What will Boston Red Sox' Roman Anthony do with first home run ball?
SEATTLE — Red Sox rookie Marcelo Mayer had to make a trade with a Yankees fan to get his first major league home run ball. Mayer gave the fan who caught it an autographed bat and another ball. Fellow rookie Roman Anthony luckily didn't have to negotiate. His first major league home run fell into a private tunnel area for some 'good placement.' Advertisement Anthony's blast gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Boston went on to win 2-0 over the Mariners here at T-Mobile Park. 'It was awesome. It was even better that we got a great win there,' Anthony said. Anthony, who Baseball America ranks No. 1 on its Top 100 prospect list, plans to give the ball to his parents, Anthony and Lori Anthony, like he does with all his milestone baseballs. 'I usually just give 'em to my parents and kind let them do the work,' Anthony said. 'And they'll do the whole little framing and everything. So I'll give it to them for sure.' The 21-year-old's home run went 391 feet and left his bat with a 104 mph exit velocity. He connected on a 96.2 mph sinker from Seattle starting pitcher Logan Gilbert with the count even 2-2. Advertisement Anthony (at 21 years, 34 days old) is the youngest Red Sox player to homer in a game since Rafael Devers back in 2017 (20 years old). Devers — who Boston traded to the Giants in a surprise blockbuster Sunday — also belted his first career home run here at T-Mobile Park. 'Obviously it was shocking,' Anthony said about the Devers trade. Devers was removed from the team charter plane Sunday right before the Red Sox took off for their cross-country flight. 'For me, I was a little bit more towards the back of the plane as the young guy,' Anthony said. 'We understand as a team that it's a business. Obviously he was a phenomenal player for us and everyone knows what Raffy could do and how he was as a teammate. So sad to see him go but as a team we understand that we gotta move on and find ways to win.' Boston called up Anthony from Triple-A Worcester on June 9 to take injured Wilyer Abreu's spot on the 26-man roster. He's gone 2-for-21 with a homer, double, four RBIs, two walks and five strikeouts 'I haven't felt overmatched so I'm not worried about it,' Anthony said. 'I know it'll come through here soon so it's nice to kinda get that first one out of the way today and hope to keep this thing rolling.' More Red Sox coverage Read the original article on MassLive.

Boston Red Sox trade rumors: Jarren Duran of interest to Padres (report)
Could Jarren Duran be on the trade block here in early June with the Red Sox three games under .500 (29-32) and top prospect Roman Anthony knocking on the door? The Padres have interest in Boston's left fielder, according to a report from Dennis Lin, a Padres beat reporter for The Athletic. Advertisement Lin wrote, 'As the Padres face a daunting upcoming schedule and glaring holes at the bottom of their lineup, their list of trade targets again includes Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, league sources told The Athletic. The Padres expressed interest in Duran ahead of the 2024 season.' Duran, Boston's leadoff hitter, is batting .264 with a .312 on-base percentage, .406 slugging percentage, .718 OPS, four home runs, 13 doubles, six triples, 34 RBIs, 31 runs, 13 steals, 16 walks and 62 strikeouts in 60 games (282 plate appearances). The 28-year-old is under team control through the 2028 season and is earning $3.75 million this year. He finished eighth in the 2024 AL MVP voting when he led the league in triples (14) and doubles (48) while adding 21 homers, 75 RBIs, 34 steals and a .285/.342/.492/.834 slash line. Lin added that 'an underwhelming Red Sox team might consider Duran expendable' and noted Anthony, a left fielder, is 'tantalizingly close to Boston.' Advertisement Anthony has the chance to be promoted any day. As manager Alex Cora told WEEI on Thursday afternoon, 'He's not knocking at the door, he's knocking it down.' Anthony, who just turned 21 on May 13, is ranked the game's No. 1 prospect by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline. He's batting .303 with a .430 on-base percentage, .492 slugging percentage, .922 OPS, eight homers, nine doubles, two triples, 23 RBIs, 41 runs, 45 walks and 49 strikeouts in 53 games (242 plate appearances) for Triple-A Worcester. 'I don't think there's a perfect answer to that,' chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Saturday when asked about a timeline for Anthony's big league debut. 'We're trying to balance what's best for Roman and his development with where we are as a team and the way we're prioritizing our 2025 season. We try to lean on the goals and process you think about in the offseason when the noise isn't quite so loud. 'I think you also have to be willing to react to the situation you have right now. It's impossible to ignore the performance he has had in Triple-A and how that's lining up with our struggles here at the big league level, but we're also trying to be mindful of the environment that we put him in, what he still has to work on, and what the pressure and demands would be. We'll try to make the best decision we can for him.' More Red Sox coverage Read the original article on MassLive.

Anthony Ramos Calls Out Madonna's Actions During Hamilton
Don't ask Madonna what happens in the stage show Hamilton. In a new interview, original cast member Anthony Ramos appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where he was asked who the most "terrifying celebrity" in the audience was during his run as John Laurens in Hamilton. Anthony cited a 2015 incident in response. 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time,' Anthony said, mimicking looking down at a screen. He added, 'I was like, 'Damn, shorty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door is right there. You don't have to stay here.'' The moment occurred during the show's Off-Broadway run at The Public Theater. Interestingly, at the time Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted-and-deleted, "Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage #noselfieforyou." A rep for Madonna subsequently denied the speculation. However, Jonathan Groff was later asked if he was disappointed that Madonna wasn't allowed backstage, to which he said, "No. Because that bitch was on her phone. You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show." There we have it: The rehashing of a decade-old Broadway beef.

Shuvee Etrata reveals Anthony Constantino has been courting her even before she entered 'Pinoy Big Brother'
What is the real score between Shuvee Etrata and Anthony Constantino? This was the question that was asked Shuvee in her GMA Integrated News interview with Aubrey Carampel alongside her fellow ex-PBB housemates, which aired on Friday. In response, Shuvee revealed that Anthony has been courting her even before she entered Bahay ni Kuya. "Nanliligaw. Nanliligaw 'yun bago ako pumasok, t'as sabi talaga nito, 'Sige sagutin mo 'yan. Bawal' kasi papasok eh. Papasok ka dun, like it's the worst thing you could do to a man, saying yes na papasok ka ng 'PBB,'" she said. "Pero ang hirap, I can just imagine kung meron kami, kasi kahit nung nandun ako sa loob, hirap na hirap ako. Wala akong something to hold on to." She added that she wants to get to know Anthony deeper. "Manligaw muna pa siya," she quipped. Anthony was among the people who welcomed Shuvee into the outside world after she got evicted from "Pinoy Big Brother" with her duo Klarisse De Guzman. Roxie Smith, Sugar Mercado, Skye Chua, and fellow ex-housemate Ashley Ortega were also there to meet her after her exit from the house. In Shuvee's return to "Unang Hirit" on Friday as a guest, she got a sweet surprise from Anthony, who visited her on set and brought a bouquet for her. Anthony shared that he is "very happy" with Shuvee's journey inside "PBB" and expressed his pride for her. He also said that he's "really blessed and lucky to have you in my life." Shuvee could not help but scream from the kilig and thanked him for patiently waiting "Guys nandito na po 'yung TDH ko!" she declared, pertaining to the acronym "tall, dark, and handsome" which she used to describe Donny Pangilinan. This week, Shuvee, along with the other evicted housemates, returned to "PBB" as duo challengers. "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" airs new episodes on GMA Network weeknights at 9:35 p.m. and Saturdays at 6:15 p.m. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
