Mansory Maintains Its Monopoly On Ridiculous G-Wagens
10 'Unique' AL3C MONO907Y Builds To Come Just when it seems as if aftermarket tuner Mansory has pushed the boundaries of good taste beyond any imaginable realm, it finds a way to make us recoil in shock yet again. More Power Means We Don't Have To See It For Long Under the hood, the famed 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been enhanced with larger turbos and a freer-flowing exhaust system with less restrictive downpipes. After an ECU tune, this treatment moves the G 63's output from 577 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque to 809 hp and 848 lb-ft. Zero to 62 mph takes just 3.9 seconds (down from 4.5 seconds as standard) and the top speed is limited to 155 mph (up from 137 mph in the standard car). With 24×10-inch FC.5 wheels wrapped in 295/30R24 rubber on each corner, we doubt this conversion will win any autocross events, but the having each wheel and its corresponding brake caliper painted in a different color will get buyers more attention than any trophy. Pricing hasn't been announced, but if past Mansory builds are any indication, you can be sure that this will far exceed half a million dollars (not in Monopoly money). Perhaps if somebody had let the creators of this monster win a board game or two when they were kids, we'd be spared this aesthetic atrocity. But given how often Mansory keeps building cars like this, there probably aren't enough therapists in the world to keep the attention-hungry from asking for another way to go viral. Still reeling from when you landed on your sibling's hotel in Mayfair? Look away now. Via creative input from the appropriately named street artist and DJ, Alec Monopoly, this big Merc is dubbed the 'AL3C MONO9O7Y'. It's based on the Grand Entrée Mansory revealed last winter. Advertisement - Page continues below There's a black and white 100 currency note on the sides with splashes of paint, and a seemingly triumphant Pennybags. He's spotted again on the rear wheel cover, this time joined by a band of (presumably) elated bankers. The rest of the body gets Mansory's now familiar grainy carbon look, and new 24in gloss black 'FC.5' alloys, each gaining an individually coloured inner ring. Inside, the cabin is coated in an aqua-blue theme and retains all the familiar G-Wagen touchpoints, only with more Monopoly in places such as the door cards and the passenger handle bar. The seat belts are different colours too, and the rear seat cushions see yet more Monopoly. Beneath the bonnet sits a 4.0-litre V8, spruced up with bigger turbos, a new air filter and a shoutier sports exhaust. As such, outputs now sit at 809bhp and 848lb ft, so 0-62mph hovers around the four-second mark. Advance to really very Go. Wait, Mansory's Monopoly-Themed G-Wagen Is Actually Awesome
Mansory likes to make audacious cars. The company's creations often have bold body kits, colorful interiors, and too much carbon fiber. But its latest build is actually really cool. The aftermarket specialist collaborated with pop artist Alec Monopoly to hand-paint 10 convertible Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs, each a one-off creation. Alec's art frequently features the Mr. Monopoly character, which is prominent on Mansory's new G-Class. The example shown here has the character on the shortened rear doors, with splashes of teal, yellow, pink, blue, green, and red on the sides. Mansory reprogrammed the electronics, increasing the output from the standard 585 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The modded G-Class can hit 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and reach a 155-mph top speed. Inside, the 10 lucky customers will be able to pick the leather type, color, quilting, and more. However, the cabin doesn't escape Alec's creativity. Several trim pieces will feature handcrafted designs, like on the door trim and the dashboard handle. The three money-loving characters are featured throughout the cabin, with plenty of references to cash, which you'll need plenty of if you want this Mansory. Not only does it feature unique artwork, but each Mercedes undergoes significant modifications to accommodate the convertible roof, and that's not cheap.
