Sudhanshu Pandey On KJo's The Traitors: ‘No Phone, No WiFi, It Was Peaceful'
Last Updated: Sudhanshu Pandey shared that the experience in The Traitors was meditative, as there were no phones, no internet and just one TV. Sudhanshu Pandey has stayed away from television since he exited Anupamaa. After leaving the daily soap, he wanted to try something different. Now, he's back in action as a contestant on The Traitors, a reality show hosted by Karan Johar, where he's competing with 19 others. At first, the show may seem like something out of his comfort zone, but Sudhanshu actually found it very peaceful. He shared that the experience was 'meditative," as there were no phones, no internet and just one TV. This gave him a chance to observe others closely and think more about human nature. In a recent conversation with ETimes, the actor speaking about the experience on the show and what he's learnt so far, he said, 'It was a very meditative space to be in because we would play the whole day and then go back to our rooms at night and be just completely by yourself. There was only one TV, there was no internet, there was nothing, there was no phone, there was no WiFi. So you were completely disconnected." 'I was observing everybody there and how they behave. They were splitting their personality every other second. You realise, there are all sorts of people there. So, it makes you sit and observe the kind of people around you or what kind of people are they growing into. It was a great observation class for me and a great vacation, I would say," Sudhanshu Pandey explained. The Anupama star feels that for Karan Johar, hosting The Traitors must have been tough for him. Since the filmmaker enjoys talking and connecting with people, staying silent and serious for a show like this was not easy for him. He had to hold back his usual energy and remain calm. Sudhanshu also spoke about why he doesn't expect to have fights with anyone on the show. He explained that he always treats people with respect, and because of that, he usually gets the same respect back. Sudhanshu Pandey further explained that he didn't plan any special strategy for the show. He decided to just be himself and act naturally, without pretending or showing any fake image. For him, a reality show is meant to show the true side of a person. Since he has been in the industry for many years, he feels this is a good chance for the audience to see his real side. He wants people to connect with the real version of him. has been a heartthrob since the 90s ever since people were introduced to 'Band Of Boys' and also when he was a popular model. However, the actor is now on a new journey, as he ventured into the reality space with ' The Traitors '. The series hosted by also has many other contestants like Uorfi Javed , Apurva Mukhija, , Harsh Gujral, Anshula Kapoor among many others. In a chat with ETimes, when asked about his strategy for the show, Sudhanshu said, "I'm exactly the way you see me. In fact, you know, when when the poster was launched at Yash Raj, and they asked me what is going to be your strategy, I said that my strategy is going to be having no strategy at all. I'm just going to be myself. And for me, that is what a reality show is. I'm not there to put an act or put up a facade. Because, I guess when you are in a reality space, it's the only chance for an actor, or at least somebody who's been working for so many years as I have been, is the only chance for the audience to see the real side of an actor." Talking about the experience on the show and what he's learnt so far, he expressed, "It was a very meditative space to be in, because we would play the whole day and then go back to our rooms at night and be just completely by yourself. There was only one TV, there was no internet, there was nothing, there was no phone, there was no Wi Fi. So you were completely disconnected." Sudhanshu revealed how the show was a great lesson for him in observing people. "I was observing everybody there and how they behave. They were splitting their personality every other second. You realise, there's all sorts of people there. So, it makes you sit and observe about the kind of people around you or what kind of people are they growing into. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now It was a great observation class for me and a great vacation I would say." Sudhanshu also spoke about host Karan Johar and why this series would have been so challenging for him. "Karan is a a people's person, and he loves talking and chatting. It was a challenge for him to host something like this, because he had to keep a straight face and not interact." The actor also opened up why there is less possibility of him having fights or rifts with anyone on the series. "I conduct myself in such a way that I give a lot of respect to people around me. So, I also get a lot of respect in return. The risk of somebody coming and disrespecting me for no reason is very less, very little. I don't remember last time, somebody just disrespected me for no reason," said Sudhanshu.
