meet the workshop's annual energy consumption needs transforming it into an 'Energy Neutral Workshop.' Awards Earlier, Mr. Jain presented 'Employee of the Month' safety awards to nine employees during safety review meeting, including three from Vijayawada division, two from Guntur division and one from Hyderabad division. The employees belong to various categories like loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, station masters, track maintainers and points man. The general manager congratulated the awardees and called for intensified track patrolling focusing on newly constructed RUBs and other vulnerable areas to watch the water stagnation/water bodies along the track side. There should be more vigilance on miscreant activities tampering the signals, to ensure safe movement of the trains. Proper rest is a must for on-duty crew at proper time and interval, he said. The GM also released a book on 'Golden Years of Glorious SCR' – A three-year review from 2022 to 25 about the accomplishments of various departments. Later, he also launched MPs/MLAs representations Web app and Rail Kalarang Web Portal/Mobile Application, the release added.

SCR launches ‘Alpha Inspector' app for chief loco inspectors
South Central Railway (SCR) GM Arun Kumar Jain has launched the 'Alpha Inspector' Application - a web and mobile platform leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and GPS technologies. Designed to enhance chief loco inspectors' efficiency, the application automates movement tracking and record-keeping, reducing manual workload. It provides real-time access to loco pilot (LP) and assistant loco pilot (ALP) operational data, enabling quicker responses to anomalies at divisional and zonal levels. Earlier, he held a video conference with his divisional managers where he reiterated that safety is paramount in railway operations, emphasising strict adherence to safety protocols and the avoidance of shortcut methods. Special emphasis was placed on safety measures at road under bridges (RUBs) and level crossings, with instructions to install at least two height gauges at all RUBs to enhance track safety. Addressing recent incidents, he reviewed cattle run-over cases, stressing the necessity of pro-active measures to prevent disruptions in train movement. The status of fencing along vulnerable track sections was also examined. On Saturday, the GM had flagged off and pedalled during the 'Fit India Cyclothon' event along with other officials at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad. The event was organised by SCR Sports Association as part of the Khelo India Scheme's FIT INDIA initiative and with an objective of integrating fitness into the daily routine.

SCR GM takes part in ‘Fit India Cyclothon'
Hyderabad: South Central Railways General Manager Arun Kumar Jain flagged off and pedalled in the 'Fit India Cyclothon' event along with team of SCR officials at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad on Sunday. The event was organised by SCR Sports Association as part of the Khelo India Scheme's FIT INDIA initiative under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to promote the culture of fitness across Railway work force and communities. Arun Kumar Jain complimented the sports association in taking up this appropriate and important initiative. He stressed on the importance of staying fit which is very important and need of the hour. 'The Fit India Movement campaign has really helped everyone in a big way to keep fit and healthy. Cycling is very good for health and nowadays, many people in other countries are cycling to maintain fitness. Cycling is an environment friendly activity and improves health also,' he said. Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR, Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, Senior Railway Officials, SCR Sports Association Officials and SCR Sportsmen were amongst those participated. The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment has taken up the Fit India Cycling drive. Envisioned by Prime Minister as People's Movement, the FIT INDIA Movement is an endeavour to involve citizens of the country to make India a fit nation.

Kacheguda Railway Station illumination to be switched on by Kishan Reddy
Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy will dedicate to the nation the ₹2.23 crore facade lighting of Kacheguda Railway station on Monday. General Manager of South Central Railway Arun Kumar Jain and other senior officials would be in attendance. The station consists of five platforms, with an average of 103 trains passing through per day and an average footfall of 45,000 per day, and has completed more than 100 years. The lighting proposal was sanctioned by the Tourism Ministry and work executed by the Hyderabad Division to highlight the Indo-Saracenic/ Indo Gothic architecture, according to a press release.
