Man Utd's £51m transfer target responds to rumours he could replace Andre Onana
Kaua Santos has distanced himself from rumours that he could be set for a move to Manchester United, insisting he remains 'entirely focused' on Eintracht Frankfurt. The young goalkeeper left Flamengo's academy to join Eintracht in 2023 and went on to make his first senior appearance for the Bundesliga outfit in a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg last September. But Santos suffered a cruciate ligament tear in Eintracht's Europa League quarter-final second leg defeat to Tottenham and the serious knee injury brought the 22-year-old's promising debut season to a premature end. Now on the long road to recovery, the highly rated Brazilian is not expected to return to action until autumn at the earliest. Despite sitting on the sidelines for the past two months, Santos has remained in the spotlight, with some of Europe's elite clubs said to be plotting moves for the former Flamengo shot-stopper. Old Trafford has been mooted as a possible destination for Santos after United's director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, met with Eintracht's chief Markus Krosche in April to discuss a proposed £51million deal. The Red Devils are believed to have identified Santos as a potential target on the back of another unconvincing campaign for Ruben Amorim's error-prone number one Andre Onana. But when quizzed on United's interest in a wide-ranging interview with German newspaper Die Welt, Santos stressed that he was not even thinking about leaving Eintracht. 'The management at Eintracht Frankfurt have shown tremendous confidence in me,' Santos said. 'They wanted to continue working with me before these rumours even surfaced. 'They still have a lot of faith in me here, so it was clear to me that I decided to extend my contract [last October]. 'I want to establish myself as a goalkeeper, perform well and achieve as much as possible.' Asked if he had ambitions to lift major trophies with Eintracht, Santos replied: 'Of course. If I compete, I want to win. 'The club has shown repeatedly with the DFB Cup and Europa League victories, as well as with our Champions League qualification, that great things are possible here. 'I want to help repeat such successes.' United are not alone in tracking Santos' progress, with Bayern Munich reportedly eyeing the youngster as a possible long-term successor for Manuel Neuer. On these rumours, Santos said: 'Manuel is a role model for every goalkeeper. 'Every goalkeeper who comes along now has learned from him. 'I'm not busy with anything else at the moment because my entire focus is on Eintracht Frankfurt.' Santos picked out fellow countrymen, Alisson Becker and Ederson, as his two greatest inspirations in the modern game. More Trending 'I especially look up to my two compatriots Alisson Becker and Ederson,' he explained. 'They're among the best goalkeepers in the world and I watch a lot of videos of both of them. 'With Alisson, I pay particular attention to his positioning and his behaviour in one-on-one duels with the strikers. I've improved a lot in that area since then. 'Ederson is world-class on the ball. That's why I've been watching how precisely he holds his foot when passing and the decisions he makes.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Report: Liverpool turn down keeper enquiry from abroad
Alisson Becker Transfer Rumours Quashed as Liverpool Keeper Reaffirms Commitment Galatasaray's Enquiry Sparks Transfer Window Buzz In what continues to be a busy summer for Liverpool, one story that briefly set pulses racing was an enquiry from Turkish giants Galatasaray regarding goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany was first to break the news, revealing that Galatasaray had made a 'concrete enquiry' for Liverpool's No.1 just weeks ago. With the Reds already undergoing notable change this summer—including the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and long-time deputy Caoimhin Kelleher—any suggestion that Alisson could leave was enough to unsettle fans. Advertisement However, Liverpool supporters can breathe a sigh of relief. Becker's Loyalty Remains Strong Alisson, 32, remains a cornerstone of Liverpool's ambitions and is widely regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world. His current contract runs until 2027, and he has reiterated his commitment to the club. Despite expressing a desire to return to Brazil one day, Alisson made it clear that his focus remains at Anfield: 'I talk to athletes who have made this move to return, some have had good experiences, others not. Each one will have their own experience, but I want to return, especially to Inter. I don't know when it will happen, but I still want to do it at a high level. That's what I have planned.' These comments show a player thinking long-term about his career, but in no rush to leave Merseyside just yet. Mamardashvili Signing Hints at Long-Term Planning The summer arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia offers a glimpse into Liverpool's strategic thinking. The 23-year-old Georgian is seen as Alisson's long-term successor but will start the season as second choice. With Kelleher's exit, the move fills a gap in the squad while also setting up a seamless transition in future seasons. Fanbase Reassured as Core Squad Stays With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also staying, the summer upheaval has not fractured the team's backbone. Alisson's decision to stay underscores his importance not just as a player but as a leader. Advertisement As Plettenberg's report rightly highlighted, Galatasaray may be on the lookout, but Alisson's eyes are firmly set on another season leading from the back at Anfield. Our View – Anfield Index Analysis From a Liverpool supporter's perspective, this update couldn't be more reassuring. Alisson has been a rock at the back for the Reds, and with so much shifting this summer—Trent off to Madrid, Kelleher leaving, —the last thing fans wanted was a question mark over Alisson's future. The interest from Galatasaray feels opportunistic. With Alisson's age and contract situation, it's understandable that clubs would be curious, but it's telling that Alisson didn't even entertain the idea. His words make it clear: he sees himself playing at the highest level for years to come, and right now, that's in a Liverpool shirt. Advertisement Mamardashvili is an exciting prospect and certainly a solid heir apparent, but there's no replacement for Alisson's leadership, shot-stopping, and calm under pressure. His continued presence ensures that the rebuild taking place this summer doesn't tip into a full-blown reset. From a fan's lens, this feels like a win. A world-class keeper staying loyal when other big names have moved on sends a strong message. It says Liverpool are still a club to believe in.

Liverpool star now EXPECTS contract extension
One Liverpool star admits he expects a contract extension at Liverpool. The Reds have a free option to do so. Liverpool have dealt with complicated contract situations for over a year now. The entirety of last season was dominated off the pitch by Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all playing on expiring contracts. Advertisement Two of those situations were then resolved the way we all hoped - Salah and Van Dijk each signed two-year contracts to remain with Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, left the club for Real Madrid (although, technically, he was sold to them). This summer sees another couple of deals dominate. Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson are both on course to leave on free transfers in 2026. Liverpool certainly want to agree new terms for Konate, though it largely depends on wages. Robertson is a different matter - he's now past 30 and the club are actively hoping to replace him. However, they're not the only players entering the final year of their contracts. Alisson Becker is, too, but with a catch. Alisson Becker on his contract Alisson's contract technically expires in 2026. In fact, as things stand, he'll also leave on a free transfer. Advertisement Liverpool, though, did have an option in there to extend the deal by one year. Alisson expects them to do so, as he admitted in a press conference this week. "Now, I have one year left on my contract and another year [as an] option," said Alisson. "[Liverpool] will probably exercise that. "I think about what I have in my hands and doing my job well. It's a decisive moment in my career with a World Cup approaching. "I want to be focused and not planning to get in the way of that. I also have big goals with Liverpool." Liverpool would, of course, be absolutely mad not to extend Alisson's deal by another year. We believe he was the world's best goalkeeper last season and not someone who should be allowed to leave cheaply. The real question is whether he signs a new deal beyond that. Liverpool have already moved to replace him, with Giorgi Mamardashvili joining the squad this summer after signing a year ago.

Sporting director confirms Liverpool beat 'giant' clubs to new signing
Liverpool's second signing of the summer is Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia. The Hungarian international is the second player from his nation to currently represents the Reds. He'll join Dominik Szoboszlai in the Liverpool first team, where he's expected to occupy the number three role behind Giorgi Mamardashvili and Alisson Becker. Advertisement That means he'll also be playing U21 football in the Premier League 2 where he'll be tasked with adjusting to the demands of English football. It's an exciting and long-term signing for the Reds. Pecsi is highly rated and has a growing reputation among European clubs.

Liverpool star to follow John Heitinga to Ajax as the former Reds assistant bids to rebuild Dutch giants after leaving Anfield
Ajax want Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros on loan. The Czech Republic international, 23, is well known to Ajax coach John Heitinga after working with him last season. Heitinga, a former Everton defender, arrived at Anfield last summer and served as Arne Slot 's No 2 throughout their Premier League-winning campaign before agreeing to become Ajax boss at the end of last month. Jaros, meanwhile, signed for the Reds as a 15-year-old but only made his Premier League debut this term after replacing the inured Alisson Becker in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. The stopper, who earned his first cap for his national team in March last year, has had spells on loan with St Patrick's Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County and sturm Graz. The Premier League champions moved quickly to bolster their goalkeeping unit after the sale of Caoimhin Kelleher by bringing in 20-year-old Hungarian stopper Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia. With the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili following a loan spell at Valencia, first team opportunities are likely to be even harder for the Czech keeper to come by. In May, Heitinga agreed a two-year contract and replaces Francesco Farioli, who departed the club after a single season in charge. The moves confirmes the 41-year-old's fourth stint in Amsterdam, having enjoyed two spells at the club as a player and a brief stint in charge of the senior side in 2023.
