'Going back to my roots': Aussie supermodel Jess Hart says she wants to raise her children, Baby-Rae and Glorious, in Ballarat after decades overseas
Australian supermodel Jess Hart has revealed she plans to return home and raise her children in Australia, after spending more than two decades living abroad. The 39-year-old, who was born in Sydney and raised in Melbourne, has lived overseas since she was a teenager, first moving to Paris at age 15 to pursue her modelling career after winning Dolly magazine's Model Search in 2000. Hart's career took off quickly, with high-profile campaigns for brands including Victoria's Secret, Guess, L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton and Max Mara. She's graced the pages of Vogue and Sports Illustrated, and called cities like London, New York and Los Angeles home. But now, with four-year-old daughter Baby-Rae, three-year-old son Glorious, and 11-year-old stepdaughter Wren in tow, Hart says she's preparing to lay down roots back in Victoria. "I want my children to be half-Australian and half-American- not just Americans with Australian passports," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I want them to be immersed in Australian culture and grow up the way we did." The supermodel, known for her cheeky gap-toothed grin, is reportedly eyeing a permanent base near Ballarat in regional Victoria- the same area where her late mother Rae's family once lived. Rae tragically died in January 2023 after a battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disorder formerly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. "It would make my mum so happy," Hart said. "[The region is] where her family had homes. I'm going back to my roots, my heritage." She also revealed she's currently exploring schooling options that would allow the family to split their time between both countries. While it's unclear whether Hart and her longtime partner, American NASCAR driver James Kirkham, are still together, she's made no secret of her desire to reconnect with Australia. In September, Hart starred in a Qantas campaign alongside First Nations model Charlee Fraser, with creative direction from Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. When asked what she misses most about home, Hart quickly responded: "My friends and family." More recently, the supermodel shared a string of sweet snaps from her trip back to Australia on Instagram, including time spent at Sydney's Crown with her children. "Three little monkeys…. Just busy creating winter memories in Australia," she captioned the post. She also made an appearance at Australian Fashion Week in May, opening the Bianca Spender show to the delight of fashion insiders.

He said, 'My left side is functioning, my right side has completely stopped working. I feel like maybe a couple more months and I won't have my left hand either. It's sobering.'advertisementThe 52-year-old star revealed his diagnosis in April 2025. 'I wake up every day, and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening. It's not a dream,' he told Diane Sawyer. Dane first began experiencing symptoms a year and a half ago, when he noticed weakness in his right hand. He explained, 'I didn't really think anything of it at the time. I thought maybe I'd been texting too much or my hand was fatigued, but a few weeks later I noticed it was getting a little worse. So I went and saw a hand specialist, who sent me to another hand specialist. I went and saw a neurologist and the neurologist sent me to another neurologist and said, 'This is way above my pay grade.''Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a rare neurodegenerative disease that gradually paralyses muscles. Early symptoms can be muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, and speech impairment. With time, the patient loses the muscle power to move, speak, and finally is no cure, but after being diagnosed, three to five years is a normal life expectancy, although some patients live considerably about the unwavering support he's received from his family - especially his wife, Rebecca Gayheart - a visibly emotional Eric Dane shared, 'We've managed to become better friends and better parents. She is probably my biggest champion and my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her.'The actor also recalled a deeply personal moment during a snorkelling trip, when his daughter had to help him back to the boat after he realised he didn't have the strength to swim.'She dragged me back to the boat. Eric Dane Is 'Angry' At His ALS Diagnosis Considering How His Dad Died
Eric Dane is not holding back his feelings about his ongoing battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The actor expressed dashed hopes about his chances of ever recovering from ALS, predicting something even worse waiting for him at the end of the line. Eric Dane shared his ALS diagnosis with the world in April after a series of fruitless tests until a neurologist came to his rescue with an accurate diagnosis. The sickness, which began with the weakness of his left arm, has now reportedly spread to his other arm, with his two lower limbs standing a risk of bowing to the crushing effects of ALS. He credits a harrowing experience at a recent snorkeling trip where his stability failed him, and his new realization of how bad things have gotten. According to the TV star, he can feel the end coming for his mobility, which is not a pleasant reality for him to imagine. Dane added that he feels angered about his diagnosis and possible death; he lost his dad at a very young age, and the fact that his kids may suffer the same fate is beyond heartbreaking. An emotional Dane did not let the weight of the moment get in the way of showering encomiums on his wife, whom he described as his biggest support system in the interview with Good Morning America. Dane's story left a trail of emotional reactions in its wake. According to a fan, they have never "cried so much in 2 minutes," as another commenter declared, "So heartbreaking!!!" "Devastating. Live every moment. Go on every trip. Do what you want to do. Live your life to the fullest because it is short," another fan replied in the quotes, urging everyone to take a lesson from the actor's touching story and enjoy life to the fullest. One more concerned fan empathized with the TV star, admitting that while it is difficult to find the right words to heal his scars, may he find the fastest way to peace, longevity, and an endless flow of support. However, a fourth commenter chastised the network for its presentation of the actor's story. In their words: "You make it out to be like this is just about some random guy falling ill and making his best, last testament, but really, this is about an actor being stricken because of the iconicity of the role he played before and the dramatization of the entire journey." In April, The Blast noted that Dane bore a much more positive outlook on his illness. At the revelation of his diagnosis of the disease, which robs its victims of their ability to eat, speak, walk, and even breathe, the actor assured the public of his resolve to keep going. "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter," the 52-year-old said at the time. He also noted that his diagnosis was not an indicator of an early retirement from the hustle and bustle of the movie industry. He even informed his fans of his return to a popular movie set at the time. "I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week," Dane shared. According to the Cleveland Clinic, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that impairs communication between nerve cells and muscles, resulting in progressive muscle weakness. Dane also joined other popular celebrities battling the illness, including Roberta Flack, Stephen Hawking, Aaron Lazar, and the late Kenneth Mitchell. Dane's ALS diagnosis came months after he laid his 7-year-long divorce process from his estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart, to rest. Both parties reportedly signed off on dissolving the union after a legal deadline, which could have otherwise led to the case being thrown out. Gayheart initially filed for divorce in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences in her motion. She also asked the court to grant her joint legal and physical custody of their two kids. The "Scream" Actress also demanded spousal support. However, things seemingly died down after this filing, which saw them exchange preliminary financial information. Now, the water of their marriage is under the bridge, and the couple continues to co-parent their bundles of joy with mutual respect and cordiality. The actor is a proud dad to his two beauties, Billie Beatrice Dane and Georgia Geraldine Dane. He welcomed Billie in 2010 and Georgia in 2011. "I never had a family, and now I do. I know I'm a very lucky guy," the actor told PEOPLE at the time. While Gayheart was pregnant with Billie, Dane shared that he would be in the labor room, staying close to his then-wife and making sure she was in great condition. Since then, the actor and his estranged wife have gushed about their daughter, who has become a model and dancer. As for their second daughter, Gayheart described her pregnancy as a breeze compared to the very occupying pregnancy of her first daughter. The actress shared: "What's made it different is that I'm very focused on Billie ... so I'm not very focused on [the pregnancy]. I'm not as neurotic," she said. "[With Billie] I was micromanaging everything I was eating and every little symptom I was feeling. And this pregnancy, I just know everything's okay." Years later, Georgia has grown up very interested in athletics. In 2024, the actress uploaded a clip of their daughter strutting her stuff on the court. Wishing Eric Dane all the relief he can find as he continues to deal with ALS.

Eric Dane is ‘angry' over ‘very good chance' he will be taken from his daughters
Eric Dane is sharing details about his Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, diagnosis. During a conversation with Diane Sawyer on 'Good Morning America' the 'Grey's Anatomy' actor shared that he only has 'one functioning arm.' 'My left side is functioning, my right side has completely stopped working,' the 52-year-old told Sawyer, adding that his left arm has been getting increasingly weaker. 'I feel like maybe a couple more months and I won't have my left hand either. It's sobering.' The weakness in his right hand was one of the first ALS symptoms he began having a year and a half ago, Dane explained. Dane received his ALS diagnosis in April after nine months of testing. Dane explained that he initially didn't think much about the weakness in his right hand at the time, chalking it up to 'texting too much or my hand was fatigued.' 'But a few weeks later I noticed it got a little worse,' Dane continued telling Sawyer. 'So I went and saw a hand specialist, who sent me to another hand specialist. I went and saw a neurologist and the neurologist sent me to another neurologist and said, 'This is way above my pay grade.'' After being diagnosed with what Johns Hopkins describes as the incurable 'fatal type of motor neuron disease,' Dane said he 'will never forget those three letters.' 'It's on me the second I wake up. It's not a dream,' the 'Euphoria' actor continued. Although Dane still has use of his legs, he told Sawyer that he worries about losing his leg function as well, recalling a moment he was snorkeling with one of his daughters he shares with his wife Rebecca Gayheart. According to Dane, he was snorkeling with his daughter when he was unable to swim back to the boat on his own. 'She dragged me back to the boat,' Dane told Sawyer. 'I was like, breaking down in tears. I made sure she got back to the water with her friend and continued on with the snorkeling. I was just heartbroken.' 'I'm angry because my father was taken from me when I was young, and now there's a very good chance I'm going to be taken from my girls while they're very young,' Dane continued, adding that, at the end of the day, all he wants to do is spend time with his family and tell them every day that they are loved. Despite being diagnosed with ALS, Dane has returned to acting, saying, 'In my heart, I don't feel like this is the end for me. I'm fighting as much as I can. There's so much about it that's out of my control.' But Dane's wife, and the mother of his 15- and 13-year-old daughters, Gayheart has been his 'biggest champion' during this time. 'We have managed to become better friends and better parents,' he said as he got emotional. 'She is probably my biggest champion and my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her.'
