Milwaukee man suspected in Sheboygan Falls double shooting arrested after police chase

SHEBOYGAN FALLS – A 24-year-old Milwaukee man suspected to be involved in a double shooting and a police chase June 11 is being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center. Sheboygan Falls Police Department reported the suspect went to a home in the 400 block of Giddings Avenue in Sheboygan Falls armed with a handgun and confronted a 39-year-old man whom he knew. The suspect fired several rounds, striking the 39-year-old man and a 67-year-old man. The 39-year-old fired shots at the 24-year-old, but he was not injured. Sheboygan Falls police and fire personnel responded to the incident around 4:15 p.m. June 11. Both victims were transported by medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries but are expected to survive. He was believed to be driving a stolen 2021 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee toward Milwaukee, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Around 4:23 p.m. June 11, the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office notified the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office the suspect was driving south. The Ozaukee office and Saukville police attempted to pull the suspect over on Interstate 43 near State 33 in Saukville around 4:49 p.m. Instead, the suspect accelerated, and the sheriff's office pursued the vehicle south into Milwaukee County. Wisconsin State Patrol successfully deployed tire deflation devices near Good Hope Road, causing the suspect's vehicle to lose control and strike a Ford F-150. The vehicle came to a stop south of Silver Spring Road. According to the release, the suspect tried to flee on foot while the vehicle was still moving. He was apprehended and taken into custody by Sheboygan Falls police. The Ozaukee County District Attorney's Office could pursue additional charges, too. Sheboygan Falls Police Department said it's actively investigating the incident and has no additional information. SHEBOYGAN COUNTY – A Sheboygan County lake and beach are among the best in the country, according to USA TODAY readers. Elkhart Lake ranked second for the Best Lake category, and Deland Park's North Beach ranked fourth for the Best Lake Beach category in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. Elkhart Lake, popular for boating, kayaking and swimming, placed second behind Big Bear Lake in California. Fireman's Park and Beach, 411 Lake St., is the only public beach on Elkhart Lake. It has a concession stand, picnic tables, grills, volleyball courts and restrooms. Fireman's Park and Beach is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Entry fees are $4 for adults and $1 for children 12 years old and younger. Several venues, like the Osthoff Resort and Tiki Bar, also host live music along Elkhart Lake throughout the summer. Best spots to cool off this summer: Water parks, beaches and more — where to swim in Sheboygan County this summer Deland Park's beach ranked behind beaches at Marion Lake in Minnesota, Smith Mountain Lake State Park in Virginia and Silver Lake State Park in Michigan. Sheboygan's waves and winds have made the lakeshore an ideal spot for surfing and kiteboarding. The beach also has volleyball courts, restrooms and a nearby playground. SHEBOYGAN – Sargento Foods' plan to build a new manufacturing facility in Plymouth, the opening of a trampoline park and checking on new tenants in the Longhouse Axe Bar were among the top business stories in May. Additionally, Krazian Fuzian opened in the former Emmer's bar, Harry's Diner at Interstate rebranded to Dina's Diner, and Beechwood's Twisted Pair Bar and Restaurant suffered a devasting fire. Deertrace Kohler's Joann store officially closed May 25, and event design company Take Flight Enterprise took over the Breaking Bread Banquet Hall in the town of Wilson. Sargento announced it plans to move manufacturing from its headquarters at 1 Persnickety Place to a new 384,000-square-foot facility on the southeast corner of State 57 and County PP. The company still needs approval from the Plymouth Common Council, following rezoning in May. This would be the company's sixth facility in Wisconsin. Site construction could start in spring 2026 and finish sometime the following year. Staff switching facilities would be gradually moved in. Corporate staff and trucking operations would remain at the Sargento headquarters. The building, formerly housing Spaceport Sheboygan and Cosmic Bounce, is now outfitted with a foam pit, ninja course, toddler area and other amenities. Bounce is offering memberships, birthday party rentals and open jump times. Learn more at Dice Dungeon tabletop gaming lounge and retail shop and RUFF Rage Room are the new tenants of the former Longhouse Axe Bar, 1133 Indiana Ave. The bar closed at the end of March, and its escape rooms closed last June. Dice Dungeon sells trading card games, board games and wargames and offers roughly 6,000 square feet for playing games, including a video game room and a rentable role-playing room. RUFF Rage Room recently moved to the new space after being forced out of the EBCO Venture Center building mid-April because the city determined there were several municipal code violations. It's offering smash and splat packages again. ELKHART LAKE – A race hosted at Road America was named among the top 10 best motorsports races, according to USA TODAY readers. The Sports Car Club of America's National Championship Runoffs ranked fourth in USA TODAY 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards, following Sick Week in Orlando, Florida; NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa; and Indianapolis 500 in Indianapolis. Advertisement The event will return to the Road America racetrack Oct. 3-5, rounding out the racing season. The racecourse celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Readers also named other Sheboygan County attractions among the best in the country. The Osthoff's Old World Christmas Market and Plank Road Distillery ranked among the top 10 best holiday markets and craft spirits. SHEBOYGAN – Snow is expected to hit the city again as early as Friday afternoon, following a full day of wintry weather and a snow emergency already this week. The city announced it will lift the snow emergency at 3 p.m. Thursday, but the area could see more snow starting Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office. There is a 79% chance of snow, perhaps up to 4 inches, according to predictions from early morning Feb. 13. NWS said there is still uncertainty around snow accumulation. NWS recommends travelers continue to check for forecast updates, especially if they have weekend travel plans. Steady snow hit the region Wednesday, accumulating to more than 4 inches in some areas of the city. Sheboygan Area School District canceled after-school activities yesterday and parking restrictions went into effect at 6 a.m. Thursday morning to assist with snow removal. What to do?
