The NC Classic was originally slated to be held on May 24 but was later postponed to July 5 due to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. While Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Neeraj Chopra will headline the meet named in his honour, the Indian athlete will face stiff competition from some of the sport's biggest names. The event was originally scheduled for May 24 but had to be put off after cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan erupted. Alongside Neeraj Chopra, the meet is set to see participation from the likes of Anderson Peters, Julius Yego — both world champions — and 2016 Rio Olympics gold medallist Thomas Rohler among others. The extravaganza is a collaboration between Neeraj, JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics.
