Negeri Sembilan records 225 COVID-19 cases in ME 24

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan recorded 225 new COVID-19 cases in the 24th Epidemiological Week (ME 24) for the period of June 8 to 14, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. He said the figure showed an increase of 104.5 per cent compared to the previous week of 110 cases and Seremban recorded the highest number with 200 cases in ME 24. 'However, the situation is under control with no outbreaks reported. The increase is believed to be due to social movements and activities during the recent festive holiday season,' he told reporters after chairing an Exco meeting here today. Meanwhile, he said dengue cases in the state showed an increasing trend with 84 cases recorded in ME24 compared to 64 cases in the previous week while 21 outbreaks were reported involving 16 controlled, four uncontrolled and one hotspot. Aminuddin said the public was advised to remain vigilant and practise preventive measures and to seek early treatment if they experience symptoms of dengue. In another development, he said the state government had agreed to demolish and rebuild the Seri Pilah Kariah Mosque in Kuala Pilah at a cost of RM5 million as the mosque building was no longer safe to use. 'We want to develop a better mosque that will provide more comfort, especially to the children of the parish. The mosque, which will be moved to a new site at Lots 5616 and 5618 in Pilah Tengah, is expected to be completed within two to three years,' he said.

Nidzam joins Negri as new coach for next season

PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan have officially named Nidzam Jamil as their new coach for the upcoming Super League season replacing K. Nanthakumar. The appointment was confirmed by the club's chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who described the move as part of the club's ongoing commitment to building a more progressive and sustainable football future. 'Nidzam is a highly respected figure in Malaysian football, both as a former national player and as a tactically astute coach,' said Aminuddin. 'His experience in youth development and modern football philosophy makes him the ideal candidate to lead Negri in an increasingly competitive Super League environment.' The 45-year-old Nidzam brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously led clubs such as Selangor, Felda United, AirAsia, and KL SPA. As part of Negri's long-term strategic plan, the club will be placing greater emphasis on developing local talents - particularly youngsters from the state. Negri have so far confirmed the signings of several key players, including national striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, goalkeeper Azri Ghani and defender Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee. The club are also in the final stages of securing several foreign signings. 'These imports will add depth, international experience, and technical strength to our squad. Their presence will provide balance in terms of leadership and performance quality,' added Aminuddin.

New coach Nidzam to lead Negri's Super League revival

KUALA LUMPUR: Negri Sembilan have appointed former national player Nidzam Jamil as head coach for the 2025-2026 M-League season, marking a fresh start after a disappointing campaign. Nidzam, who resigned as Selangor coach in October last year, hopes to help the Super League strugglers bounce back from a 12th-place finish last season. The appointment was confirmed on Friday by club chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who hailed it as a crucial move towards building a stronger, more progressive side. "Nidzam is an individual with vast experience, both as a former national player and a high-profile coach," Aminuddin said in a statement. "His expertise in youth development and his modern tactical approach will help Negri do better next season." The 45-year-old previously coached Felda United, AirAsia FC, and KL SPA FC, earning a reputation for developing young talent. Negri are expected to revamp their squad with several new signings, including a few experienced heads to guide the younger players. "To realise this vision, we've moved to sign key players, including striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, goalkeeper Azri Ghani and defender Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee," added Aminuddin. He also revealed that the club are in the final stages of securing foreign imports, with announcements expected soon. "The presence of these imports will provide leadership and technical quality on the pitch. With the right mix of youth, senior players and foreign talent, I believe Negri will be competitive next season."

Aminuddin appointed as new NSFC chairman

NEGERI Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has been appointed as the new chairman of the Negeri Sembilan Football Club (NSFC), effective today, replacing Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri. Tunku Syed Razman, who is also president of the Negeri Sembilan Football Association (PBNS), said the appointment reflected a continuous commitment to strengthening the team's governance structure, particularly through a clear separation of roles between PBNS as the state's football governing body and NSFC as the professional entity managing the team. 'With this appointment, PBNS can now focus on strengthening grassroots development and the state's football structure, including youth development, local tournaments and coaching. 'Meanwhile, NSFC will continue to operate as a competitive professional club at both national and regional levels,' he said in a statement today. Tunku Syed Razman also expressed confidence that Aminuddin's leadership would enhance strategic cooperation between the state government, PBNS, and stakeholders in efforts to establish NSFC as a high-performing, sustainable and respected club. Meanwhile, Aminuddin described the appointment as a great responsibility, noting that NSFC was a football institution not only with a legacy in Malaysian sports but also a source of pride for the people of Negeri Sembilan. 'I am honoured to accept the appointment as NSFC Chairman. Football is not just a sport—it is a vehicle for unity, a symbol of the state's identity, and a youth development platform that can unite people from all walks of life. Aminuddin also expressed confidence that NSFC could rise again as a competitive team at the national level and called on all supporters, sponsors and strategic partners to work together in rebuilding the team's strength with unity and strong commitment.

Selangor government urged to expedite repair works

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic) has called on the Selangor government to expedite repair works on the Genting Peras-Kuala Klawang road that was damaged by floods four years ago. He said the road, which connects Jelebu in Negri Sembilan and Hulu Langat in Selangor, could help ease traffic congestion, especially during festive seasons and school holidays, besides serving as an alternative route for motorists heading to Kuala Lumpur. 'The damaged section in Jelebu has already been repaired, but the part at the Selangor border isn't. I will write to the Selangor Mentri Besar urging prompt repairs. Since it was damaged in 2021, we have not been able to use the route fully. 'If the road is repaired, it can become an alternative route to the Klang Valley. Motorists won't have to go through Seremban; they can go via Genting Peras from Jelebu into Hulu Langat and straight to Kuala Lumpur or Selangor,' he told Bernama at a press conference after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday. The Kuala Klawang-Genting Peras road has been closed to traffic since December 2021 after it was damaged by floods and landslides. Meanwhile, Aminuddin, who is also the Port Dickson Member of Parliament, said the state government has allocated RM1mil for a solar-powered lighting programme in rural areas, including Orang Asli villages. 'The RM2mil allocated by the Public Works Department for lighting is insufficient, as there are still poorly lit areas, so we've added another RM1mil. This is to ensure that attention is given to marginalised rural areas. It's part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and provide comfort and security to road users,' he said. On a separate matter, Aminuddin also extended condolences to the families of the 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris students who perished in the accident along the East-West Highway near Gerik on Monday.
