Hay bales, frozen turkey and false teeth among 'surprising' items lost on coaches
Hay bales, a frozen turkey and false teeth are among the 'surprising' lost property items found on Megabus coaches. The coach operator revealed some of the items left on its vehicles over the years after the lost property office in Glasgow was contacted about 469 lost items. The items found in May included a guitar, Lego sets, a Winnie the Pooh, a jar of honey, insulin, an electric shaver, a historic coins and stamps collection, a Radiohead vinyl, a Neil Diamond CD and a lone trainer. However, the bus operator said those aren't the most 'surprising' items left on their coaches over the years. The lost property team have dealt with many 'weird and wonderful' items with one of the strangest being three bales of hay. Other highlights have included a cooking wok, false teeth, family tree documents, lone shoes and socks, and even a whole frozen turkey. Megabus said 95% of the items reported were reunited with their owners, and those not claimed are kept for 28 days and often donated to charity. Megabus receptionist Angela said: 'Over many years of dealing with an eclectic mix of lost property items, our lost property team have almost become immune to weird and wonderful finds, but we still get something handed in that surprises us every now and again. She added: 'The most important thing, of course, is to try and make sure we can reunite as many of the items as possible with their owners, and we work hard to do that as we know how frustrating and upsetting it can be to lose something while travelling.' 'I don't know if she voted...' Queen Camilla enjoyed watching Angela Rippon on Strictly
Queen Camilla loved watching on Angela Rippon on Strictly Come Dancing. Former BBC News journalist Angela, 80, made history by becoming the oldest celebrity to take part in the BBC One Latin and ballroom dancing show in 2023, and Angela's appearance with her 29-year-old professional dance partner Kai Widdrington got the royal seal of approval. Angela - who finished in eighth place on Strictly Come Dancing - told the new issue of Woman's Weekly magazine: "Queen Camilla said we were cool, but I don't know if she voted." The esteemed broadcaster shot to fame in 1975 when she got a permanent newsreader job on the BBC Nine O'Clock News, after covering for the Richard Baker in February of that year. She said: "I could never have imagined that I was entering a vintage period in my career, which quickly led to me becoming a household name. "As far as I was concerned, I was just filling in." Angela - who was named Newsreader of the Year in 1976, 1977 and 1978 - left BBC News in 1981 and had a very brief stint as a presenter on TV-am's Good Morning Britain news programme in 1983. Her varied seven-decade spanning career has also seen her work on BBC Radio 2, be a stand-in newsreader on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast, host a series of Sun, Sea and Bargain Spotting for BBC Two and become a presenter on Cash in the Attic. Rippon is certain she would not be enjoying a "long and rewarding career" if it was not for the BBC giving her a chance in 1975. She admitted: "It was all such a long time ago now. Yet without it, I might still not be enjoying such a long and rewarding career. "It's really flattering that people took me to their hearts all those years ago - and they've never forgotten how my career started." Angela turns 81 on October 12, and she has no plans of retiring. The TV presenter - who spent 15 years fronting the factual BBC One consumer affairs show Rip Off Britain, with the 77-year-old journalist Julia Somerville and the 85-year-old Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford - said: "I'm busy, busy, busy - but it beats the alternative. "People don't say to me, 'When are you going to retire?' But why would I stop doing something I love and enjoy while people are still asking me to do it?" Last year, Angela was replaced on Rip Off Britain in 2024 by 56-year-old ex-BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin.

Queen Camilla's touching Strictly comment to Angela Rippon
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Queen Camilla had a touching comment to Angela Rippon when the TV presenter appeared on Strictly Come Dancing. The Queen is said to be the 'one of the greatests fan' of the hit BBC show. Professional dancer Johannes Radebe once revealed she 'never misses' an episode. It meant that Camilla was sure to catch Angela, 80, when she partnered up with professional Kai Widdrington in 2023. Angela was eliminated eighth in the series that saw Coronation Street star Ellie Leach lifting the Glitterball Trophy. Angela became the oldest celebrity to take part in Strictly when she took to the dancefloor. And it seems as though her performance had the royal seal of approval from the Queen. Speaking to Woman's Weekly, the former newsreader said: 'Queen Camilla said we were cool, but I don't know if she voted.' (Image: PA) Angela, who began her television career at BBC South West in 1966, presented Come Dancing. The show is considered to be the forerunner of Strictly, although its competitors were neither celebrities nor professionals. Both Angela and the Queen have spoken about maintaining their love of dance later in life. In 2020, the pair met at a Silver Swans ballet class - a strength session for people over 55 - after which the Queen revealed she likes to dance to stay active. At the time, the Queen said: 'I think we've got to keep active, if we don't, we'll just seize up and you know, we won't be able to get out of bed in the morning. It doesn't matter if it's 10 minutes or 20 minutes, it just starts off the day. I do a combination of a bit of Silver Swans and a bit of pilates and a lot of walking, which I love.' (Image: PA Archive/PA Images) Speaking about her visit to Silver Swans, the Queen said: 'Sarah, the teacher, said, 'Would you ever consider having a lesson?' So I got a group of ancient friends together and the four of us sort of clattered around and when we're in London, we do it once a week, and it makes all the difference. 'I've always loved dance but I've never done ballet before. It doesn't matter if you've done ballet or not, it's something that will make you feel better.' The Queen says learning to dance teaches people 'discipline' while being 'really good fun'. South African dancer Johannes was taken aback by the Queen's fondness of dance when the pair met last year. Speaking after the meeting Johannes, who made history when he partnered with John Whaite as the first same-sex couple, said: 'She adores the show and never misses it. I didn't know she was a lover of tap as well. I do know that she loves Strictly Come Dancing.'
